PRELUDE- TRIAL DAY-JUDGES CHAMBERS

A Beautiful Bouquet of Fresh Red Roses were in the Judges Chambers, addressed to Judge Kelly Ann Mercer, from, who else??, Lt. Arthur Tragg III, Philadelphia Police Department....

A Tumbler of Hot Steaming Coffee was also waiting for Judge Mercer...

She was tickled pink....No man had ever been this thoughtful....She giggled like a high school girl and even jumped up and down...

Lt. Tragg walked in....

"I hope you liked it!  A Kind of good luck offering." he said.

"OHHHHHHH I LOVE IT!! YOU ARE SOOOO SWEEET!" she said..

And took him in her arms and kissed him passionately..

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" she moaned.

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! AWWWWWWWWWW LAWWWD!" he moaned..This woman knew how to kiss a man , he thought to himself.

The kissing got hotter , more passionate....

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU... You are getting me excited." she cooed..

Most of it was on Lt. Tragg's face and collar....

"Now sit down in here and calm yourself down..." she whispered, staring at his trousers and shaking her head... "It's trial time.." she said as she left the chambers..

COURTROOM A- 9:00 AM

"GOOD MORNING!! GOOD MORNING ATTORNEYS AND PERSPECTIVE JURORS!I am Judge Kelly Mercer..I see some familliar faces today.....I am relatively new to the Philadelphia area. Welcome to my courtroom....Due to courtroom crowding of cases , we are going to bypass a preliminary hearing...We know that a crime, a henious crime has been committed so we are going to go straight to trial.. I expect, some of you are tired of hearing this...but it is what it is..We are  trying to wind down our case load.. We will have Jury selection today.. Trial could begin tomorrow morning if we seat a jury today.." said Judge Mercer... "We will start today with introductions.." she said.

"Representing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Assistant District Attorney Bruce Kirby your honor." said Bruce Kirby..

"I remember you from my days as a Defense Attorney and as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan." said Judge Mercer..

"Yes, I thought you looked familliar...It's been awhile" said ADA Bruce Kirby. 

 "Olivia Bennett-Alexander, Lead Attorney for the Defense Your honor." said Olivia.

"Mrs. Beverly West-East-Second Chair, Attorney for the defense your honor." said Beverly.

"Nelson East, Attorney for the defense."said Nelson.

"Mrs. Josephine Boyd, Attorney for the defense." said Josie.

"Mrs. Bresha Billips, Attorney for the Defense.your honor." said Bresha.

Our client, Elaine Young an attorney accused of the first degree murder of her lover, Attorney Owen Clifford sat next to me quietly....

She was shaking just a little bit...Nervous.

I sat with my legs crossed with a stoic look on my face. I rubbed her hands softly and whispered..

"It's going to be alright...My wife and her niece have won tougher cases than yours.

She looked at me and smiled.

"I beleive I know you guys....You've tried a case in my courtroom before...Welcome back!" she laughed.

She was pleasent woman, with a beautiful demeanor.. I wondered as did we all what she possibly saw in Lt. Tragg and marveled how she changed him...made him less unhinged... It was like Beverly said.."The Power of the panties...or maybe this was something more.

"We'll begin with Jury selection" said Judge Mercer...

ADA Bruce Kirby knew a thing or two about Trial Science and Jury selection.....He had some well thought out questions prepared...

But Nelson had the slight advantage...Our technology and my brilliant run down of each of the jurors, the way they voted in elections, their jobs, their education level, et al... We knew it all going in...

Bresha and  Josie, his little understudies , Protoge's if you will, both were helping him today...They sat behind their laptops and whispered certain things they had talked about into his ear.. He smiled.

"I remember how good you guys were on voir dire during the trial in which I went up against you....Nelson is good."said Elaine

''He's our ace when it comes to jury selection." I said

"Look at my baby!" said Beverly...

"He is killing it." agreed Olivia.

Once again..Nelson got a 10-2 split...Not bad, Not Bad at all...

"OUTSTANDING!!! We have a jury.."said Judge Mercer...Trial will begin promptly tomorrow  morning at 9:00 AM, Jurors, Attorneys  Be on time and Be ready for trial." said Judge Kelly Ann Mercer.."You are dismissed." she said, striking her gavel.

Court was dismissed....

Lt. Tragg was standing outside the courtroom...

"Hello Your Honor...I am Lt. Arthur Tragg the third....I am not the investigating officer on this case..Heh heh heh." he laughed.. 

"Yes, I know who you are Lieutenant. I know you intimately." said the Judge..

''So Uh How about lunch and a kiss baby?" he said.

"I already gave you a kiss today...." she said..

And kissed him again......

"Ummmph those two are something else." said Beverly..

"They're uh kinda cute in a psychotic kind of way..." said Olivia..

Elaine, Myself, Bresha, Nelson and Josie all cracked up laughing....

We all laughed and headed out to lunch.

It had been quite a  day...We had picked a jury and prepared to take on yet another trial...That night ,Olivia and I were home and relaxing in our bedroom..

"This was some day wasn't it Donnie Ray?" asked Olivia...

A WEEK LATER-

ADA Bruce Kirby, is a good Prosecutor , I have no doubt about that..but he was handed a case with no motive and very little proof that our client perpetrated this crime... After a few days , even he realized it...

His closing arguments were lackluster and uninspired ...

I watched him as he sat down,looking dejected... 

Olivia, Beverly, Nelson, Josie and Bresha  spent the week challenging him to come up with a motive , when they weren't making objections and citing predicates and laws from like minded cases as well as current law and making the few witnesses he had look foolish.

Judge Mercer was amused by this trial and it's attorneys  all week...and she sat back impressed with Olivia ,Beverly, Nelson, Josie and Bresha...How well prepared they were. She particularly enjoyed watching them humiliate ADA Bruce Kirby, who she had faced in court a number of times herself as a Defense Attorney in New York and then worked for in the D.A.'s Office.. He had been her immediate supervisor at one time.. She sat back and smiled.

"Boy they're good...Worth every penny." said our client, Elaine..

'The real show stopper is coming." I said.

I pulled out a 50 inch monitor and on it the jury was shown a photo of Owen's dental work done on the last day of his life...

"My husband got this from the M.E.'s office... Owen had dental work done earlier in the day on the day he died...He told Elaine that he had a cavity filled... Here is the cavity...It wasn't filled...They found a bit of digitalis in the cavity , a time lapsed digitalis pill that might feel like a filling , but that disolved after a few hours."she said.

The Jury ouuued and ahhhed..

Beverly called Dr. Harry Rather to the stand....

After he was sworn in he nervously sat down....

"You and the deceased  Owen Clifford and ADA Courtland james were all friends weren't you and they were both patients of yours weren't they?"she asked.

''Yes...That's true.." he said.

"You three played Raquetball three times a week didn't you?" asked Olivia.

"Ughh Yes we did!" he said.

''And you all talked about girls.....One girl in particular...My client, Elaine Young.. Courtland had dated her , been pretty intimate with her....That was over....and then you dated her....a couple of times but nothing became of it...but Owen began dating her and things were heating up.." said Nelson..

"No, No, No....She was trying to make up her mind between Owen and Me and I'm pretty sure she was leaning my way..." he said.

Elaine sighed and whispered... "He's out of his mind...He wasn't even in the running." she said.

Josie and Bresha snickered a little bit.

"Ummmmmmmmm Ummmmmmmmmmph, Listen to Hot Girl here." said Josie.

''Work it girrrrrl."laughed Bresha.

"OBJECTION!! THIS LINE OF QUESTIONING IS IRRELEVANT!" said his lawyer, H.Stanley Stanlison....

"It goes to motive  your honor! But  Okay let's go to the dental work you were doing for him on his last day of life....You did some Bridgework here... but you were supposed to fill a cavity and you didn't....How come you didn't?" asked Olivia.

Showing the jury the chart...

"I-I May have forgot...I-I was running late." said Dr. Rather.

"No! You filled his cavity with a mold...a mold laced with digitalis that disolved....It was a time lapsing mold that wouldn't take effect right away..but would disolve and had enough Digitalis to kill a horse...

I have someone from the Medical Examiner's Office ready to testify that they found traces of this mold and the digitalis in his unfilled cavity and in his bloodstream.....They didn't find it at first because they didn't know what they were looking for...but they found it and you are the only one who could have administered it..."said Beverly...

"I have the sales slip for the Sangria you purchased and gave to Owen for his birthday the week before....but not before you stepped on it and added Digitalis to it through a syringe..."said Nelson..

''And this may be unrelated...but with a search warrant...The police found this..

A surgical knife with ADA Courtland James 's blood and DNA still on it ,in your house....that you assaulted him with as he was on his way to what he thought was a late night visit to Elaine Young's house...You were stalking her and you wanted to get rid of the competition." said Josie..

''As evidenced by 99 unanswered phone calls and 179 texts sent Ms. Young." said Bresha ,showing all of this to the jury...

"THIS IS ALL PURELY CIRCUMSTANTIAL....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING" protested his lawyer, H. Stanley Stanlison.

''Ahhh but it does create more than a reasonable doubt that my client, Attorney Elaine Young had anything to do with Owen Clifford's untimely death doesn't it?She had no motive, but your client did! she had no means, but your client had the means and the opportunity." said Olivia... "The defense rests your honor." said

Olivia.

Dr. Rather looked at me with the most hateful stare I'd seen in a long time...

I stared back and smiled wryly... I had suspected him all along.  Turns out I was right.

H.Stanley Stanlison looked perturbed.. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt his client was indeed guilty and that Olivia and Beverly and associates had brilliantly brought this out in trial.  Had he of been them, he'd of done the same thing. He just shook his head.

Olivia walked towards the Judges Chambers a little while after court let out.. She found the doors locked..

The Door was locked shut... and Inside..

"OOOOOOOOOOOH KELLY ANN!!!LAWWWWD!"Moaned Lt. Tragg..

"OH MY GOD!!!!" exclaimed Olivia....They could be heard out in the hallway......''Well, I was going to freshen up a bit, but I suppose it can wait." she sighed...

Her niece, Beverly walked up....She heard the couch squeaking out of control and the voices..

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ARTHURRRRRRRRR! ARTHUR, OUUUUUU GIVE IT TO ME!!"

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SWEEEET  BABY!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

"OH MY GOD!! IS THAT JUDGE MERCER AND LT. TRAGG??OUUUUUUUUUUU!!" she asked putting her hand over her mouth and laughing..

"Yes it is!!!..Those two are something...They can't keep their hands off of each other...Come on let's go home. Hopefully the jury will come to a quick decision." said Olivia.

IV-

COURTROOM A- THE NEXT MORNING!

"ALL RISE FOR THE HONORABLE KELLY ANN MERCER!" said the Bailiff.

We all stood for the Judge..She looked exhausted....

''She looks a little tired." whispered Olivia to me.

 

''She was probably up all night, staring at the ceiling." I said.

"OUUUUUUUUUU YOU ARE BAD!"snickered Elaine.

Beverly snickered .....

''Donnie Ray is right...look at her...." whispered Nelson.

Josie stood quietly...but smiled...

So did Bresha.

"Has the Jury come to a decision?" asked Judge Mercer.

''We have your honor" said the Jury Forman.. He passed the verdict to the Bailiff who passed it to Judge

Kelly Ann.

She read it and smiled.She looked relieved....

"Read it" she said.

The Bailiff read it..

"COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA IN THE MATTER OF ELAINE YOUNG ON THE CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER, WE FIND THE DEFENDENT, NOT GUILTY!!"

"COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA IN THE MATTER OF ELAINE YOUNG ON THE CHARGE OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER, WE FIND THE DEFENDENT , NOT GUILTY!!

"THE MOST SERIOUS CHARGE, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA IN THE MATTER OF ELAINE YOUNG ON THE CHARGE OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER, WE FIND THE DEFENDENT, NOT GUILTY!!

Beverly and Olivia leaped into the air, high fived and yelled "WHOOOOOOOOWEEEEEEEEEE!"loudly.

"OH THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!" said a relieved Elaine Young, cleared of a murder charge...She hugged both Beverly and Olivia....

She planted a soft kiss on my lips...

"THANK YOU SO MUCH!" she whispered...

Elaine hugged and kissed Josie and Bresha.

"Thank you young ladies....you're incredible attorneys and you've got great futures ahead of you...Thank you again." she gushed...

''Awwwwww you're so welcome."said Josie.

"You're welcome." said Bresha..

Assistant District Attorney Bruce Kirby didn't like losing...Something he rarely did, either in New York City or Philadelphia.He bowed to Olivia..

"Masterfully done Mrs. Alexander...Masterfully Done!...I didn't have much of a case....Pray I don't actually get one." he said with a smile.

"Duly Noted." said Olivia, smiling and bowing to him. Theirs was a mutual respect.

Dr. Harry Rather was in the crowd...He walked over to us....

"Elaine...Congratulations....I knew with the legal team you had, you'd beat these charges..I wonder would you be down for some company tonight...I'll bring a little wine, a block of cheese...We can have quiet conversation under the moonlight..." he said.

"I am celebrating with friends tonight..and anyway....I don't think I want to go out with you or date you on any level anymore." she said and walked off.

He stomped his foot and angrilly stormed off.

It was Thursday Night at Curley's- Couples Night!

"This feels sooooo good, being out with you all and not being under indictment for First Degree Murder."said Elaine. 

"Are you going back to work Monday Elaine?" asked Olivia.

"Sure Am....Uh Olivia...Could I stay with you guys an extra few days...?" asked Elaine. She was concerned about Dr.Rather still lurking around.

"Sure...Sure." said Olivia. She was sitting on my lap....

 

"We don't care, we love guests." I said, smiling..and holding Olivia tightly...

"And being around friends..."said Beverly pointing to all of our friends around us tonight.She was sitting on Nelson's lap...She had kicked her heels off..

"Let's Drink up!" said Nelson.

Hoisting a glass in the air.

"It's a celebration !!" said Josie, sitting on her husband's lap ,with her heels on the floor.

More drinks arrived.

Her husband, Paris, a newly minted attorney held her tightly.....

Bresha laughed and held her drink in the air...She was sitting on her husband Tony's  lap...She had kicked her heels off as well....

Tony held her tightly...

"I need a man Ms. Alfreda, but none of these guys in here. I am so envious of all you married couples."said Elaine.

''Don't worry honey, once you go back to work, the men will come. You just watch and see." said Alfreda.

Her husband Rockland just smiled, saying nothing

"It's nice being out tonight....I haven't been in here in awhile."said our friend Nina Rios, out with us again.

"It's couples night, this is the best time for you to be out as my guest." said Attorney Carlos Ortiz...her date for the night.,who passed Nina and Yvette drinks.

 

 "It's a beautiful night." said Yvette, Thank you." she said to Carlos.

"It is...It's not muggy....it's just right." said Gary.

"I used to enjoy these nights up til a point...but I suppose that point isn't coming anymore."said Keith Jones.

"That's right , no aggravation from Lt. Tragg, no fights, no police...Just a peaceful and mellow night." said Bee Bee.

"The Best kind." said Sofia.

"God Bless Judge Mercer." said Kahlil.

"God Bless her!" said Jade , raising a glass.

"YES! She keeps Lt. Tragg so enthralled , he's actually bearable to work with around the office."said Danny.

''Well thank the lord for that." said Virginia, laughing.

Her Husband, Jetty laughed loudly at that...

"Such a beautiful night..."said Jazzy, sitting on her husband's lap with her shoes on the floor.
 

''You've gotten mighty comfortable in here Ms. Lady." said her husband, Dabnis amidst the drinks.

"It's that kinda night." said Kayla, slightly tipsy..She was sitting on Ray's lap...She had kicked her heels off..

Ray was holding her gently, while she lay her head on his shoulder.

Jessica was holding her husband , Chip in her arms...

"I think you just want to feel my breasts." she said.

Chip smiled devilishly....

''B.L.I think I'm a little tipsy." said Karen...

"Here, drink some water." said D.L.

Who passed her a glass of ice water...

"Ummmmmmmmmm more drinks are coming." said Natalie.

"Olivia has us spoiled rotten...With the buses coming, we walk outta here toasted  and in no position to drive." said her husband, David , who was already toasted.

"You sound like you're already toasted David.."said Brooke laughing.

"I'm glad we all ride on those buses...I wouldn't feel like driving...Especially tonight." said Sean.

"Elaine you've been exonerated...When are you going back to work?" asked Zoey.

"Oh I'm going back Monday..but I'm going to stay with Olivia a few more days." said Elaine.

"Good for you..."said Zoey's husband, Lem...

"Look over there in their usual corner... I didn't even see him come in." said Renee, spying Lt. Tragg and Judge Mercer..

"Yeah, neither did I..How nice." laughed her husband, Tyrell.

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ARTHUR!!! MY HORNY HORNY BOYFRIEND!" she cooed.

Lt. Tragg and Judge Kelly Ann Mercer were in the corner, kissing like there was no tomorrow.

It was indeed another beautiful night.

EPILOUGE-

Dr. Harry Rather was indicted for the Murder of Owen Clifford and the attempted murder of ADA Courtland James...

But before he could be taken into custody, he decided to take his life..

He was found in his car, near the edge of town ,dead of one gunshot to the head.

TWO WEEKS LATER-

We decided to change things up by going to a tony new restaurant that some of my musician friends had told me about... 

Olivia believed in sharing the wealth...So one Thursday Night instead of going to "Couples Night " at Curleys ...We all got all gussied up and went to this restaurant's opening.. We had booked 36 seats in their main dining room...It was beautiful and high upon a major building in Center City...

Our Buses picked us up in front of our homes and drove us here...They'd be back when we decided to leave.

"Oh My God! Donnie Ray this place looks fabulous." gushed Olivia.

 

''And from what I can smell from the kitchen, the food is delicious as well." I said.

"Donnie Ray, you still got it! You still know the best places in town to eat and drink." said Beverly.

"I gotta hand it to you man, my wife is right....This looks like another winner."said Nelson.

"This place is lovely and the view...Oh My God...We're above the clouds, above the rain." said Josie.

"Yeah." said Paris, who couldn't take his eyes off of his wife AND BRESHA, who both looked lovely in their skintight dresses tonight that acentuated their every curve.

"The food smells delish coming from the kitchen." said Bresha.

"It does...You found another winner Donnie Ray." said Bresha's husband, Tony.

''Tall Dark and Southern really knows his restaurants." said Alfreda.,

"He told me that one of his musician friends is related to the owner and that he wanted to create some buzz about this restaurant." said Rockland.

Jazzy's eyes were bulging...Looking and smelling all of the good food.. She was excited.

"OUUUUUUU LOOOK!" she said.

"It is amazing." said her husband, Dabnis.

"The food smells delish coming from the kitchen." said Kayla.

"It's going to taste even better on our plates "said her husband, Ray as they gave their orders to the waitresses.

"Ouuu Papi...this place is beautiful and look at the hot steamy food." said Jessica.

"It's the only thing that has taken my eyes off of you." said her husband, Chip.

"I haven't really dressed up to go anywhere in a long time..but this was the best occassion." said Karen Page.

"Yes it was." said her husband, B.L. ,who took a night off to be here.

"I heard the owner's son was in a little bit of trouble...but got a favor done for him by a judge...I don't know who the judge is."said Natalie.

"She and or He is probably in here eating tonight or on their way."laughed her husband, David.

"You are staring at me." said Brooke to her husband..

"You look good...I can't keep my eyes off of you." said Sean.

"This is a great restaurant, ambience, food choices, everything!" said Zoey.

"Yes, I have to agree with you there." said Lem.

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuu They have soul Food on the menu....Wonder if they have soul brothers and sisters in the kitchen cooking it?" asked Renee.

"I peeked in the kitchen when I was coming from the restroom...The Kitchen crew is mixed...just like this  group."said her husband, Tyrell.

"WOWWW This place is off the hook!" said Yvette.

 

"Donnie Ray told me that one of his musician friends is related to the owner and that he wanted to create some buzz about this restaurant." said Gary.

"Well he'll get it....From all of us." said Keith Jones.

"Yes indeed and look at how inclusive the menu is." said Bee Bee.

"Ouuu yes...They have Latin Food and Middle Eastern Food Papi." said Sofia.

"Ouuuu yes....Now I'm excited." said Kahlil.

"Ouuu Look they have Asian Fusion food on the menu." said Jade.

"I like this place....Olivia and Donnie Ray have found another winner for us all." said Danny Ho.

"Oh My God!!! I don't believe it! Look who's here." said Virginia.

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!" said  Jetty.

Judge Kelly Ann Mercer ,dressed to the nines walked into the restaurant..

"Arthur, the owner's son got into a little trouble about a year ago...He came through my court...He was a first time offender, He was young.. I cut him a break....I could have sent him to prison for up to two years....I sentenced him to home confinement and supervision for a year and suspended the rest of his sentence...His Father was very grateful....When he opened this restaurant...He gave me a call...You and I eat for free tonight." said Kelly Ann..

Lt. Tragg looked across the room and saw all of us laughing, talking and eating our meals.

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT...THEY'RE EVERYWHERE WE GO.."he said.

"Oh Arthur, they just like fine dining, that's all...They aren't bothering anyone...Least of all, not you, Now simmer down and sit down." she said.

He sat down......He ran his hands up her dress, She quickly removed them.

"Ugh Ughhhh, Not in here, Not tonight!" she said.

"I'm sorry, you're so irresistible...but this is a classy joint...I should act accordingly." said Lt. Tragg.

"OUUU HOO HOOO HOOO HOOO HOOO" she giggled..."Oh go ahead , put your hand on my leg, if you want to, just don't hike my dress up, you nasty boyyy." she said..

and she leaned over  and gave him a soft, sweet kiss.. 

''When We get back to my place, you can do anything you want....OUUUU HOOO HOOO HOOO HOO!" she giggled.

They continued to kiss until their food arrived.

"Ummmmm Ummmmmph, ummmmph! , the great romance continues huh?" said Beverly.

''Yes it does niecey poo!.... Incredible isn't it?."said Olivia.

"I told you guys....She's not just some pick up that he's used to going out with.She's a Judge and if he wants to keep seeing her ,and enjoying her company he'll take her to nice places like this and behave himself, which he is doing."said Jazzy.

"Yeah, I guess you're right.Since they've been dating, He hasn't harrassed any of us once...He hasn't been in any fights , Hasn't been arrested for violating C& D, Hasn't been sent to the Marine Boat." said Kayla...

"I just wonder how long it'll last." said Natalie.

''As long as he wants to get in those panties....and judging by the way he's kissing her...My guess is, very much."said Renee..

"OKAYYYYYYYY?" said Brooke, high fiving Renee..

All of them broke into laughter....

As we all enjoyed a peaceful uneventful night at a great eatery!
