 COURTROOM C- NIGHT COURT- THURSDAY NIGHT- 8:00 PM

The Judge looked at her...

Olivia Bennett-Alexander, So pretty, So petite, a brilliant lawyer ,he thought.

He thought of Yvette Jones-Lockwood, another pretty lawyer,,another brilliant legal mind.

They both had brought several of their high profile clients through his courtroom...Clients that might have gotten high bail or been rejected period and he had let them all go on their own recognizance...

Not one of their clients had ever jumped bail and all of them had been acquitted...

He liked them because they were safe attorneys...Other attorneys made him proceed with caution.

It was NIGHT COURT and it was Thursday night...We were the first ones up..

Lt. Tragg was not here tonight... Night court was too low profile for him...No witnesses...No media..and a bunch of  Judges  and ADA's who were mostly older Judges and ADA's about to retire...It was lightweight. It was in session from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays...We were quite fortunate to get a date.

He had no idea Jeffrey James  was being arraigned tonight...He expected him to be arraigned tomorrow or the day after in open court.

He was with his colleague Kelly Ann Mercer..

What The Judge loved about Olivia is that she nor her staff of attorneys treated the court lightly...They gave the same spirited arguments here that they would have given in regular court and came with "receipts" as people said.   Olivia gave an articulate argument that her client felt he had been flim flammed by the victim, who had a reputation for such and was supposed to meet with him to discuss re-imbursement of finances, when he found him shot to death. Like a good citizen, he called the police.

She argued that her client had no prior police record, posssesed a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania as did she and her niece was no threat to the community and had ties to the community.  He was presently a teacher at Temple University.

 

The entire time she spoke, I sat next to her, rubbing her legs...rubbing her back and devilishly slipping my hands partially up her skirt..

and Bresha Billips, introduced 10 charactor witnesses who vouched for Jeffrey's good charactor...

Jeffrey sat casually and looked on as we his attorneys made their argument..

The Judge released him on $2000.00 bail.... It wasn't quite as lenient as we would have liked...

But we had a bail bondsmen in place in the event that this happened..

"I finnaly had something to do." he laughed. 

"Glad you did!"laughed Olivia.

 

''We Take nothing for chance."I laughed.

"Thank you guys for getting me off the hook.."said Jeffrey James.

"It's our job."said Beverly.

''We can drop you off at your apartment."said Nelson.

"Uh Yeah...My lease is almost up...and uhhhhhh ruhhhh!" said Jeffrey..

"Then you're staying with us...Pack your things and follow us in your car...We have a sub-basement apartment you can stay in...Temporarily, until the trial is over...and you find yourself a place to stay."said Olivia.

"Thank you Olivia...I was thinking of asking my sister if I could crash with her.. but this is better."said 

Jeffrey.

"It's 9:00 Am.. The Night is still young." said Josie.

"Yup...Time enough to head to Curleys." said Bresha.

CURLEYS BAR- COUPLES NIGHT 10:30 PM-THURSDAY NIGHT

Nelson laughed....

"Happiness is having a husband that laughs at all of your jokes." said Beverly., who was sitting on Nelson's lap.

Josie laughed out loud as as she sipped her drink.

"I'm glad you guys got an early court date."said Paris.

"Yes, we got in and got out.."said Bresha,.

" Lt. Tragg isn't here so far...I hope he doesn't come in."said Tony.

"You know he'll lose it ,if he sees Jeffrey James in here." said Alfreda.

''We shoudn't care... He can't bend and shape the way people do their jobs." said Rockland.

"Hiiiiii Everybody."said Serendipity Harper, who we hadn't seen in awhile.

She was with her boyfriend and colleague,Kevin Collins..

"Heyy Guys." he said.

"Heyyy Dip! Kevin." said Beverly...

"Heyy Serendipity, Kevin." said Josie.

"Hey Serendipity, Kevin." said Bresha.

 

 "Oh Hi Serendipity, Kevin..."said Yvette.

"Hey Guys..."said Gary...

"Heyyyy Glad you could come out."said Keith Jones.

"I have good lawyers " he said and pointed to us. 

 

Bruce looked at us... "Figures...and Samantha is your sister?" he asked.

"My Birth name is Samantha James...but I'm sure you know that...Yes, he is my younger brother.."said Samantha.

'' And you being an ADA can't be involved in his defense...Which explains Olivia and company...Okay! Well now that we've got that out of the way...What was with the stunt last night?" asked Bruce.

"It was the only way I was going to sleep peacefully by myself.. Which I plan to do from now on.. I noticed when I came in the office today, every single vase of flowers you sent me was gone..Pretty Petty! That's okay..I don't care." said Samantha.

"It's almost two O'clock...Let's get out of here."said Alfreda as we all began to pile out..

"I hope she makes it home alright." said Rockland.

Brooke was laughing so hard, Sean had to hold her.

Olivia  also took his phone and disabled the GPS so that he couldn't be tracked.

and a Portal...so that he didn't have to be up here with us everyday. He could study in the basement and be kept up to date about his case...

Nelson was in the next room...Checking out future jurors , studying their races, age, politics and employment . 

It was business as usual.

I looked at the blood splatter  and blood on the floor, I studied where the body had fallen..

I went to police headquarters and looked at the gun.... It was as I suspected, a street gun, not registered to anybody that probably had been passed around...

This looked more and more like a professional hit to me every minute.
