An Internal Affair

 Another Monday Morning.... Ms. Yvette and Gary's house...

"Ummmmm Gary Honey...Wake up...It's time to get up!" said Ms. Yvette.

That done...They both walked out of their house together.

 "Such a beautiful day huh husband?" said Yvette.

"Hi Ms. Yvette." said Keith Jones

"Hi Ms. Yvette." said my wife, Beatrice " Bee Bee" Evans-Jones.

"Good Morning Ms. Yvette." said Sofia...

"Good Morning Ms. Yvette." said Kahlil...

"Hi Yvette." said Jade...

"Hey Yvette....Hey Gary, would you like a ride into town?" said her husband, Danny Ho.

"Yeah, don't mind if I do..

. " See ya babes." said Gary...planting a soft kiss on Yvette's lips.

"Byeeee!" said Ms. Yvette.

"Heyyy girl..." said Ms. Virginia.

"Hey Vettie." said Jetty, her husband....

Our neighbor, Josie Boyd who worked across the street with our friends, Olivia and Beverly was giving her husband, Paris a kiss goodbye in the doorway..

As was our across the street neighbor, Bresha Billips...who also worked across the street with our friends, Olivia and Beverly

She was giving her husband Tony a kiss goodbye..

 The rest of our neighbors who were getting on the train, got on...Jazzy, her husband, Dabnis,. Kayla, her husband, Ray, Jessica, her husband, Chip, Karen, Renee and Tyrell...

 

This rounded out our crew for this train stop, For this morning..

The train pulled into our station....Upon entering the train , we found our other friends already seated..

Natalie, her husband, David, Brooke, Her husband, Sean, Zoey and her husband, Lem.. They had gotten on the station before ours...

And  at the next station-

Our final friends got on...Lee Phillips, Nina Rios and her fiance, Carlos joined us..

They worked at the Womens Law Center about a block from our building...but they ate their meals in our building and hung out with us..

For the next 45 minutes...The 28of us all rode to our destination at Penns Landing..

The Bridge Building...

Where we all went to have our first meal of the day...A piping hot Breakfast....and then to our offices to begin the work week.

Such a start of a normal work week for us.... The calm before the proverbial storm.

II-

An hour later we all assembled in our conference room....

"Guys and Gals...We've got a big case...really big...a case that threatens to tear our entire law firm apart." said Ms. Yvette...  She wasn't known for making big bombastic statements...So the four of us knew this was serious.

"What is it Ms. Yvette?" asked my wife, Beatrice.

Ms. Yvette tossed a glossy on the table first....

"You may know him....He's one of ours...Attorney William Flowers..." said Ms. Yvette.

"I've seen him around...when we were in our old building." I said.

"I was actually second chair on a case with him once." said Kahlil...

"Yeah, I remember that...a few years ago..."said Sofia.

"I did the legwork on that case for you Kahlil."said Jade.

"We were in law school together briefly...He was a year ahead of me, Liv and Karen....but he remembered me after I graduated and passed the bar and he got me and Karen jobs at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt..or at least he told us they were hiring. He kind of had the hots for Karen.

Anyway, that's ancient history...."said Yvette, who tossed another glossy on the table.

"This is another one of our attorneys, Alana Petrovic..."said Ms. Yvette.

"Oh we know her don't we Sofia?" said Bee Bee.

"Yes...She lectured at PENN, when we were in law school and she bought you and I coffee and croissants our first week at McCluskey/Cozen.Connor and Pratt and welcomed us to the firm.

"I did the same thing for her when she first joined the firm, about two years before you guys...Which is why this is so painful....She is suing William Flowers for sexual harrassment and creating a toxic work enviroment... She is suing to the tune of $6.000.000.000 and she wants a partnership..  He was her supervisor and she just recently made Senior Associate Attorney...She also just got a divorce from her husband...One of our former attorneys.I feel bad for her". said Ms. Yvette.

"Just like us." I said.

"Yes, just like you.......Here is the document explaining her charges,,,,,

"For the past three years I have been an associate attorney working under the supervision of Senior Associate Attorney William Flowers....At first we had a great working relationship...We complimented each other well... I went to Lunches and to Dinners with him and thought nothing of it... At the Christmas Party last year...He came up behind me and hugged me a little too tight and a little too long..

"Patricia Reynolds....used to be a Judge, Now she works for us and is married to Judge Percy Reynolds." I said.

"She's been in a couple of scandals herself...Olivia and Beverly had to defend her husband ,Poor Judge Reynolds two different times on murder charges and both were because he was accused of killing men who she was sleeping with behind his back."Said Bee Bee.

"Yeah she slept with Ricky Beavers, then ASA Eric Becker and that guy that was working on their house..." said Sofia.

"Yeah she has been loose over the past few years....but apparently she's calmed down....I haven't heard any stories about her...and the Judge must love her...He's always forgiven her."said Virginia.

"That's because he's whipped.."said Kahlil.

Yvette busted out laughing....but then got serious...

"That's more than likely true...but Patty is a damn good attorney and I hate having to go against her...I hate having to be against Alana...but Mr. Pratt passed this off to us and we've got to handle it.. The Firm doesn't want to pay our six million, nor does it want to be bullied into making somebody a partner." said Yvette.

"When do we meet with the plaintiffs?" I asked.

"Tomorrow , after breakfast..."said Yvette.

"This is like a McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt civil war." said Bee Bee.

End of the day...We were living our best lives....Working in a modern building that had a tony cafeteria that some say was like a five star restaurant....Eating all three of our meals there...Coming home and not having to cook or find a place to eat...and not having to drive home either...A comfortable 45 minute ride home on the train that put us off, a block from our homes....It didn't get any better than this... 

"Ohhhhhhh I'm going to wash my hair tonight....Beverly is coming over to set and dry it.. Kayla is too!" said Jazzy...
 

"I'm going to watch a little television myself." said Dabnis., yawning..

"Wowwww. listen at us...So locked into our lives.." said Kayla.

"This is what we wanted..to live around our friends or at least people like us. We'll see you guys in about an hour.." said Ray...

"I find this is very nice too... Matthew and I are going to the movies tonight." said Lee.

"Ouu that sounds nice...Husband and I are just going to watch a movie on cable and or stream it."said Jessica.

"Pop some popcorn, crack open a few cokes and you got it."laughed Chip..

"I think that's what B.L. and I will be doing also."said Karen.

"It's a beautiful night....or it looks like it's going to be one. I don't necessarily want to stay in...but I don't feel like drinking either." said Natalie.

"Yeah it does...Maybe a trip to Jakes for some of his Fabulous Hot Dogs...You guys wanna come?" said David.

"That sounds like a good idea..." said Brooke.

"Yeah....We'll take your car Brooke."said Sean.

"We might join you guys there.."said Zoey.

"Haven't been to Jakes in a minute." said Lem.

"Tyrell and I are just going to watch a movie on cable and or stream it."said Jessica.

"Like Chip said Pop some popcorn, crack open a few cokes and you got it."laughed Tyrell.

"Hey can Bresha and I join you? Make a night of it?" asked Tony...

"Yeah, Josie and I too?" asked Paris.

"Sure, the more the merrier."said Renee, who loved to entertain..

"Carlos and I are going to enjoy a quiet afternoon at home." said Nina.

 "Yes." said Carlos, which meant marathon sex.....

 "We want to keep this civil war thing as quiet as possible guys." said Yvette.

"Got'cha...It's kind of embarrassing...Lawyers from the same firm suing each other.." I said.

" I would have never believed this." said Bee Bee.

"Why couldn't he have kept his erections to himself?" said Sofia.

"Yeah." laughed Kahlil.

This had Ms. Yvette, Myself, Bee Bee,Sofia, Kahlil and Ms. Jade laughing loudly and slapping our knees.

"He says the charges are ludicrous and that she's trying to blackmail the firm."said Jade.

"That's what it looks and sounds like."said Virginia.

"He claims total innocence....We have to operate from that assumption."said Yvette.

"It's Pure hearsay, unless there is a witness or somebody recorded an encounter."said Jetty.

He was right of course.

Soon the train brought us all home...

Bee Bee was in the bathroom, She had showered for the night and had just finished brushing her teeth..

There we met one of the Partners...Mike Pratt, perhaps the most outgoing of all of the partners..

"Yvette, guys, glad you could come" he said.

Did we have a choice?

"I want this cleared up as quickly and as painlessly as possible." he said.

"Oh this is William Flowers, who you'll be representing.." he said.

"Good Morning, I believe I know you guys... Yvette and I were in law school together and I remember when the four of you started working here....You too Jade." he said.

"Good Morning...Yes I remember you." I said.

"Good Morning...It's been awhile." said Bee Bee.

"Good Morning, I remember you." said Sofia.

"Good Morning...Yes I remember you."said Kahlil.

"Good Morning William." said Ms. Yvette.

" Good Morning Mr. Flowers." said Jade.

"And you all know Patty...Patricia Reynolds...She will be representing Mrs. Alanna Petrovic.

"Yes, I've known Yvette for years....Hi Vettie." said Patty Reynolds.

"I've known Yvette a few years myself and her team...Good Morning." said Alana Petrovic.

"Well let's go into the conference room and begin with the proceedings..." said Mr. Pratt.

We were served coffee and pastries.,...

It seemed a very genteel way to begin a civil war!
