 Sitting perched on a rooftop above the courthouse was Harold Fitzgerald...better known as Fitch.

He had his rifle , His sniper rifle aimed at the street ,leading up to the courthouse...

The Pathfinder belonging to investigator, Jade Lee Ho pulled up in front of the courthouse..

Jade who was driving ,got out...

 

 Lead Attorney, Yvette Jones-Lockwood got out next....She was flocked by

Attorneys ,Keith Jones,

His wife Beatrice Evans Jones,

Attorney Alexa Pratt...

Attorney Sofia Garcia-Ahmed...

and Attorney Kahlil Ahmed....

but no sign of their client, Brenda Jordan....

He was surprised....

He held his position...

Yvette, Keith Jones, Beatrice Evans-Jones, Alexa Pratt, Sofia Garcia Ahmed and her husband, Kahlil Ahmed all exited and entered the courthouse.

Another car drove up...

Attorneys Thomas White and Anita Brown drove up..

They kissed unashamedly outside the car...

very passionately...

and like Jade...He drove to the parking lot...

Fitch began to worry...

Still he held his position.

A Jeep drove up....

And there she was , Attorney Brenda Jordan, flanked by Yvette's husband, D.A. Investigator,

Gary Lockwood and Robbery Homicide Lieutenant...

Danny Ho.

They had on Bullet proof vests and trauma plates..

WHY WAS THIS? Were they tipped off? he thought!

He took a deep breath and aimed for Brenda's head...His finger on the trigger....

Detective Tyriq Pile with Binoculars was on another roof with a walkie talkie..He had a clear view of Fitch....

"Top!  Duke...If you've got the shot, take it now...." he ordered...

"Okay Rico!" said Carlotta..

Detectives Carlotta Rodriguez-Wallace and 

Edwin "Duke " Baylor

The C.I. D.'s best two sharp shooters fired at the same time...

Both shots hit Harold "Fitch" Fitzgerald center mast in his chest.....

"Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't believe it!  I've been shot!" he moaned and fell off the roof into the street before a stunned crowd... He was very, very dead.....

Detectives Jimmy Barlow, Serena Pile and Hop arrived on the rooftop, snapped photos and confiscated the sniper rifle.

"This is one sniper who won't kill anymore." said Jimmy...

"That was close....He had a bead on her... Grab that rifle...It's evidence." said Serena, who was snapping photos of the crime scene...

"Yeah, but not fast enough...Not faster than Duke and Carlotta." said Hop, who grabbed the sniper rifle and wrapped it in plastic to preserve the fingerprints and DNA evidence.

Down on the street Lt. Tragg was stunned..

"SISSY!!!WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" he asked.

"We foiled an assassination attempt...This man laying here in the street attempted to shoot , Attorney Brenda Jordan...The Murder suspect in your case. We got a tip about it over the weekend.."said Lt. Sissy Van Buren. 

"And how did you hear of this?" asked Lt Tragg.

''We got an anonymous tip and we had to act on it and set up fast. We didn't have time to alert you."said Detective Angie Belton...

That wasn't completely true...They never intended to alert Lt. Tragg...They didn't want his interference possibly tipping off the sniper or whoever else was involved.

"I know this guy...Harold Fitzgerald...A low level hood known as "Fitch", he's a suspected contract killer...We never got anything on him...Who would have hired him to kill my suspect?" asked Lt. Tragg.

"Your case!.....You figure that out Lieutenant." said Sissy... "Our job is done here guys and gals..let's move out." said Lt. Sissy Van Buren.

The Body of Harold "Fitch" Fitzgerald was put in a white body bag and strapped to a gurney...and rolled into the van that would take it to the Morgue....He'd kill no more!

Inside the courthouse we sat in the lobby sipping our coffees...

 

 "Threat averted." said Yvette, smiling and holding Brenda..

"Oh My God!.....This guy really doesn't want to be exposed.." said Brenda, who was visibly shaken...

''Well now we can go on with this trial." I said.

"Thank God we called Sissy and her detectives." said Bee Bee.

" Yes, they are very efficient...Imagine if we depended on Lt. Tragg." said Alexa.

"First of all, he wouldn't have believed us." said Sofia.

"He would have laughed us off and then had his mouth wide open later on......" said Kahlil.

" Yeah, well thank God, we have efficient policemen, Like my husband and Gary and Sissy and her team." said Jade.

"Yeah ,really!" said Attorney Thomas White, who was not going to be trying this case , but was here to support his girlfriend, Anita Brown.

" Let's get this trial over and put some heat on this Judge." said Anita..

The Press was outside snapping photos and asking questions....We had no desire to answer any questions.. We all headed into the courtroom.

II-

COURTROOM B-

"ALL RISE FOR THE HONORABLE JUDGE PERCY REYNOLDS." said the Bailiff.

We hadn't seen Judge Reynolds in five years....We were glad he was still on the bench...

"Be seated." he said as we took our seats...

"CASE 2121, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA VS. BRENDA JORDAN, CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE DEATH OF MICHAEL ENRIGHT!" said the Bailiff...

"In Lieu of the tragic events outside this courthouse I'm gonna try to get you guys out of here as fast as possible... Let's start with Attorney introductions."said Judge Reynolds..

"Assistant District Attorney and Lead Prosecutor representing the Commonwealth your honor,

Gregory Mitchell."said Greg Mitchell.

"Assistant District Attorney Diane Bronkowski, representing the Commonwealth your honor."said Diane.

"Assistant District Attorney Jake Patais, representing the Commonwealth your honor." said Jake,

Lt. Tragg sat with them, looking wryly at us..

 "Lead Attorney for the Defense, Mrs. Yvette Jones-Lockwood." said Yvette.

''Attorney for the Defense, Anita Brown." said Anita.

"Attorney for the Defense, Keith Jones your honor." I said.

"Attorney for the Defense, Beatrice Evans-Jones your honor." said Bee Bee.

"Attorney for the Defense, Sofia Garcia-Ahmed." said Sofia.

"Attorney for the Defense, Alexa Pratt." said Alexa.

"Attorney for the Defense, Kahlil Ahmed." said Kahlil.

Jade and Brenda sat quietly with us...

"My My My.....There are a lot of lawyers, 10 lawyers , whewwwww! Alright...Let's have Jury selection.

To our surprise...Diane decided to do Voir Dire...and she was pretty good...She seemed to know who she was targeting...

Kahlil and I were on our game... and as usual..We had Sofia and Bee Bee on laptops ,sitting behind us, whispering facts about certain jurors to us...

We eked out a 7-5 victory over Diane, with the jury foreman being one of her picks...

"Ouuuuuu they did well..." exclaimed Anita Brown...

"I trained em well." said Yvette, looking like a proud mother.

With the Jury picked...

Judge Reynolds looked at his watch...

"Well that went well....You all are dismissed....Trial will begin tomorrow right here at 9:00 am sharp..

Do I need to tell you all to be on time and be ready for trial, Attorneys and Jurors?  Of course not..We are all adults... I'll see you tomorrow...You're dismissed..." said the Judge.

We walked across the street to Sam Mother's Diner for Lunch.

 "Everything worked out well...The threat on your life has been neutralized." said Ms. Yvette.

"I hope so...but until I'm acquitted, I'm still keeping a low profile." said Brenda.

"I'm glad you went to Bayside with us this past Saturday." I said.

"Yeah, I suppose that your first time out and about in awhile.." said Bee Bee.

''We didn't want you to feel like you were in prison." said Alexa.

"Yeah and Judge Scanlon knows we are serious now.."said Sofia.

"I imagine he's shaking in his boots right about now.." said Kahlil.

"Maybe, Maybe not...I'm gonna keep my eyes on him." said Jade.

"I'm keeping my eyes on that big thing you've got in your trousers." whispered Anita to Thomas White...

"I'm glad you are...." he laughed...

We all had the special, which was Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy and Biscuits...

Lt. Tragg walked in...He looked at us..He didn't know what to make of what happened today...For once he was speechless...He walked by us without saying anything...A First!

III-

Courtroom B- 9:00 am , The Next Day-

Like any good prosecutor, ADA Gregory Mitchell weaved a story of Brenda Jordan being a savvy and very ambitious Attorney who wheeled and dealed  her way through the legal system..Often winning some very ambiguous verdicts...Although Michael Enright was her client at the time of his death...Something went very wrong....they had a falling out and she shot him to death he said... Then hid and cracked attorney Thomas White over the head ,knocking him unconscious when he arrived and found the body.

Nothing could be further from the truth, Yvette argued...Who painted Brenda Jordan as a smart and Savy attorney who while knowing her way around the legal system and cutting some corners....Never broke the law and always worked within the parameters of the law...

Diane Baronski laughed wickedly at Yvette's sumnation...

I explained that Brenda Jordan was called in to represent Micheal Enright an Attorney and Managing Partner at Monsoon and Wedgeworth, Attorneys at Law....He had recently lost a big case , a huge multi-million dollar litigation against a major corporation... He suspected that the Judge in that case. Roland Scanlon...who we plan to call later on in this trial, was accepting kickbacks from major corporations to rule favorably for them in lawsuits...Which there was evidence he had done.. He called

Brenda Jordan to represent him because Judge Scanlon had sued him..." I said.

Diane Bronkowski laughed and said this was all speculation....There wasn't a bit of proof to it.

"We intend to bring proof of all of it.." said Yvette.

ADA Greg Mitchell presented his evidence...

Lt. Tragg testified that he and his men found this in Brenda's car in the trunk.

Kahlil asked him how he even knew to look in Brenda's trunk....

Lt. Tragg testified that he got an anonymous call early in the morning..

Yvette showed the jury his phone..

"A Blocked Number... An Anonymous call...That could have been the killer." said Yvette.

"OBJECTION!! SPECULATION!" screamed Diane Bronkowski...

Bee Bee and Sofia called people from the police crime lab who testified that they found not a bit of Brenda's DNA or Fingerprints on the Gun or the Sap...And that on the sap they only found Thomas White's blood stains...

ADA Jake Patais called several witnesses to the crime that afternoon...

Alexa, Anita Brown, Sofia and Bee Bee came prepared... With their questions and copies of previous witness statements they eviscerated every single one of Jake Patais's witnesses proving that they didn't see as much as they said and their present testimony contradicted what they originally stated...

 

He had been totally humiliated by Yvette's team and he glared at Lt. Tragg angrilly...

He hadn't given him or the team much of a case.

"He's a cutey patootie...I hated humiliating him like that."Anita said of Jake Patais.

"I knooow right?" giggled Alexa.

"All the females call him "Lawyer Bae." said Sofia.

"I see why...And Diane is putting her slippers under his bed... I gotta hand it to her.."said Anita.

"You've got your slippers under a young guy's bed." said Bee Bee with a smile. We all knew about her and Thomas White, her former student....

"YESSSS LAWWWWD! LET'S HEAR IT FOR YOUNG MEN! " said Anita and all four women giggled.

"Order ! Order in the court " said Judge Reynolds, smiling at the four young women's banter..

ADA Gregory Mitchell realized that his entire case was slowly falling apart... He began to make his argument about the car...Showing the jury the photos of Brenda's car.

Her flashy car where the murder weapon and the sap had been found... He asked the jury...If Brenda Jordan was so innocent, what was all this incriminating evidence doing in her automobile?

Yvette reminded the Jury that Gregory Mitchell himself said that Brenda Jordan was a Savy and very intelligent attorney who knew her way around the jury system... She understood evidence..Why she asked would she keep incriminating evidence such as this in her car for the police to find?" she asked,.

Kahlil produced a phone, A Burner phone found on the body of Sniper, Harold "Fitch" Fitzgerald, a suspected contract killer.

The phone was obtained from the police crime lab... It contained the block number that anonymously called Lt. Tragg telling him where the incriminating materials were and it was also a number that was called a number of times by Judge Roland Scanlon... One time, the day before the murder of Michael Enright and two or three times the weekend before Fitzgerald, a low level hood who suddenly came into a lot of money left Miami, Florida and returned to Philadelphia to kill our client ,Brenda Jordan...

Diane argued that this was all speculation, that there was no proof..

And then I shut her up for good... I brought in Lab Technicians from the Police Crime Lab who testified that they found a fingerprint smudge and a thumbprint belonging to Harold "Fitch"Fitzgerald on Brenda's car, near the trunk...

He put the gun and the sap in her car and he called Lt. Tragg with the Anonymous tip...I theorized that the real killer of Micheal Enright was Harold "Fitch" Fitzgerald.

"Facts not supported by evidence.." said Diane..

Ms. Bronkowski what are you talking about...He presented sworn testimony and scientific facts."said the Judge....

ADA Greg Mitchell looked at Lt. Tragg with seething disgust..

Lt. Tragg was as red as a beet....

The worst was yet to come...

Yvette called Judge Scanlon to the bench...

Judge Roland Scanlon was known to Judge Reynolds...Known well...They had entered the bench around the same time...

"Judge Scanlon....you own this summer house in South Carolina do you not?" said Yvette, showing him and the jury, a photo of his summer house...

"Yes, that's mine.." he said.

''And this is your stylish Yacht, moored at Penns Landing, isn't it?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"OBJECTION RELEVANCE!" Protested Diane...

"I'm getting to that..." said Yvette.

Jade pulled out a 75 inch Monitor that showed a payment made to the judge by a corporation , a corporation that he ruled favorably for in a lawsuit...

"This payment coincides with the purchase of your summer home, which is paid in full..."said Yvette, who then showed the jury a bank statement that a payment was made to the judge by another corporation , a corporation that he ruled favorably for in another lawsuit...

"This payment was made just days before you purchased your yacht and paid for it in full.. Co-incidence your honor?" asked Ms Yvette.

"And Just recently you ruled in favor of another corporation that Micheal Enright was going against, representing his client...Mr. Enright and his client lost that lawsuit because of your ruling...How much did they pay you?" asked Yvette...

"Your Honor, Your Honor, the Judge is not on trial for his malfescence...What relevance does this have?"asked Diane. 

"Mr. Enright was suing Judge Scanlon and all of this was about to be brought out in court...but my client kept god records... Records on this Zip Drive

a copy of which has been sent to the Federal Government...This goes to motive....Judge Scanlon here had a motive to want Mr. Enright dead and my client... My client didn't kill him...she was his lawyer..but Judge Scanlon certainly wanted him dead." said Yvette.

"I'm not answering any of your questions without first speaking to counsel.."said Judge Scanlon..

"Very smart thinking...The Defense rests." said Yvette.

And with that, we all exited the courtroom...It had been quite a trial.. Two weeks worth of testimony...

Thomas and Anita went back to his loft in Queen Village.

"They all went to Curley's Tonight...Couples Night...but it's raining...I only wanted to be here alone and warm and cozy with you.." gushed Anita.

"Yeah I felt the same way... You guys have done good  in court these past few weeks..but I've missed you,"he said.

 "That's my job Brenda...A Job I take pride in...defending people.." said Yvette.

"And my job is to protect her and you.." said Gary.

"It's been a very intense two weeks...I'm glad to see this trial come to an end." I said.

"You think the jury will come to a decision tomorrow?" asked Bee Bee.

"I sure hope so." said Sofia.

"I'm sure they want to go home...Just as much as we want to.." said Kahlil.

"We gave them more than enough for reasonable doubt."said Jade.

''And that gunplay the first day of the trial should have sealed the deal in your favor."said Danny Ho.

"It certainly had me a little upset and worried." said Virginia.

"Honey they had some competant law enforcement on it.. Gary, Danny, Sissy, Tyriq Pile, Carlotta Rodriguez-Wallace, Duke Baylor, Jimmy Barlow, Serena Pile, Hop, Angie Belton...They handled everything efficiently and brilliantly...Which is why your killer is in the morgue and not still at large the way he woulda been if Lt. Tragg had been a part of it." said Jetty.

Alexa laughed..."You're absolutely right." she said.

Daniel hugged her..

"Dannnny....Give the girl room to breathe..."laughed Olivia.

"Olivia, thank you and you team for your hospitality and for putting me up." said Brenda , wh had never seemed so vulnerable before.. She was on trial for her life and her life had been threatened...And people who had started out being her adversaries years ago had turned out to be her best friends.

"Brenda...We are your friends and that's what friends do for each other." said Olivia.

 

"Yeah...Now relax...Have another drink." said Donnie Ray laughing..

"Ive heard that line before...usually not in that context." laughed Brenda.

"All of us girls have."laughed Beverly...

She was sitting on her husband Nelson's lap.

Josie was quietly sipping her drink 

while sitting on her husband, Paris's lap.

The same was true of Bresha, who was sitting on Tony's lap, drinking her Martini..

We were surprised when the jury didn't come back with a decision on Friday Morning...It was torture waiting all weekend for a decision...but here we were...

"ALL RISE FOR THE HONORABLE JUDGE PERCY REYNOLDS." said the Bailiff.

"Be seated.." he said. "Has the jury come to a decision?" he asked.

"Yes we have your honor." said the Jury Foreman

Diane smiled at the Jury Foreman...He was one of her picks and she caught him looking at her lustfully during the trial... He passed the verdict to the Bailiff..

The Bailiff passed the verdict to the Judge.

He read it and without showing any emotion said quietly...."Will Ms. Jordan and her attorneys please stand." 

Brenda held Yvette's hand tightly....She was shaking slightly... 

 Yvette stood stoically... She was worried that the jury took so long to come back with a verdict.

Alexa held one of my hands...

I was nervous ,like Ms. Yvette ,worried that the jury took so long to come back with a verdict.

Bee Bee held my other hand....

Sofia held her husband Kahlil's hand...

It was hard to read Kahlil...He stood expressionless.

Jade was equally expressionless....

Anita Brown stood stoically, holding Thomas White's hands...

Thomas Brown thought...This was almost him on trial for this murder....

"READ THE VERDICT!" Judge Reynolds said to the Baillif

"CASE 2121, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA VS. BRENDA JORDAN, CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE DEATH OF MICHAEL ENRIGHT! WE THE JURY FIND THE DEFENDENT, BRENDA JORDAN NOT GUILTY OF THE CHARGE OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER!"

"OH MY GOD ,IT'S OVER!!! THANK YOU VETTIE, THANK ALL OF YOU!" shouted Brenda, hugging all of us... 

 "You're welcome....You should be getting your car back sometime today too..Jade and I will drop you off at the lot."said Yvette.

"I'm so happy for you.." said Alexa.

"Yeah I am too!" I said.

"Ms. Brenda can I drive your car when you get it back...I love that car." said Bee Bee.

"Of course you can...How can I say no to you?" said Brenda, hugging Bee Bee and kissing her on the cheek.

She also hugged and kissed Sofia as well..

"It was touch and go there for a minute,.but we pulled it out." said Kahlil.

"We had a good jury, a smart jury...I wasn't worried." said Jade.

''Wow these last two trials I've been involved with have taught me so much." said Anita,.

"Soon you'll be able to run a defense by yourself." said Thomas White.

"YOU REALLY SCREWED THE POOCH ON THIS ONE ARTIE...THIS WAS A LOUSY CASE...DID YOU EVER CONSIDER ANOTHER LINE OF WORK, LIKE SELLING INSURANCE?" said ADA GREGORY MITCHELL.

Lt. Tragg looked like he'd swallowed a canary..

Some of us heard what the ADA had said and  Thomas White, Alexa, Me, Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil exploded in loud raucous laughter.

''DID SOMEBODY SAY SOMETHING FUNNY? I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FUNNY" bellowed an angry and embarrassed Lt. Tragg.

"Oh Leave em alone." said Yvette softly...

"Tell him mother hen" laughed Anita Brown..

Diane Brokowski walked over to Yvette.

''Don't you ever get tired of winning?" she said and smiled. "Good Job" she said and walked away...

Jake followed her out of the courtroom...

"Lucky girl"said Anita.

"Not today." said Yvette.

Judge Scanlon was brought up on a number of Ethics charges and removed from the Bench and then disbarred.

U.S. Attorney Todd Dellums and a squad of FBI agents arrested him, charging him with violating several federal crimes...They impounded His Yacht and His Summer Home..He was convicted and sentenced to 5 years in Federal Prison.

He was never charged in connection with Michael Enright's murder or conspiracy in the attempt on Brenda's life.

Mayor  Cecil "Get Right " Brown remarried just weeks after his divorce from Anita....

The Saturday after their wedding, We were all at The No I.D. Bar for their brunch....

THE NO ID BAR-SATURDAY MORNING!

"I heard your ex-husband got married..."said Thomas White.

"No Grass grows under your feet.."said Anita Brown with a smile.

"I want your high heels and your pumps under my bed..... Permanantly.....I want you to move in with me." said Thomas White.  "Ever since that first day I was in one of your classes at law school, All I've ever wanted was you...To be in your bed and to be part of your life...but I couldn't have you....You were older and another man's wife....Now you're no longer another man's wife...and I still want you.." said Thomas White,.

"Ouuuuuuuuu you're going to make me cry in a minute...Well let me think on it...WOWW!" said Anita Brown..

 

 ''Well Husband, another successful case.." said Yvette.

"Yes my little winner and we really celebrated last night didn't we?"said Gary.

"I thought we were gonna miss breakfast....you didn't seem like you wanted to get up off of me.." laughed Yvette.

"Did you enjoy driving Ms. Brenda's car?"I asked Bee Bee..

"Ohhhh yesss...Hot stuff it was sooo smooth..." said Bee Bee, who drove Ms. Brenda to Olivia's house, so she could pick up her things and watched as Ms. Brenda drove away, back to her apartment complex...

"Think that'll be your next car ?" asked Sofia.

"Yes Possibly or one like it..." said Bee Bee..

"Wowww, it does look like a cool ride." said Kahlil.

"We are making good money now of days....We can swing it." said Jade.

Her husband, Danny just laughed.

"You want some more pancakes dear?" asked Virginia...

"I'm soooo glad I came out with everybody today." said Toni Robinson.

"I'm glad we did too...I was hungry." said Eric Sellers.

"I'm glad we came out...My other two girlfriends in the apartment are busy today...Natika and Lester went away for the weekend and so did Monique and the Judge...We would have been all alone."said Serendipity...

 

"Well not totally alone..." laughed her boyfriend, Kevin Collins.

Brooke and her husband were locked into a passionate kiss...They had finished Breakfast and she was sitting on his lap...

"It's a nice day today, Sunny, not too cool.."said Zoey.

''A Perfect day for a shopping trip to Bayside." said Lem..
