A Will And A Way

I was really intrigued with this case now...Intrigued in a way I hadn't been in awhile...At first I thought that this was a nowhere case primarily fueled by jealous female suspicion...but the more I looked, the more things just didn't seem right.

Daisy Jones gave me all of the information I needed..Bank Statements...A copy of her father's will or at least one of them..there was another that she didn't have! I looked up phone records ,credit card activities of both Harold and Veronica Jones and studied them over some chinese food at Chinese Bob's...

I studied Harold ''Hallelujah"Jones like a school subject..He had been born and raised here in Philadelphia...An only child of a single mother...Had been an average student in the Philadelphia School System...Had entered the U.S. Air Force right after high school and had earned a Bachelors degree while in the Air Force...Had gone to Officer's Training School and served as a Major before re-entering civilian life...

After the Air Force, he had married , had a daughter, Daisy, now 31 and had earned a Master's Degree at Temple University.  His first wife, Daisy's mother died of  Breast Cancer and He threw himself into his church as a shouting Deacon, (thus the nickname.."Hallelujah " Jones) and his work...He stayed single until about six years ago when he married a pretty young girl, about the same age as his daughter, who he had met at the church picnic.

He worked as an Actuary for many years...An actuary was a business professional who deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. Actuaries provide expert assessments of financial security systems, with a focus on their complexity, their mathematics, and their mechanisms.

Actuaries mathematically evaluate the probability of events and quantify the contingent outcomes in order to minimize financial losses associated with uncertain undesirable events. Since many events, such as death, cannot be avoided, it is helpful to take measures to minimize their financial impact when they occur. These risks can affect both sides of the balance sheet, and require asset management, liability management, and valuation skills. Analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behavior and the vagaries of information systems are required to design and manage programs that control risk.

The profession has consistently ranked as one of the most desirable in various studies over the years. In 2006, a study by U.S. News  included actuaries among the 25 Best Professions that it expects will be in great demand in the future . In 2010, a study published by job search website Career Cast ranked actuary as the #1 job in the United States . I wouldn't say all of that...I think I have the best job in the USA!

The study used five key criteria to rank jobs: environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress. In 2012, the same study ranked the profession as the second best job.

At any rate... Harold Jones had a lot of money...In addition to his nice home...He owned two cars... A 2012 Escalade and a 2012 Ford Focus for his wife. He wasn't a millionaire, but he did alright...His wife spent like he was though...Just running through his money...She had three credit cards and all three were loaded...She had declared bankruptcy two years ago and had managed to get at least two more cards and load them up...

Neighbors had told me that in the last year, he had taken her cards and cut them up and had put her on an allowance..Something that she didn't like too much...Some neighbors told of hearing loud quarrels , followed by the squeaking of bed springs and the sound of lovemaking...

The will that Daisy showed me, showed that he left 1/3 of his estate to her, 1/3 to his wife and the rest to the church...

II-

"Want some company?" came a familiar voice.

I looked up...It was my wife ,Sepia....

"Hey what are you doing here?" I asked.

"I'm on my Lunch break...Bonita didn't come in today and it was kind of slow, so I closed up shop." she said.

"I was studying information on this case." I said.

"I see.." she said. "Anything?" she asked.

"His wife was a spend thrift, and she might not have liked her percentage of his will and she hired our good friend, Robert to contest it and change it.." I said.

"Have you talked to Robert about the second will?" she asked.

"That's probably my next move...but I'm in no rush." I said.

"You know Kevin...It has been uh...a long time since we uh had a nooner..."she said
seductively..

She needed to say no more...I turned off my Phone, My tablet and scooped up all of the papers I was looking at and put them in my breifcase...

III-

I often wondered what our neighbors would say about us. Maybe they already were saying it...Sepia and I made love alot...and we both could be very loud...especially in the summer with the window up.....

We were in our bedroom now...I had her on the counter, legs spread apart..me thrusting away as though it was going out of style..

Kissing and  making out like two high school teenagers and both of us moaning...Neither of us was fully undressed...my trousers and boxers were down around my ankles...

From the counter we wound up on the bed...well sort of..Sepia was on the bed, legs akimbo..I was bent over her , still thrusting away....both of us grunting, sweating and kissing....both of us ,moaning and yelling to the top of our lungs...

We both finally came fiercely and collapsed on top of each other...

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.." she moaned....

"Mannnnnnnnnnnnnn...that was something..." I said as I rolled over on my back....

"You feel better?" she asked.

''Supremely"I said...and we both smiled...

"Wow , I haven't done something like that since high school." I said.

"Not me...I was still a virgin in high school." she said.

I did a double take....

"I was...My mother sent me to Catholic School.....I came from a strict upbringing." said Sepia.

''Well you've certainly made up for it since then." I said.

"Glad you're satisfied.." she laughed.

I showered and got redressed....Sepia rolled over and went to sleep...I wished I could join her...but I was still curious about this case.

IV-

I met my friend, Attorney ,Robert Foxworth for beers at Josies later on and we discussed the second will...

"Yeah..I got a copy of it...Harold was my friend and I hated representing that wife of his after he died..."said Robert.

"She was pushy huh?" I asked.

"Pushy? She was crazy....I won't say the word that I'm thinking Kev.....She didn't want his daughter or the church to have anything... She acted as if she should have all of the money. What she gave me was a hastily typed up document and it had a forged signature....I called her on it...I told her that I knew the man personally and that I knew for a fact that that wasn't his handwriting." he said.  "She didn't show a bit of shame...not one....a real psychopath that one." he continued.

"But you still repped her right?" I asked...I knew Robert and I knew how much he loved the ladies..Even if they might be gold digging killers.

"Yeah...but we lost....just like I knew we would...and she withdrew...Even so, she got a nice peice of change from what he did leave her." he said.

"Yeah..she got even more from the life insurance policy she put out on him." I said.

"Insurance policy?" he asked.

"She pocketed a cool million bucks Robert. She took that policy out a week before he died." I said.

"You know...she had gold digger written all over her...I grew to not like the chick..and you know how I like foxy women...but her??? She just put a bad taste in my mouth Kev." he said.

"Robert...by any chance do you have a copy of that second will?" I asked.

"Yeah...I got a copy in my case file...Come by tomorrow, I'll let you see it." he said.

"Thanks." I said.

"Have you talked to the greiving widow yet?" he asked.

"No...but tomorrow ,I certainly plan to." I said.

(To be continued...)

I love Kevin and Sepia's relationship too...It's the best fictional relationship in fiction between a Black man and a Black woman and I thank you for it...
Not sure I need to take my underwear off and throw it up in the air.
