TUESDAY MORNING-

Gary Lockwood, Investigator for the D.A.'s Office and husband of Ms. Yvette was working today..He had already taken his shower and put on a fresh fragrance.

He sat in the kitchen sipping his coffee and watched his wife, Yvette Jones-Lockwood, Attorney at law and our supervisor run through her routine...Which was no different today than any other day..

Yvette got out of bed..Made the bed up...

Took a nice hot shower.. with a sweet and fresh smelling body wash, Lotioned down, put on a heavenly fragrance.. New Panties and Bra...

and proceeded to get dressed..

Put on a cute outfit...

Called her coffee order ahead and paid for it by phone.. She liked a particular brand of coffee.. Not that coffee at her new building's cafeteria was bad, but coffee at this  place down the street from where she worked, Mocha Joe's  was really good..

"Another relaxing train ride today." she said to Gary..

"You really like that train ride don't you?" asked Gary, smiling. He usually drove to work.

"I do...It's very relaxing...It's not going to stop me from driving...but I do find it relaxing...for the time being." laughed Yvette.

and then she kissed Gary softly for three minutes. Gary didn't want to let her go.

"MMMMMMMMMMM..." he moaned...as their kissing got more passionate than Yvette would have wanted this early in the morning.

''Okay Gary, you gotta let me go now." she giggled, slipping out of his embrace..She loved that Gary loved her and desired her so much!

Ms. Yvette walked out of her door..

"Hola Ms. Yvette." said Jessica Sanchez-Burrows, her next door neighbor and an attorney who worked in her building.

"Hey Yvette" said Jessica's husband, Charles "Chip" Burrows, also an attorney who works in her building.. They both work for the Innocence Project, a floor down. They moved into the new building just two days before Yvette and her staff.

"Hey Guys" said Ms. Yvette..

She was greeted by the five of us...Her staff and her neighbors on the other side of her,

My wife, Attorney Beatrice Evans-Jones

Our good friends, Attorney Sofia Garcia - Ahmed..

Her husband, Kahlil Ahmed

and our investigator, Jade Lee-Ho..

We all worked for her at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt in the Bridge Building.

Our neighbor Attorney Josie Boyd, who worked across the street at Olivia Bennett-Alexander and Beverly West's law office..along with Olivia's husband, Investigator, Donnie Ray Alexander and Attorney Nelson East

Josie kissed her husband, Paris...

"Byeeee see you tonight baby!" she cooed.

''See ya babes." said Paris.

Our other neighbors, Kayla, Olivia and Beverly's cousin, also an attorney who worked in our building and her husband

, Ray, also an attorney in our building and 

 Dabnis Coley, also an attorney in our building

 and his wife,  Jasmine "Jazzy" Coley, also an attorney in our building joined us as we walked toward the train station, two blocks away.. We all worked in the same building and live on the same street...Some would say that's too much togetherness...but we all like each other and hang out socially at clubs, roller skating rinks, restaurants et al and in and out of each other's homes.

Attorney Bresha Billips, who also worked across the street with Olivia and Beverly

Kissed her husband goodbye.. She lives down the street.

"Bye sexy" said her husband, Attorney Tony Billips , who also worked in our building and rode with us..

Down the street from us...Rockland was laying a soft and slow kiss on his wife, Alfreda...

"Good Morning Rockland." said Kayla..

'Mornin Neighbor."said Ray.

"Good Morning Mr. Rockland." said Tony.

"Good Morning Rockland." said Yvette.

"Heyyyy Guys." he said. He had jousted with a lot of them in fierce court battles in the past...but now considered them all friends...

"Good Morning!" I said.

"Good Morning, welcome to the morning commute."said my wife Bee Bee smiling.

"Gooood Morning papi." said Sofia.

"Good Morning." said Kahlil.

"Good Morning." said Jade.

Our first big case had been against him...He was a good and tenacious adversary, taught us a lot.

''Hola." said Jessica, who had squared off against him many times...and had once despised him...She had buried the hatchet and welcomed him into the fold now..basically because she loved Ms. Alfreda and if Ms. Alfreda loved him enough to marry him, he couldn't be all bad she reasoned.

"Good Morning." said her husband, Chip.

''Morning."said Josie's husband, Paris.

Renee layed her head in her husband's arms...

Tyrell held her gently and laid back...

Karen addressed her staff , who were already at the train station.

"Hey Guys and Gals." she said.

''Heyyyyyyyy Boss Lady!"said Natalie.

"Hi Karen." said David.

"Heyyyyyy Boss Lady!" said Brooke.

"Good Morning Karen, everybody." said Sean.

They now lived just a block away in the new homes....

From the next block..The last six members of our crew got on, Attorneys , Zoey and Lem Anderson, Nina Diaz, her husband, Carlos Diaz  ,Attorney Lee Phillips and Matthew Akes

"Good Morning Everybody." said Zoey.

"Morning." said Lem.

"Good Morning Everybody." said Nina.

"What's up guys?" said Carlos..

"Heyyy everybody." said Lee.

"Good Morning." said Matthew, Lee's new husband.

The train rumbled on towards town and the building where we all worked or to say it more accurately..

The Street we all worked on.

Unlike the others...We didn't get off at The Bridge Building, We kept riding into town... We had an appointment with our friend, Kelly Grant in court.

COURTROOM D-

"All Rise for the Honorable Judge Reed Reiner..."said the Bailiff.

''Be seated...Be Seated." he said.

"Be seated...Good Morning... I am Judge Reed Reiner. I find that I don't know any of you.....So we'll start with introductions of attorneys." he said.

"Attorney James Lester, representing the plaintiffs in the case of Plaintiffs vs.Jay Scanlon....your honor..

"Kelly Grant, Second Chair and Jury Consultant your honor." said Kelly..

''Attorney James Mclain representing Jay Scanlon, contractor your honor..." said James McClain..

His client, Jay Scanlon stood up next to him...

In the back of the visitor's section....The Mysterious Man who had been in Curleys and down the street from Kelly's Brownstone sat quietly, smiling..

We sat in the visitors section ourselves....

 

 "So Far so good..huh?" said Ms. Yvette.

"Ms. Yvette...That guy in the back sitting catty corner to you...I've seen him before... In Curleys last week." I said.

"I've seen him too!   In Bayside the other week when we were at the lecture." said Bee Bee.

"You have huh?" said Ms. Yvette, who looked at him..

He smiled at her...

"Yeah, he was in the lecture hall week before last at Middleton in Bayside ..but I don't think he's a lawyer." said Sofia.

"Yeah he's been hanging around and just smiling, lurking, I recall seeing him too!" said Kahlil.

Jade turned to look for him and suddenly...He was gone!

"Kelly told me she thinks her phone may have been compromised and that she feels as if she'd been followed." said Ms. Yvette.

''Alright...Introductions have been made.. Let's get to jury selection."said Judge Reiner.

We knew next to nothing about opposing counsel... except that he was no match for

Kelly Green...She took him to school ,getting a whopping 11-1 advantage over him ,including the jury foreman..

Kahlil and I took note..

"WOW!  Glad we don't have to go up against her."said Kahlil.

"Mannnnn you aint never lied..She just gave a Masterclass on Voir Dire just now."I said.

Sofia and Bee Bee giggled...

"Outstanding....We will hear Oral Arguments tomorrow at 10:00 am.. Attorneys, Jurors be on time and be ready for trial....Court is adjourned." said Judge Reiner.

We all exited the courtroom...

"You did a great job Kelly..but that's why I hired you...You're the best." said Attorney  James Lester.

"James I want you to meet some friends of mine- "Attorney Yvette Jones-

 

 "Hello James" said Ms. Yvette..

After we all got home from court that night..We were all settled down with our significant others.. What better way to spend a warm spring night than to be making love.?

"THE POWER OF THE PAN-TAYS!"laughed Yvette..

"WHAT?" laughed Kelly Grant...

"Something Olivia's niece said about women's control over men..He won't betray your location...He'll do whatever you say for awhile..He wants to get back into those panties..." laughed Yvette.

Lead Attorney James Lester walked up..

"Good Morning Everybody..." he said.

''We have one extra coffee...You're welcome to it."said Kahlil.

We all entered the courtroom for day one of the oral arguments.

Attorney James McClain argued passionately that his client Jay Scanlon operated in good faith and had nothing to do with anything that happened after his buildings were constructed and blamed any difficulties on mismanagement and poor maintenance.

Attorney James Lester was like us..He came with receipts...He had witneses after witness testify to the contrary...and on a 75 inch monitor he showed the jury photos of the buildings afterwards that had collapsed and had sales receipts of the cheap materials used...

By Thursday...It looked like he was pitching a slam dunk...and then-

"Your Honor....I have evidence that one of the jurors has been bribed..." said Attorney McClain...

"WHAT?" said Judge Reiner...

"WOULD YOU STEP FORWARD PLEASE?" said Attorney James McClain...

The Lone Juror stepped forward..

His name was Jeffrey Rutherford.

 "Your honor, this man,juror number nine claims that Attorney Kelly Grant gave him 30K to vote in Mr. Lester's favor!" he said.

"That's a Damn Lie!   I don't know that man...I've never spoken to him outside of Juror selection."exclaimed Kelly Grant..  "THAT'S A LIE!" she said.

"The entire thing was done through a third party...A Private Investigator...."said James McClain...

"Can you prove this? These are serious charges..." said Judge Reiner...

On a monitor he showed a video of the night we were all at Curleys..

 

 

"AS YOU CAN SEE MS. GRANT WAS ENTERTAINING FRIENDS, PROMINENT ATTORNEYS .." SAID McCLAIN... 

 

 "MS. GRANT WAS AUTOGRAPHING HER BOOK AND ORDERING ROUNDS OF DRINKS FOR THESE FRIENDS OF HERS.." He added.

 

 

"Now Look, that man right there...A Private Investigator hired by her engaged her in conversation.." said McClain..

A man sat across the bar from all of us.. He kept staring at Kelly Grant...and smiling...The same man we had seen hanging around Middleton Law School at our lecture. he was in Curley's that night.

He sent a drink over to Kelly.

"He sent a drink over to me that night...but he never came over , we never talked...Which is odd...Most of the time when a guy sends a drink over he wants to talk."said Kelly.

"You excused yourself to go to the ladies room and he followed you as if he were going to the men's room.

"This man exited with a package and soon you and your friends exited also...It was 2:00 AM ,closing time.

They exited in Buses which took them home..

You exited in your car and met with this man at Penns Landing..

"Where you met with the P.I. with instructions on which juror to bribe.. You knew because you extensively study the jury pool...You know everything about them, Their Race, Their age, the political influences, their education..et al..." said McClain.

"You are wrong...I was miles away from there.. I was home and I can prove it! Plus ,I never talked to that man in any capacity and I certainly didn't hand anybody any money..."said Kelly Grant.

"We clocked your cell phone and it puts you right in that area."said McClain..

"That's impossible..No Way! "said Kelly Grant.

"Kelly what did you do?  I was winning this case."said James Lester..

"KELLY, THIS IS SERIOUS...I COULD LOSE THE CASE!" said James Lester.

"James, you know me....I would never do anything like this.."said Kelly pleadingly.

"THIS IS VERY DISTURBING!!!   I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO HAVE TO DECLARE A MISTRIAL!" said Judge Reiner..  "Bailiffs take Ms. Grant into custody.." he said..

Kelly was now as red as a beet....The Judge had declared a mistrial, her professional reputation was in shambles..... and now to top it off she was being arrested...

"This is crazy...I don't believe she did this."I said.

"Nooooooooooooo she would have no reason to.."said Bee Bee.

"They were winning the case.They were so close." said Sofia.

"We gotta rep her Ms. Yvette."said Kahlil.

"Yes we do...and we are." said Ms. Yvette.

The Visiting Room...We brought Bagels and Cream Cheese and Jelly...

Oven fresh Doughnuts.....

And A Thermos of Hot Coffee... All from Cakeman Raven's Bakery..

"Oh Thank You...Thank You Guys for coming and the food."said Kelly.

 

 "First things first...We are going to get you out of here then we are going to work on your defense." said Ms. Yvette.

"We think your phone was cloned...Which explains how they have you tracked to Penns Landing when you weren't there." I said.

"It also explains the "Text" your co-worker, Daniel supposedly got from you."said Bee Bee.

"This whole thing was a set up, designed to do just what it did...Force the Judge to declare a mis-trial."said Sofia.

"It was a good set up...a Neat frame.."said Kahlil...

"Your mysterious benefactor is a P.I. named Jake Deegan...I stopped by his office.. It's completely empty....No phones, Computers gone...desks empty and no sign of him at all anywhere... I feel he's left the city." said Jade.

"WOW , you guys are good...but the problem is proving this and clearing my name..." said Kelly.

"Right now, the goal is to get you arraigned and out of here.....I think you should know... James Lester has already hired another attorney as his second chair and has already appealed for a new trial.."said Yvette.

"So Much for Loyalty huh?WOW!  I've been locked up two days and he bails already...He didn't give me the benefit of the doubt...Didn't even call me."said Kelly Grant...

"Don't worry about that...Just hang tight..Tomorrow we get you out of here."said Ms. Yvette.

"Please! I can't spend another night in this place!" said Kelly Grant.
