When The Other Shoe Drops!

ONE MONTH LATER-

Funny how you wait for the other shoe to drop and it doesn't and you get complacent....and then it drops when you least expect it.. 

In the week that came up...We took on other cases... Kahlil and I worked on a case with Dabnis, Ray,Tony Billips,Paris Boyd and Tyrell Jones.. It was a very good litigation that gave Kahlil and I a lot of education and good practice.

That same week...Bee Bee and Sofia worked a simular case with Jazzy,Kayla,Zoey,Lem and Renee..and like ours they got a lot of education and good practice.

a week later, the four of us reunited again gave Jessica and Chip a hand in another immigration case..

We were getting very good at this....

So good that we teamed up with Olivia and Beverly and company and Jessica and Chip and flew to Louisiana.. To it's ICE Detention Center to plead the case of  a Haitian detainee, Who had a Green Card and a Visa.

and was illegally detained and brought here. 

 

 

We advocated on his behalf and got him released, got his Visa and Green Card re-instated and returned him to Philadelphia.

Back in Philadelphia...We worked on a Wrongful conviction case with Karen Page-Benz, Brooke Marks, Natalie Charles , David Charles and Federal Public Defender, Sean Marks.

 

 

We were everybody's go to group it seemed.... Which brings us to today..That other shoe I was talking about had dropped...

We were in a conference room downtown finishing up the will and probate of Grizelda Lewis..

 She had been funeralized and buried and despite Marcy's contention of the will....

an Independent Arbitrator  found nothing wrong with the Will..

Attorney Harlon Dixon who was awarded a cool 2.5 million in the will was here with his attorney, H.Stanley Stanlison.

Marcy Lewis, Grizelda's only legal heir was here with Ms. Yvette, Myself, Bee Bee, Sofia ,Kahlil, Jade and Ms. Virginia... When she was an attorney ,Ms. Virginia had had a lot of experience in Probate court and with wills...She was here today as a consultant...She had helped us immensely, but not enough...Marcy was going to get 2.5 million also,

 

 "We are sorry Marcy, we did the best we could ."said Ms. Yvette...It was our only loss within a month of victories.

"It's okay guys...I know you did the best you could...Come on..I'll buy you breakfast."said Marcy.

I didn't feel as though we deserved breakfast after losing in this hearing.

"After so much winning...You don't expect to ever lose."said Bee Bee, who was heartbroken.

"I know....This was a different kind of case..." said Sofia.

"I still feel somethinfgis wrong here...Look at him, with that arrogant smirk on his face." said Kahlil.

"I know, I just want to slap it off."said Jade.

"Come on relax guys, on to the next one."said Ms. Virginia as we filed out of the conference room.

Just as we were leaving, Lt. Tragg, Sgt. Brice and several armed policemen blocked the way.....

"Hold up!  Marcy Lewis... We have a warrant for your arrest." said Lt. Tragg.

"WHAT? MY ARREST?? FOR WHAT?" said Marcy...

"Marcy Lewis, you're under arrest for the murder of your Aunt, Grizelda Lewis....You have the right to remain silent..Anything...Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.... You have a right to an attorney...If you can not afford one...One will be provided for you...Do you understand these rights as I am reading them to you.?" asked Sgt. Brice.

"I understand...I understand that this is Bullshit!" said Marcy....as she was handcuffed and led out.

"Don't say a word Marcy....Not a word...We're on our way." said Yvette.

"You're her attorney Vettie?" asked Lt. Tragg.

"I am!" said Ms. Yvette.

"Then you know Grizelda Lewis's death was ruled a Homicide more than two weeks ago...She had been poisoned with arsenic ,found in her food over a period of time..  Well my men found a huge portion of Rat Poison in Ms. Lewis's car...Rat Poison contains Arsenic. Just thought you should know that....I'll see you in a few." he said.

"Ms. Yvette you don't think?" asked Bee Bee.

"If I thought that I wouldn't be representing her and I certainly wouldn't have drawn you guys into this.,

It's Monday....We are going to get a group of people who will vouch for her charactor...We are going to contact a Bail Bondsman and we are going to get a date in Night Court." said Ms. Yvette.

"Right!" I said.

''Already on it."said Sofia.

"Let's not waste anymore time standing around here...Let's get to it." said Kahlil.

Jade smiled.

Ms. Virginia thought- "Yvette is like a General commanding her troops... How lucky she is to have such disciplined , youthful, fearless and aggressive attorneys working for her." she thought.

III-

The "Fishbowl" , the nickname the detectives gave to their interrogation room.

"I didn't want to have you charge you....I was looking at a number of suspects....Even your Auntie's mouthpiece, Harlon Dixon....but when I found this can of rat poison in your car...Well, what could I do?" said Lt. Tragg.

"I don't know how that got into my car....I've never seen that before in my life and peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

youuuuuuuu it smells horrible in here.. My God....Is that a way of torturing people into confessing?" asked Marcy..

"Wise Cracks aren't going to help you baby ,you're in a lot of trouble right now.  Why don't you make it easy on yourself and confess...We got you cold!" said Lt. Tragg.

"Oh you do ,do you?"laughed Marcy.

 

 "Marcy, I told you to be quiet...Not to say anything.," said Ms. Yvette.

"Peeeeeeeeeeeeeee YOUUUUUUUUU! It smells horrible in here." I said.

"And it's hot...That's enough to make me pass out.,"said Bee Bee.

"That's enough to make want to confess to anything just to get out of here."said Sofia.

"Oh My God, It smells like hell in here."said Kahlil.

"That's usually the case..." said Jade.. "PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she said.

"Vettie instruct your staff that silence is golden..." said Lt. Tragg.,

"That's alright Lieutenant...We are leaving...Marcy, don't say anything...Don't talk to cops, inmates, ghuards...Nobody about your case...Only us...We are going to get you arraigned as soon as we can."said Yvette.

"Okay Yvette, you're the boss." said Marcy.

"Here write me the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of people who can vouch for your good charactor...We'll need em at the arraignment." said Jade giving Marcy a pen and a piece of paper.

That night...

We were all at home, relaxing ,not thinking about the case at hand...

Bee Bee was wearing another sheer see through Baby doll.....She had just taken a hot shower and walked into our bedroom..

My eyes popped out of my head..I could clearly see her panties.....

She giggled..She knew what she was doing to me....

EIGHT TO NINE HOURS had passed by.

EIGHT TO NINE HOURS PASSED BY SEEMLESSLY...

TUESDAY NIGHT-9:00 PM  

COURTROOM C- NIGHT COURT

The Judge in this case would not be the Judge in the actual case....

Lt. Tragg was not there... Night court was too low profile for him...No witnesses...No media..and a bunch of  Judges  and ADA's who were mostly older Judges and ADA's about to retire...It was lightweight. It was in session from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays...We were quite fortunate to get a date.

It was Tuesday Night, 9:00 PM- We were the next to last case on the docket.

The ADA that did show up was not going to be the ADA that tried the case...He had only the basic out line of the case at hand... He basically wanted to go home...So he didn't really put up much of a fight.

We put up 22 charactor witnesses....It helped that Marcy had no prior police record.. It helped that she was an attractive Blonde, wearing a very tight skirt and sheer blouse as well..

Both the Judge and the ADA were mesmerized by her and released her on her own recognizance..Everything had worked exactly the way we had planned it.

Our Bail Bondsman wasn't needed...

Jade gave him a small stipend anyway from us...

We all walked over to Sam Mother's Diner.   We were so glad they didn't close until midnight.. It was 10:15...We were his only customers....He was glad to see us though.

We all ordered some late night Breakfasts..Eggs, Sausage, Hash Browns and Coffee.

"You guys are my guardian angels...That was the worst 24 hours of my life..Thank you."said Marcy.

 

 "Don't thank us yet....We still have to defend you of this murder charge."said Yvette.

"You don't know how the rat poison wound up in your car's glove compartment do you?" I asked.

"I don't have the foggiest idea. What would I need Rat Poison for?" asked Marcy as she devoured her food. "I swear I lost 5 pounds the entire time I was locked up...I wouldn't eat that swill they served." she said.

Bee Bee laughed.."You were only locked up for a day." she said.

"The rat poison was probably planted and I have a sneaky suspicion I know by who..."said Sofia.

"If you're convicted of a crime, you lose your inheritance and he gains it all....Isn't that funny how he had the will rewritten? We unfortunately couldn't prove any of that."said Kahlil.

"And poor Mrs. Morales..She could clear this whole thing up...I fear she's met with foul play." said Marcy.

"That's the suspicion of many." said Jade.

"Marcy...I want you to book yourself into a local hotel...Under your actual name and a hotel with an indoor parking lot...I don't want to know where it is right now."said Yvette.

Bee Bee handed her a portal.

"This is a Portal....This will help yopu connect with us and learn the progress of yopur case from day to day...It'll keep you from having to come out." said Bee Bee

Sofia passed her a phone.

"This is known on the street as a burner phone...Surender your phone to us...Disable the GPS. This is the phone you will use to call us...Here is the number...Do not contact us on our personal phones or our business phones..Just this." said Sofia.

"You guys leave nothing to chance do you?" asked Marcy.

"No we don't which is why we win cases." I said.

Yvette went up and paid the bill...

"Jade and I will drop you off , after we take the kids home..Pack an overnite bag or two and we'll find a hotel for you." she said.

"You Go on Ms. Yvette...We'll catch the train." I said,.

"We'll be alright..See you in the morning." said Bee Bee.

"Yeah, "We'll be alright..See you in the morning." said Sofia.

"Good Night Marcy!" said Kahlil.

We walked toward the train station...

Within 15 minutes..The four of us was on the train ,headed home.. It was so weird, riding home this ;late at night and just the four of us...All of our other friends already home.

While Marcy, Ms. Yvette and Jade got into her Pathfinder and headed towards Marcy's apartment complex.

Yes when that other shoe drops....
