TRIAL DAY-

Sofia and Jade had gotten us coffee's from the coffee shop down the street that we all liked...
 

''Come and get it...Hot coffees.. Shame they didn't have any Churros." said Sofia.

"I know right?" said Jade..

"Oh I love the smell of hot roasted coffee in the morning..." said Yvette.

"I know what you mean...I do too!" I said..

"Mmmmmmmmm yes, thank you..."said Bee Bee.

"Just what the doctor ordered this cold morning." said Kahlil.

"Yes, thank you.." said Karen....

"Thanks guys." said her brother, Gary.

Assistant District Attorney, Effrom Jordan walked in...He walked over to Ms. Yvette.

"Well Hello Yvette, it is nice to see you again.." he said.

"Hello Effrom, you're prosecuting this case? " she asked.

"Sure Am.... this is a messy case....Perhaps after it's over we can meet for a drink.." he said.

"Sure we can,,,That would be nice..." said Yvette.

"Ms. Yvette, I want to be you when I grow up....You just slay..." said Bee Bee.

"I know right?" laughed Sofia.

"You girls already are me....You're not even aware of how many heads turn and necks break when you walk by...."laughed Yvette...She loved Bee Bee and Sofia...She often felt protective of them...and they simply adored her,,,

"Jade that last minute investigating you did was top flank....You uncovered things I never suspected."said Kahlil.

"A lot is going to come out that people didn't suspect." I said with a smile.

"Buckle Up, this is going to be quite a ride." said Jade...

While in the Judges Chambers....There was a lot of kissing going on..

"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm Arthuir, thank you for dropping by last night....I didn't call you, but I really enjoyed seeing you...Thanks for the flowers and the orgasms...ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!" Judge Kelly Ann cooed....

Lt. Tragg was receiving a sweet kiss from Judge Kelly Ann Mercer.

"I'm glad! Of all the trials I'd be assigned ,I would get yours..." said Kelly Ann..

as they kissed one last time..

"Okay!  Now that's enough.....Come here, let me wipe this off...

She took a disinfectant wipe and wiped her lipstick smudges off of his suit jacket, his collar and lapel and his face..

"There, now calm yourself down...I'll see you in a few minutes." she said.

As Lt. Tragg exited the Judges Chambers..

 

II-

"ALL RISE FOR THE HONORABLE JUDGE KELLY ANN MERCER!" cried the Bailiff..

Judge Kelly Ann walked into the courtroom...

ADA Effrom Jordan stood up...

 So did all of us and our client..

 

"Take your seats, Take your seats...Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning Attorneys and jurors." she said.

She was such a pleasent woman...Olivia, Beverly, Nelson, Josie, Bresha and I all loved her!

I am Judge Kelly Mercer..I see some familliar faces today..... . Welcome to my courtroom....Due to courtroom crowding of cases , we are going to bypass a preliminary hearing...We know that a crime, a henious crime has been committed so we are going to go straight to trial.. I expect, some of you are tired of hearing this...but it is what it is..We are  trying to wind down our case load.. We will have Jury selection today.. Trial could begin tomorrow morning if we seat a jury today.." said Judge Mercer... "We will start today with introductions.." she said.

Representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania...Assistant District Attorney Effrom Jordan your honor..

 

 "Yvette Jones-Lockwood- Lead Attorney for the Defense your honor." said Ms. Yvette.

"Keith Jones, Attorney for the Defense your honor." I said.

Beatrice Evans-Jones, Attorney for the defense." said Bee Bee

"Sofia Garcia -Ahmed, Attorney for the Defense your honor." said Sofia.

"Kahlil Ahmed, Attorney for the Defense your honor.."said Kahlil.

Jade and our client, Karen Lewis sat quietly at our defense table.

"Okay...it seems as though I know all of you....Let's begin with juror selection..."said Judge Kelly Ann.

ADA Effrom Jordan was a pretty fair guy as lawyers go...but I got the impression that he didn't take jury selection too serious...

But Kahlil and I certainly did.... We knew the jurors we wanted and the ones we didn't want...We had good questions for them all.

and we had Bee Bee and Sofia for back up with their laptops, whispering to us....

We surprisingly got an even dozen jurors....

"Oh My God Vettie, you have trained these four so well...They work like seperate parts of the same machine...You don't have to do anything." said Karen..

Yvette smiled like a proud mother...

"They are good aren't they?" she said.

''Alright...We have a jury.. Trial will begin tomorrow at 9:00 AM in this courtroom...Attorneys, Jurors,please be on time and be ready for trial...you are dismissed." she said.

We all filed out of the courthouse....

III-

The trial got funky from the beginning....and for the next few days it got even funkier.

ADA Effrom Jordan didn't intend to play...He was as cut-throat as they came... He weaved for a jury a story of our client, Karen Gallagher-Lewis

A High Achieving and Ambitious young woman...An Attorney, who had moved up the line in the legal world and was on a fast track to a judgeship, when she told her boyfriend....Dustin Randal, who she didn't know to be an ex con and confidence man named Harry Chambers about her brother..

Gary Gallagher, who twenty years ago escaped from the Youth Study Center to California.  This type of information would all but scuttle her judgeship..;.and the now deceased Blackmailer, Nudie Jefferson was having her pay to the tune of $2000.00 a month, which her bank records showed she had been paying..

When he tried to squeeze her for $20,000.00 that was her breaking point. She murdered her fiance, who she discovered was the mastermind behind the entire scheme and fled the city , he said.

Yvette explained to the jury that only some of the ADA's story was accurate...   One thing that wasn't was that Karen Lewis did not know her fiancé, Dustin Randall was really Harry Chambers, a former cell mate of Nudie Johnson...and she did not know he had told Nudie Johnson about her brother's criminal past.

She said that her client had asked her to be the go between between her and Nudie Johnson and that Nudie Johnson refused to deal with a "middle man" or in this case her. Shortly afterwords, Mr. Johnson was dead.. Killed in an  explosion, later deemed to be arson.

She said she doubted if her client had the where with all to rig a bomb to blow up Mr. Jefferson's home or owned a gun like the one that shot both Mr. Johnson and Mr. Chambers..

Autopsy reports showed that both men were killed with a .44 magnum gun that was here to for not found!

 

ADA Effrom Jordan presented three witnesses who claimed  Ms. Lewis fled Philadelphia at 8:30 rather than 6:30 when she calimed to have left... The 8:30 time would have been after the murders of both Jefferson and Chambers...

Sofia and Bee Bee totally negated the first witnesses story... They brought forth two witnesses who said they were on the bus with this witness...One was a man who flirted with her, who she slapped and the other was a woman sitting with her... They were both on the 8:30 bus and they both said...that Karen Lewis was NOT on their bus.

The second witness was also on the eight thirty bus... He was sitting in the back and from the testimonies of three additional witnesses we brought forth...He was asleep and could not have seen who was on the bus at the time..

"He was snoring and farting the entire time." said one of our rebuttal witnesses, which brought the jury to laughter.

Yvette produced Debit card receipts that showed that Karen had dinner in the Reading Terminal and purchased an item in the Fashion District around 5:30 pm...before she boarded the bus  and therefore was still far from the murders....

Sofia and Bee Bee presented bank statements that showed...both of these witnesses received payments of $1000.00 a piece right after Karen's arrest...When pressed for what the payments were for and from who they came from they refused to answer...

Judge Kelly Ann demanded that they answer the question... They both said that it was from a woman over the phone and that they did not know her name....They said they were paid for their testimony to the police and in court.

The Bus driver was next...

On cross I asked him if he always noticed everyone that got on his bus and the time they got on..

He smiled and said ,"I always notice a pretty woman and she got on at 8:30."

I presented a man who was on the 8:30 bus and he disputed his version saying that she definitely was on his bus at 6:30 and for the same reason..

"She was sitting with another woman and they both caught my eye...I was checking them both out." he said...which brought the jury to laughter once again.

Yvette showed him a bank receipt of his that showed a $2000.00 payment right after Karen's arrest...When pressed for what the payments were for and from who they came from he too, refused to answer...

"Sir, I'm losing my patience with you...Answer the question or I'll hold you in contempt."said Judge Kelly Ann, showing a not so sweet side of her that we rarely saw.

He too said a mysterious woman contacted him by phone and offered to put money in his account for his testimony to the police and in court.

"I am disgusted by the three of you." she said sternly...

"I have one last witness your honor..." said ADA Effrom Jordan, who knew he had completely lost the jury....

"Due to the lateness of the hour...We'll hear her tomorrow...Then I'll decide whether or not to declare a mis-trial." said Judge Kelly Ann...

"Guys, you did good...This entire week we've scuttled whatever kind of case they were trying to build...I'm proud of you.." said Yvette.

"From what I can see, we've got the entire jury on our side."said Kahlil..

"We've created a lot of reasonable doubt, a lot of it.."said Bee Bee.

"I am so pleased with all of you..."said our client, Karen...

"And Now that your brother is no longer a fugitive....Whoever was blackmailing you can no longer hold that over your head. They have no more leverage." I said.

"Now to get Kristen on the stand.....and expose her." said Sofia.

Jade walked over to Yvette....

"I just got a call from the Medical Examiner's Office....I'm going to stop by there and get the official last report..." she said...then she whispered something in Ms. Yvette's ear.

Ms. Yvette's eyes got as big as saucers....

"Wellllll, this explains a lot." she said, smiling.

We were four days in...It was Monday Night!!

At Home that night..

Yvette had taken a nice hot shower and lotioned down...She felt good..

"I feel  good husband, this trial is going our way and we haven't even begun our defense....The Kids destroyed Effrom's case...I didn't really have to do too much.."laughed Yvette.

"I wished you'd have let me take a shower with you.."said Gary...

"Nope you'd of gotten too excited..." laughed Yvette...

"Can't get more excited than I am now.." he said..

Yvette opened his bathrobe....Her eyes got as large as saucers......She smiled wickedly...

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT THAT.....OUUUUUU YOU ARE SO HARD!!! AND SO BIG!!" she said.

"It's all for you baby!" he said as they began to kiss passionately......

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU GARYYY!" she moaned.

"Good to know " she said as she devoured his lips...

He slipped her panties down and she slowly stepped out of them....

"OUUUUUUUUUUUU VETTIE GIRLLLL!" Gary moaned....

They stood in the middle of the bedroom kissing passionately....She touched his erect and engorged penis....Gary trembled.....

He moaned slowly....They continued kissing.

They sat on the side of the bed, kissing and with Yvette moving up and down on Gary, driving him to delirium...

Yvette spread her legs and began to move up and down on Gary even more, She was very warm and very wet and smelled like a newborn baby....Gary was losing his mind as Yvette moved up and down on him..

IV-

The trial continued......

Lt. Tragg looked sick....The Big Case he thought he'd brought in was falling apart in the seams...Three  of his witnesses had not only perjured themselves , but had been bought...He should have checked them out more thoroughly....

ADA Effrom Jordan didn't say anything to him but the look on his face when he stared angrilly at Lt. Tragg couldn't be held from anyone..

"ADA Effrom looks very angry..." I said.

"Ya think? " laughed Bee Bee.

"His witnesses perjured themselves and it looks like they were bought... Lt. Tragg should have checked them out...The same way Jade did!" said Sofia.,

"That's why she had the highest clearence record on the Tokyo  Homicide division...She was thorough. "said Kahlil.

Me, Bee Bee,Sofia and Kahlil sat in court drinking coffee...We had done our parts.. It was Ms. Yvette's show today..

Jade had a very satisfied look on her face...So did Karen...

Kristen, who we hadn't seen for weeks suddenly showed up...She was supposed to be our witness...but now she had changed her story and said that Karen and her were definitely on the 8:30 bus...

On Cross, Yvette produced the witness who again testified that he saw both Kristen and Karen sitting together on the 6:30 bus....

"They were both very attractive women and I have an eye for attractive women...." said the man... Once again...this brought laughter from the jury...

"You lied Kristen...You lied to us, you lied to the Police and the ADA....You lied about everything... You said you were in Harrisburg on State business....Yet no one remembers you in the State Capital....I have a very good investigator....She checked it out...  Your name isn't Kristen either, is it?  IS IT?" Ms. Yvette asked.

"No." she said contritely.....

"Your name is Emily Kristen Strunk isn't it???...and you served three years in State Prison for Wire Fraud....didn't you?   You and Harry Chambers , alias Dustin Randall were actually lovers and were working together on the con with the late Eugene Jefferson....Only Jefferson double crossed you both and so he had to go..didn't he?  You killed them both didn't you." said Yvette with a sly smile.

"I didn't kill anybody and by now Ms. Smarty pants I'm sure you know that that wasn't Nudie Jefferson's body in that house don't you?" snarled Kristen...

"Yes I know."said Yvette calmly......I got the report from the Medical Examiner's Office last night... They identified the body as that of a indigent homeless man with mental problems who wandered the neighborhood named Luther Jenkins..The Judge and the Prosecution also know. So tell me.. who killed him and who killed Harry Chambers?" asked Yvette.

Kristen calmly pointed to a portly Black man with a blonde wig on in the back of the visitors section..

"It was Him!!...The Real Mastermind behind this whole losing caper....I told him it wouldn't work, I told him it was falling apart... It was him, NUDIE JEFFERSON..." she said.

The Black man got up and tried to run...

But Lt. Tragg leaped up and ran after him, grabbing him and pulling his wig off..

"THE JIG IS UP NUDIE!!....YOU'RE UNDER ARREST PALLY.....TWO COUNTS OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER FOR STARTERS!" he said as he handcuffed him... "And by the way, horrible wig." he added.

"DAMN IT!!! DAMN IT TO HELL!" he snarled and stomped his foot....

"Bailiffs take this young woman into custudy....Ms. Lewis, all charges against you are dropped...You are free to go." said Judge Kelly Ann...

"Good Job Perry Mason....I didn't expect this."laughed Karen ,hugging Yvette. "You guys were really good the way you disected the prosecutions case....You didn't even begin your defense....Quite impresssive." she added.

"We didn't need a defense... His case was so raggedy...Hopefully you'll get that Judgeship and who knows...Maybe you'll cut us some slack in court one day..."laughed Yvette...."I'm just joking..." she added....

"It's okay....I owe you guys my freedom, my life....I'm forever in your debt." said Karen.

"We are quite the team, aren't we?" I said to Bee Bee...

"We have been since day one, Law School. Hot Stuff!"said Bee Bee.

"I'm so glad we all decided to stay in Philly and work together." said Sofia.

"Yeah Me too....And so glad we got a certain Ex-Homicide Cop her citizenship, so she could be our investigator.."said Kahlil, looking at Jade..

"It all began to fall apart in the seams....and in the back of my mind...I knew something was off kilter about both deaths...I had a hunch...and my hunch was right...Nudie faked his death and killed Harry Chambers and got his girl to be HIS girl and continue the scam....His greed got the best of him though.."said Jade.

"He overplayed his hand." said Ms. Yvette.

"Yvette, perhaps I'll take a raincheck on that drink...You just kicked my ass in court...I'm not in a celebratory mood.. Perhaps some other time." said Effrom..

"Okay.... our drink date is still open." said Yvette smiling.. as he walked away..

Another case wrapped up!

EPILOUGE-

Eugene "Nudie" Jefferson was convicted of  the Murders of  Luther Jenkins and Harry Chambers as well as Arson and Extortion...He was given two Death Sentences....His Attorney is appealing his death sentences.

Emma Kristen Strunk was convicted of Conspiracy and witness tampering., but turned in States Evidence against Nudie Jefferson..  She was given a suspended sentence and released from custody...

Karen Lewis got her Judgeship and was sworn in as a Common Pleas Court Judge...

Yvette Jones-Lockwood, Olivia Bennett-Alexander and Karen Page were at her swearing in as was her brother,

Gary Gallagher.

It was an overcast Wednesday Afternoon...We all agreed to forgo dinner at our building and ride out to a popular diner near the airport.. Both Olivia and Yvette  invited our whole group out to eat...

 

 "I've always loved this place...So warm and homey and a reminder of the few good times I had with my daddy."said Yvette.

"Well I'm your daddy now and the food is very good."said Gary. "We'll come here again..." he added.

"This food is very good,.perhaps we'll drive out here ourselves Bee, just you and me." I said.

"This is great for a date date..."laughed Bee Bee.

"It is...it's different and far away enough for some privacy..." said Sofia.

"I knowwwwwww."laughed Kahlil.

"This is my first time here...and it won't be my last." said Jade.

"I've been here before...love the food."said Danny.

"I've been here before too!  Long time ago.."said Virginia.

"Same here...always loved the food." said Jetty. 

"My daddy and I had our best times together here at this restaurant...Remember Bev?" asked Olivia.

"Oh yeah, He'd bring me out here with you and buy me Hot Chocolate with whipped cream and a cherry on top." gushed Beverly.

 

"You two were more like sisters than Aunt and Niece...You had quite a childhood, quite a life."said Donnie Ray.

"We did...."said Beverly smiling.

"I'm glad you  allowed me to be part of it." said Nelson, hugging her... "My Uncle brought me out here too, a time or two when I was little." he added.

"My daddy brought me here, around this time of year when I was a little girl, when I'd visit Philly." remembered Josie.

"They bake the bread right on the premises...Can't you smell it?" said Paris.

"Ummmmmmmmmmm yes..." said Bresha.

"Everything is hot and good..." said Tony...

"It is.. It is." said Alfreda, smiling and leaning into Rockland's arms..

This was his first time here, though he had heard of this place. 

"Olivia's father used to bring me, Liv,Beverly, Kayla,Natalie and Renee here when we got good report cards and treat us....We loved their burgers and their hot roast beef specials..."said Jazzy...
 

''Wow, this food is good...Comfort food!"said Dabnis.

"Jazmataz, remember when my Uncle used to bring all of us girls,Me. Olivia, Beverly, You,Natalie and Renee here back in the day...The Burgers, The Roast Beef specials...Oh My God...the food was sooo good." said Kayla.

"Yeah, I was telling Dabnis about that." said Jazzy...

"Good Times Huh?" said Natalie.

"He'd come and pick us up in his car..."laughed Renee.

'All you hotties hung together....I can't believe it....Then again , I can...Wowwwwwww!" laughed Kayla's husband, Ray...

"Yup!  You got all these fine sisters in law..."laughed his wife Kayla.

"Lawd have mercy!"laughed Ray...

"Such a nice legacy....We all are like a big happy family." said Jessica.

"Yeah...I'm proud to be part of it."said Chip.

"My Father used to bring me here too as a little girl...I probably saw some of you guys, but didn't know you yet."said Karen Page.

''Something about Daddy's and their daughters and this place.huh?" said B.L.

"It had and still has good food..and it was out here near the airport, far from the maddening big city..."said Natalie.

"It was and is peaceful...This is very relaxing..."said David.

"This is my first time here...but I love the food and the hominess."said Brooke.

"Yeah me too, My first time...but it won't be my last." said Sean.

"I've been here before...I remember the warmth, the hominess. " said Zoey.

"Kinda reminds you of Sam Mother's joint."said Lem..

"Oh My god!!! I don't believe it!" said Renee as we all began to eat our food.

''We just can't escape this dude.." said Tyrell.

Lt. Tragg walked in with Judge Kelly Ann Mercer..

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!   THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!! NOW WHAT DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS JOINT?...MY OLD MAN AND MY UNCLE USED TO BRING ME HERE WHEN I WAS A KID...LOVED THE FOOD!" said Lt. Tragg, who spotted all of us eating and enjoying our food and fellowship.

"This looks like a place their parent brought them when they were kids... My Daddy used to take me to a place like this in Alabama when I was a little girl, right around Christmas...It had the best food.. See Arthur, the more you think you're different from people....The more you find...you're all just alike..."

"You know in addition to being sexy as hell, you're a saint.."said Lt. Tragg, who for once wasn't pawing all over Kelly Ann..

"I just believe people have more in common than not." she said and she waved at all of us..

And we all enjoyed our food and fellowship that night.
