We were at a large office building downtown....
THE LAW OFFICE OF DANIEL BRISTOL, ATTORNEY AT LAW-
"Aunt Olivia, Auntie Vette, I'm so glad you could come to the opening of my new office." said our friend, Daniel Bristol, an attorney and childhood friend of Beverly and Kayla and the nephew of Olivia's childhood beau, Millionaire Entreprenuer, Stephon Bristol,one of our top clients.
"This is beautiful Daniel....A Beautiful office." gushed Olivia.
"I'm so happy for you." said Bresha.
"He swung this deal on his own with no help from me...Well just a little ." said his uncle, Stephon Bristol. He had paid his rent for two years in this building...Allowing him to make a little money and put it away.
"Daniel, this place is beautiful...I'm so happy and proud of you." said Yvette.
"Thank you Auntie Vette,." said Daniel..He had adopted "Aunt Olivia's" best friend, Yvette Jones-Lockwood as his Auntie also.
"Man this building reminds me of ours.."said Keith Jones..
"And a Gym and spa."said Kahlil.
"You've got to give us a tour..."said Jade, smiling..

"This is so all of you can come down here and visit me from time to time...and here are extra passes for Jazzy, Kayla, Dabnis,Ray, Jessica, Chip and all of the others who aren't here today...Tell em to come down and give me a visit." said Daniel.

"They'll be trippin when they come down here." said Keith Jones.

It was a Tuesday, we were in the courthouse waiting area... We had been waiting for the jury to come back with a decision in our last case since Friday....
Yesterday, they hadn't reached a decision, so we ,along with Yvette and her group , visited Daniel Bristol's new law office, a few blocks from here.
This morning....We thought they might have a decision.
Naturally, we sat outside then courtroom drinking our coffees...
"I've got a feeling we've got a hung jury." said Olivia.
"I hope so...This is our second Pro-Bono case in a row....I want to try a case that makes us some real money." said Josie. Little did she know...one was right down the pike!
''We are doing this as a favor to Natika....Don't forget.." said Bresha.
"Don't look so glum guys...You've won a lot of cases...Losing this one won't sully your brilliant record..I'm just glad I was the one to finally hand Auntie and Niecey a defeat..heh heh heh.." he laughed.
It was good natured ribbing.
"Isn't that counting your chickens before they are hatched?" I said.
"Nah, that's confidence and probability." he said and walked away...
"I know what you mean Auntay!" said Beverly as we tossed our empty coffee cups in the waste basket and headed into the courtroom.
"ALL RISE FOR THE HONORABLE JUDGE KELLY ANN MERCER!" said the Bailiff.
"WE HAVE YOUR HONOR!" said the foreman , who passed the sealed envelope to the bailiff...
She passed it to Judge Kelly Ann..
She read it and passed it to the bailiff....Her face betrayed no emotions!
"Read it!" she said softly...
"Will the defendant and his attorneys please stand up!" she said softly...
Olivia stood unemotional and stoically...
He was nervous.. Charged with Capital Murder and facing either the Death Penalty or Life no parole, tended to made one feel that way..
Beverly held on to our client's hand with one hand and her husband, Nelson's hand with the other.
Nelson tried to hold up...but he was nervous too! This was the first time since he'd been working with Olivia and Beverly that he didn't come out on top in jury selection....He lost a narrow 7-5 advantage to ADA Dan Diorgio....As skilled as he was at voir dire...and a very good attorney.
Josie held Bresha's hand...She thought of Bresha as a little sister and was somewhat protective of her.
I still held out that we had presented enough reasonable doubt to win this jury over...They were all very sharp people and they asked good questions.
"WE THE JURY REPRESENTING THE COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA IN THE MATTER OF COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA VS. MARVIN SNELL , COUNT ONE,
"OH WE DID IT, WE DID IT!!! WE WON!!" screamed a jubilant Josie, grabbing Bresha and hugging her as the two women jumped up and down..

"WE DID IT, WE DID IT!!! WE WON!!" screamed Bresha....
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" they both yelled...
"YEAH! " they both said.

Assistant District Attorney Diorgio looked like the sun had fallen out of the sky....He had had all of the cards, Two great detectives working the case and not Lt. Tragg....He had picked the Jury Foreman and six other jurors, besting Nelson East ,7-5 and had laid out a pretty good case, if not flawed...and he looked like he was on route to ending our winning streak and handing us a solid defeat...
Even a hung jury wouldn't have satisfied him...It was all or nothing and he got nothing...We got an acquittal on all charges....He was stunned....He sat down in his seat....glassy eyed... He heard maniacal laughter in the background..
"CRAPPED OUT, EH DANNY BOY?HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"laughed Lt. Tragg.
''Arthur that's not nice...Now come on...Let's get out of here..." said Kelly Ann, walking out with him on her arm....
He expected us to gloat... but we didn't...We didn't look his way... Along with our client, we exited the courtroom and courthouse. .leaving him sitting alone, by himself. He was grateful that we didn't gloat..
"That'll work for me." I said.
"I'm so happy and so relieved..." said Beverly...
"We'll sleep good tonight." I said.
"The first round is on me guys....Thanks for everything.." said Marvin Snell..."And my mother's church raised money for you all.. Thirty K baby....It's not a lot, but it's a token of their appreciation." said Marvin Snell.
"That's more money than I expected to get from this case....That's great." said Josie.
Marvin knew a rooftop bar a few blocks from the courthouse in the business section... We all met with him there to enjoy some cold refreshing and well deserved drinks...
"I can't thank you all enough....I'm going to keep you guys on retainer, just in case I get into any more trouble." joked Marvin Snell.
"You don't want to do that." laughed Josie.
"He's kidding I know, but hopefully not about the part of keeping us on retainer..."laughed Olivia.
I laughed...I knew that part of him was kidding and part of him was deadly serious....He struck me as the type who attracted trouble, sooner or later.
Beverly removed Nelson's hands from under her skirt... She smiled at him...

Lt. Tragg hated him....Both men were attracted to Pretty Judge Kelly Ann Mercer.... Lt. He expected us to gloat... but we didn't...We didn't look his way... Along with our client, we exited the courtroom and courthouse. .leaving him sitting alone, by himself. He was grateful that we didn't gloat..
We were kinder than he would have been.

James Soliz had once been an Assistant District Attorney...a pretty successful one known to be ruthless and cut throat....Now he was in private practice , a Defense Attorney... We had jousted with him seven years ago and given him a crushing defeat, just as we had ADA Diorgio earlier today.
His office was actually in the same building we were enjoying our drinks in...a few floors down...
