The Girl Can't Help It!

 

It was great warm, balmy weather....

We all headed to the beach this time in three buses and our catering van....

That is because...There were extra people with us.....In addition to our group of neighbors and friends..

Lt. Sissy Van Buren and her detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division were taking a must needed mini -vacation with us... We had discussed doing this for a month...and it had finally come to fruition.

Nelson owned two Beachfront houses out right... In the first house, Olivia and I, Beverly and Nelson, Josie and Paris, Bresha and Tony, Alfreda and Rockland, Yvette and Gary, Keith and Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil, Jade and Danny , Virginia and Jetty and Nina Rios and her boy friend Carlos each had a room.. 

"This was a great weekend for this huh?" said my wife, Attorney Olivia Bennett-Alexander.

 

"Yes...And I'm glad we left on a Wednesday night..We've got all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday and we can leave Sunday afternoon." I said.

"By that time all of the food will be gone."laughed Beverly...

"WOW!  A Three Day cookout...'laughed Nelson...

"Not to mention we have breakfast cooking on another grill in the morning.."said Josie.

"Three days of total debauchery... Eating ,Drinking, Dancing, wild sex at night.."said Paris.

"Wild Sex?" laughed Bresha.

 "Tomorrow, I'm going up on the Boardwalk to a couple of the shops."said Yvette,

"You love to shop don't you?" laughed her husband, Gary.

"We're heading out to the beach early aren't we?" laughed Keith Jones.

"Oh for sure...We can finally get in the water." said Bee Bee.

"And we have two clubs we can go to...That one at the end of the Boardwalk...and that new club a few blocks down from us." said Sofia.

"At Any rate...This weekend is going to be lit..."said Kahlil.

"After the beach, I may just come back here and relax."said Jade...

"That sounds like a plan."said Danny.

"You are getting in the water tomorrow." said Virginia.

"Yeah, Yeah ,Yeah, I'm gonna get my feet wet." said Jetty.

"I'm going to do a little shopping with Olivia, Vettie , Karen and Zoey tomorrow."said Nina.

"A girls day.....Sounds like fun."said Carlos.

Next door to us in the second of Nelson's Beachfront houses... Jazzy and her husband, Dabnis, Kayla and Ray, Jessica and Chip, Karen and B.L. , Natalie and David, Brooke and Sean, Zoey and Lem, Renee and Tyrell and Lee and Matthew all had rooms.. 

"Ouuuuuuuuu I so love coming down here, getting away for a few days."said Jazzy..
 

"Getting away huh?  You brought your laptop....I know you're going to be doing a little work."laughed her husband, Dabnis.

"No...We'll be looking up sales."laughed Kayla. "Me and Bev brought our laptops too!"said Kayla.

Her husband, Ray just laughed and shook his head.

"Keith, Bee Bee, Sofia, Kahlil and us are heading out to the beach early tomorrow..."said Jessica.

"I'm coming with."said her husband, Chip.

"I'm going to do a little shopping with Olivia, Vettie , Nina and Zoey tomorrow. You are welcome to come with."said Karen.

"Nah, I'm gonna hang back with the guys.." said her husband B.L.

"You wanna head out to the Beach tomorrow  early or you wanna go shopping with Beverly, Kayla, Jazzy,Renee,Brooke, Josie, Bresha and me?" asked Natalie.

"Nah, I'll hang back...I'll let you girls have your girl time.."laughed David.

"I'm hanging out with Beverly, Kayla, Jazzy, Natalie, Josie ,Bresha and Renee tomorrow, then We are coming down to the beach." said Brooke.

"I'll be at the Beach with the guys." said Sean.

"Guess you'll be at the beach huh?  Liv, Vettie ,Karen, Nina and I have some shops we want to check out on the boardwalk."said Zoey.

"I figured as much." said Lem.

"What a great weekend..I love this."said Renee.

"I can tell."said her husband, Tyrell with a smile.

"Tomorrow will be fun..."said Lee.

"Oh this whole weekend will be lit...It always is when we come down here."said Matthew.

Nelson called the Manager of the Beach house next to ours and was able to rent it for four days...

This enabled Sissy and her detectives, Carlotta, Tyriq, Jimmy,Sirena, Hop, Duke, Angie, Sharon Hopkins,Our friend, ADA Keith Wallace, Carlotta's husband, Eddie C. , Sissy's husband, and Dr. Hazel Baylor, Duke's wife..  All very glad to get this mini-vacation and equally glad to have a beachfront house with rooms for them all, right next to us..

"We've been wanting to do something with you guys ,like we did in the early days when Beverly and I first moved into the neighborhood...I'll never forget how welcome you made me, Bev and Josie feel."said Olivia.

"You've always been a good friend to us Liv.....I understand from Danny, you guys come down here a lot. This is nice..Thank you for inviting us...All of this food, My goodness.." gushed Sissy.

"Thank you...This is just what we needed...We usually party among ourselves...but it's sooo nice to party with you and your neighbors Olivia.

"Yes..It's nice to take a break from saving the city."joked Tyriq.

"And while we are down here at the beach, Ole Lt. Tragg is out on the water on the Marine Boat."laughed Jimmy.

"Don't Bring him up... It will be nice to have a few days not being brow beaten by him."said Sirena.

"Let's get undressed and into some comfortable clothes, so we can get at this good food."said Hop.

"Eddie C. and I will help on tjhose grills Donnie Ray.." said Duke.

"Thanks guys we got a lot grills going." I said, smiling.

"With Danny Ho and us here...Looks like the best detectives in the city are all down the shore this weekend."said Angie.

"That's righttttt!"laughed Sharon Hopkins.

"Well Hopefully there will be no Mass Murders or Kidnappings for a few days." said ADA Keith Wallace.

"Don't even think about it Bruh...We are in relaxation mode.." said Sissy's husband...who had the distinction of not being a Cop or an Attorney...Perhaps the only straight civilian in this group.

"Amen." said Hazel.

In addition to our grill...Sissy and her guys brought a grill and we have several Burgers and Hot Dogs.....

We had Grilled Meats on another grill

and Seafood on another grill..

In addition we had Cole Slaw

Creamy pasta

and Pork and Beans....

And each house had an Alexa unit with programmed music..

We had more than enough Food, Drink and Music...

There was plenty good shopping...

and plenty fun on the beach the next two days...

We went to our favorite night spot....one night..

 A Nice restaurant for Breakfast and Lunch the next morning..

And the new bar,a few blocks down from where we all were staying the next night...

It was here that our next case began to unfold..

We saw or rather Beverly saw a familliar (to her) face..

They were kissing...

Kissing passionately and oblivious to anyone else in the bar.

"Oh My God!  What is she doing in here?" said Beverly.

"You know her Bev?" asked Jazzy.

''Sure Do! So Do you!  That's the Mayor's wife! Anita Brown!" said Beverly,.

"Mayor Cecil Brown's wife? The Anita Brown???" asked Jazzy..

"The Same! Anita Brown..THE ANITA BROWN...as in  Mayor ,Cecil "Get Right" Brown's wife...Don't you remember Jazmataz??, We all went to law school together...You'll remember..She was an ADA at one time before she caught the Mayor's attention and they got married..." she said.

"Righttttt ! She was a year ahead of the three of us...Now I remember...but Mayor Brown is at least twenty years older than us and 19 years older than her.." said Jazzy..

"Old Men like women period...."said Kayla, high fiving Natalie.

Brooke laughed loudly.....How many older guys like Judge Wilson for example had made passes at her during her career? She thought.

Lee smiled and just shook her head.

Renee laughed knowingly too! and for the same reasons..

"This aint an older guy she's with right now... That guy looks about Lee's age." said Renee.

"Yeah? Well that aint Mayor Brown she's over there canoodling with.." said Kayla.

"I know that guy....He's an Attorney...His name is Thomas White....He attended Middleton Law School...."Bresha whispered to Josie.

"One of your old boyfriends Bree?" asked Josie.

"He wanted to be..He sure tried hard enough....He was a year ahead of me." laughed Bresha.

The young man, Thomas White didn't notice Bresha in the group of young ladies on the other side of the bar.He was laser focused on Anita Brown's lips..

"Yes she did!  I remember that well." said Olivia.

"Though she hasn't practiced law in years....She did lecture at Thomas Klien School of Law for awhile..I actually attended one of her lectures when I was in Law school." said Josie.

"Yeah she lectured at Middleton Law School too...Tony and I both attended one of her lectures ." said Bresha.

"She has quieted down over the years...but you say you saw her there with another man?  Was it just a friend.?" asked Alfreda.

"Ma, a friend doesn't stick his tongue down your throat or have your skirt hiked up so high, everybody in view can see your panties,"said Beverly...

"The Mayor has been in San-Francisco the past two weeks at the National  Assembly of Mayors...."said Olivia.

"Why does she stay with the Mayor...He's old enough to be her father...and she has a law degree...She could practice or at best teach?."said Kayla.

"The Mayor is power and prestige....She lectures for pocket change...She finds it nice that she doesn't have to work..." said Olivia..

The Man, Ronald Underwood  ordered croissant's with butter and jelly and coffee and orange juice for them both. 

"Enjoy your breakfast Mrs. Brown..." he said..  While they ate..he placed a Zip drive on the table.

"Josie, you have that Bond Issue Case right?   You'll be in Court next Tuesday. and Bree, Take Nelson with you to your hearing next week....Neicey Poo , you and I have a negotiation Friday after next."said Olivia.

 

"These are all small cases that should only take a day to wind up..Nothing major right?" I said.

"Right!  An Easy week next week." said Beverly...

"I long for a big murder case!" joked Nelson.

"Stoppppp! Be careful what you wish for."laughed Josie.

"I have a feeling a big case is right around the corner." said Bresha.

"Hey Guys....There is someone here to see you." said Alfreda.

"Olivia....BEVERLY....It's so nice to see you again....I-I-I desperately need your help. " she said.

"Sit Down, Sit Down....Someone get her a glass of water....What's going on?" she asked.

"I'm being Blackmailed Olivia,Beverly.....You guys were at that French Restaurant the other day and you saw me talking to this man..." she said and put a glossy of the man she was talking to on the table.

"His name is Underwood.....Ronald Underwood...He is a lawyer...I got his photo from the restaurant's camera...He didn't figure I'd do that and then I ran it through channels and found out his identity and where he works..." she said.

"Wow! You did good work, Damn good work." I said.

"Not good enough!   He has photos, Damaging photos of me and another man...Not my husband!

I won't lie....I-I-I have stepped outside of my marriage a time or two....What can I say...I uh like sex, a lot of sex and my husband.....he's away from home a lot...and occassionally, other men catch my eye or I catch theirs and uh...."she said. 

"Photos were taken of you in this man's company....How bad are they?" asked Olivia.

"Pretty Bad, remember I saw you down the shore over the weekend?   They must have had my friend's hotel room bugged.....They have VIDEO of us in the bedroom doing all kinds of things....and then we stayed at the Hilton on Penn's Landing and they have VIDEO of us making love there too as well as glossy photos of us kissing in the bar...everything..He's got a Zip drive and photos, plenty of photos...." said Anita. 

"You think this other guy is involved?" Nelson Asked.

"No! He's been approached too!  Told not to see me again."said Anita.

"How Much Money does he want?" asked Beverly...

"That's just the thing...He's not asking for money...He wants me to persuade my husband to get off the ticket...and I've got a week to do it or else his photos and video will be made public...The scandal will still destroy my husband and myself as well...My husband called me... He will be gone an additional three days....That gives me some breathing room...Very little." said Anita.

"We can draw up a cease and desist order right now can't we Liv?" asked Josie.

"We can, but he's an attorney....He can get by this..and it might anger him to the point of  making those pictures public." said Olivia.

"We know his name and where he works....Let me do a little digging and see what I can come up with." I said.

"Oh thank you...Thank you." said Anita Brown.

"Anita, go home, pack an overnite bag...You'll be staying with us...We have a sub-basement apartment...

It has Central Air, a comfortable bed...A Television with Cable and Streaming and a Shower as well as a chest of drawers...You'll have privacy...No one will know you're here." said Olivia.

"Oh Thank You....Thank You Guys."said a relieved Anita.

"I'll go with her." said Bresha.

"I'll go too!" said Beverly.

Judge Kelly Ann Mercer sat alone enjoying a hot steaming cup of coffee...

Assistant District Attorney Don Giorgio  sat down with her...

"He's done his two weeks...He's back on duty...." said Kelly Ann, continuing to drink her coffee..

"Back to screw up another big case huh?" he smirked.

"Hello Kelly Ann!" came the voice of Lt. Arthur Tragg....In a brand new tyailored suit, expensive shoes...a perfect mani-pedi and a great fragrance...every hair combed perfectly.....

Kelly Anne's eyes lit up..

"Hi Arthur!" she said, smiling.

As if on cue....Assistant Don Giorgio got up without saying a word and walked away....He could not stand  Lt. Tragg and the feeling was mutual.

TWO DAYS LATER-

I walked into the office with Two Zip drives and a large Manilla Envelope containing the racy photos Anita had talked about...

"How...How Did you get these?" Anita asked incredulously...

"I have a friend....He's a much better Private Investigator than I with a lot more resources..

His name is Kevin Morris....and he has operatives who all once worked in the intelligence community...

They found Ronald Underwood's office and beat his safe....They got the zip drive and the back up zip drive and the photos as well....

We went back to his headquarters where both zip drives were thoroughly reviewed...Having been satisfied with that...They replaced them with empty zip drives and an empty envelope.  He has no idea they were even there." I said.

"He had two laptops....They wiped them both clean....."I said.

"Oh My God!!!! Thank you...Thank you so much problem solved. "said an ecstatic Anita.

"Maybe, Maybe not." said Olivia.

 

"A Guy like that is bound to have a Safe deposit box somewhere with maybe another back up....This might slow him down, but it won't take him out of the game completely.." I said.

"My Aunt and Donnie Ray are right...Give us a few more days to follow him, see where he goes." said Beverly.

"Yeah...we have to find that Safe Deposit Box." said Nelson.

"At any rate, we have crippled him immensely..."said Josie.

"I can imagine by now, he's discovered  that much." said Bresha.

Alfreda laughed... "I'll bet he's fit to be tied." she said.

AT THIS MOMENT AT THE 23rd FLOOR OFFICE OF RONALD UNDERWOOD ,ATTORNEY AT LAW-

"WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT????   My office has been compromised!!!

"Both of my Laptops have been wiped clean of everything!!! Everything!!!

"MY SAFE!!! It's been opened...

My zip drives, they've been wiped clean...

THE PHOTOS!!! GONE!!!WHAT THE HELL??  Somebody bypassed my office alarm system!!" exclaimed Ron Underwood.

"She didn't know my name....Didn't know who I was or where I worked....but somehow she found out....Even that twerp she was sleeping with didn't know me.....How did she find out where I worked and who got into my safe and erased my laptops and stole my photos???WHO???....Ohhhh she's got somebody very professional working for her...but I'll have the last laugh.....I have some photos in my Safe deposit box...I'd better get there and check as soon as possible." he said..

The entire office exploded just then, killing Ronald Underwood!
