"I almost hate to prosecute her...I know her...I don't really believe she is capable of this.. A Double murder....Nahhhh." he said to himself.

At Our Office duplex inside our law library, Beverly, Josie and Bresha were doing the necessary research for this case.....They were studying Autopsy Reports, Witness Statements, Predicates, Laws from similar trials and laws possibly used in this trial...The girls were very thorough...

While our client, Beatrice watched..

"My My...you do all of your research in house...No wonder your girls came to court so prepared.." she said.

"I've taught my attorneys, the one who comes to court most prepared is usually the one who wins the case...We try not to have any surprises if we can help it." said Olivia.

She was really surprised by what went on in the next room with Nelson, studying perspective jurors by Race, age, education, political affiliation and what not and making choices of possible jurors..

"Simply amazing....Just Amazing...You guys have the advantage before you come into the courtroom"said Beatrice.

"It would seem so, but you gave us a run for our money on the Lorenz Taft case..."said Olivia.

"I really thought he was guilty...He worked at both Escort Services and he too dated or tried to date some of he girls that worked there...and was rebuffed by at least two, who wouldn't take his money...I thought he was guilty....You proved otherwise...Here it was my husband, dating the girls and killing them...Oh My God....I'm glad that didn't come out during his trial..How embarrassed I would've been.."said Beatrice.

"We can't blame you for what you didn't know." said Olivia.

I walked in just then, I pulled Olivia toward me and kissed her..

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" she said..She was taken by surprise.

"Oh I'm sorry...I uh didn't realize you were here.." I said to Beatrice..

I had Olivia's lipstick smudge on my face..

"Nothing to apologize for...She's your wife...You love her...It's nice to see you show it."said Beatrice ,taking a disinfectant wipe out and wiping Olivia's lipstick off of my face..

Olivia smiled....

"After the dishes are done I'll go down and straighten up the Law Library.."said Alfreda.

"Nahhh, Go on home Mommy, Nelson and I will take care of it." said Beverly...

"You sure?" asked Alfreda.

"Yeah Mrs. C. We got it.."said Nelson smiling and looking slyly at his wife Beverly..

"Aww thank you babies."said Alfreda.

Alfreda usually cleaned the Law Library, but both Beverly and Nelson told her, They'd handle the duties tonight and to go on home..So she did.

Beverly with help from her husband, Nelson was almost finished cleaning up the law library after about an hour...

"Thank you for helping me.I like doing it in here...It's exciting, the fact that we could get caught, it heightens the excitement..." she said, smiling mischeviously..

"I 've been busy in the Media Room all day and you've been busy in here with Josie and Bree.." said Nelson...as they finished filing away everything and tidying up....

He pulled Beverly to him...held her in his arms....

"Look I know you didn't do this...and you've got a team of really good lawyers defending you...Lt. Tragg is an idiot, arresting and charging you with this crime... I'm sure they'll get you off and when they do...I'd like to take you out to a nice dinner..." he said.

''Why put off for tomorrow's uncertainties Dan...Why not the two of us go out now, like tonight...?" asked Beatrice..

"Tonight? Sure!" said Dan....

CURLEY'S BAR- THURSDAY NIGHT-COUPLES NIGHT...

It was rare if ever we invited Lt. Tragg to our table...Tonight was one of those rare times.. Kelly Ann wasn't here...Perhaps he was meeting her here...We were trying to talk him into further investigating this case.

 

''Lt. Tragg by now you must realize that William Newton was the serial killer....He killed at least seven young ladies.. All women who worked as escorts at two different escort services he was representing and extorting at the same time."said Olivia.

 

"You also know by  now....It was in the autopsy report that he had an inoperable Brain Tumor....That may have been responsible for his adverse behavior.."I said.

"I know all of that...Sgt. Brice told me....I was able to close all seven of those cases.but it has nothing to do with his murder by hs wife."said Lt. Tragg.

''We don't think she did this." said Beverly.

"Of course you don't." he said dismissively...

"Look at the autopsy report...Look at the angle of the gunshot, then compare it to Mrs. Newton's height...She would have shot from a downward position...That shot was shot from the correct height..He was six foot...Look at the report and the angle."said Nelson.

"Nice Try... I'll see you in court counselors...I'm not buying it...Your first client, Lorenzo Taft may have in fact been innocent...but Beatrice is guilty as hell...Sorry guys...I gotta go...My Lady friend is here." he said.

Judge Kelly Anne  entered the bar...She smiled and waved at all of us..

"Sorry I'm late Arthur." she said.

''Ah No problem....My uh friends here kept me company and kept me amused." he said as the two of them walked over to their seats across the other side of the bar..

"Talking to him is like talking to a brick wall."said Josie.

"He can never see anybody else's point of view.."said her husband, Paris.

"Can never admit he might be wrong or apologize..."said Bresha.  "I'm sorry..I love Judge Kelly Ann, but you couldn't melt or pour that man on me." said Bresha.

"Beat him in court...That's all you have to do."said Tony...

"Do you guys know who is prosecuting the case?" asked Alfreda.

"I know, Fred Rawls...He's a real hard rock."said Rockland. 

 "I know him....I lost a case to him many years ago...He's tough and really efficient."said Yvette.

"I'll bet you wouldn't lose to him now.."said Gary..

"Nope..We'd be prepared/.." said Keith Jones..

"Better prepared..." said Bee Bee.

"We'd come with receipts like Olivia and Beverly are going to come."said Sofia.

"We'd take him out."said Kahlil.

Yvette laughed... She was young and spunky like them when she went up against the more experienced Fred Rawls.. She looked at Olivia.

"Liv take Rawls down for me..." she  said.

"That goes without saying.."said Olivia, high fiving Yvette.

Jade laughed..She loved the comradery between the two women... 

Her husband Danny laughed too!

"I know Rawls...I won a case against him years ago...I hope you do the same Liv." said Virginia..

"I do too."said Jetty.

"I'll do my best." said Olivia.,smiling.

Beatrice walked in with ADA Dan Giorgio and sat at a table near us.. She had her roses with her and the vase.

"Hello, I thought you all would be here tonight." said Beatrice.

"Hello" said Dan Giorgio... He had been up against Olivia and the gang and Yvette and her crew and had lost both times..We hoped he didn't take the losses personal..because none of us did.

"Ouuuuuu those roses are beautiful." said Jazzy..
 

"Yeah they are."said Dabnis..

"Ouuuuuu those roses are beautiful." said Kayla.

"Sure is a lot of them."said Ray.

"I love Roses." said Jessica.

"I'll have t get you a bouquet..."said Chip.

"I see you went out tonight huh Beatrice." said Karen, who knew her..

"Dan asked me to go out on a date with him after I'm acquitted...He said.   I said why wait until my trial, let's go out now....before the roses died."said Beatrice.

"I like that sentiment." said B.L.

"I do too...Before the Roses Die."said Natalie.

"Yeah, it woud be real pretty."

"I could see Stevie Wonder or Prince, may he rest in peace writing and performing a song like that." said Sean.

Kelly Ann saw the two of them sitting at the table..

A Saturday Afternoon-

We were celebrating Lee Akes birthday,,,,We all went to a restaurant of her choice.. 

 "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!"said Olivia ,hugging Lee..

"Awww Thank Youuuu." she said.

"This has been quite the year for you...Graduated from law school, passing the bar, getting married and becoming a homeowner..."I said.

"Yessss...We've got all of your favorite dishes here." said Beverly...

"Ummmmm and they could become my favorites."said Nelson.

"You like all foods.."joked Josie.

"I do too!." said Paris.

"Ummm everything smells so good." said Bresha.

"It does."said her husband, Tony.

"Ummmmm good hot food.."said Alfreda.

"I want you to think positive...We absolutely plan to win this case and if by chance we don't..We have an appeal already drawn up..We do not plan to give up on you.."said Olivia.

"Thank you Olivia...We are going to be friends forever." said a hopeful Beatrice.

 "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!" said Yvette, hugging Lee.

"Thank you Ms. Yvette..." said Lee, smiling..

"Cheers to you, Law School graduate, Newly minted Attorney, working at the women's law center...Married, new homeowner...This is your year."said Gary, also hugging her..

"Ummmmm this is good food.." said Keith Jones.

"Yesssss... get some of this Sofia."said Bee Bee.

"Ouuuuuuu way ahead of you girlfriend.."said Sofia.

"We are coming back here alone on a date night."said Jade.

Beatrice looked at all of these people....Her entire defense team was African-American....and most of their friends were African-American, Latino, Asian, Arab and a few whites.. They had really been nice to her and had really changed the way she looked at the world for good.. She broke into tears... They all had been so nice to her and welcoming to her..She'd never be the same.
