Toni, Exonerated

 Trial Day!  Usually a somber or quiet day....Today was different..

Nicholas Smith, who graduated from law school with our client, Toni Robinson and had been her constant companion for the past few days now surprised us with coffees from Cakeman Raven's Bakery..

"Hot Coffees, come and get it guys and gals." he said.

He passed us hot steaming tumblers of coffee and nice warm pastries....A Sweet treat for the first day of trial.

 

 "Ouuuuuuu thank you.....Toni you've got a keeper with Nick..." said Yvette.

"He's a real doll...and he gives me something to hope for at the end of the trial." said Toni.

"He gives me something to hope for in the mornings before trial."I laughed as I munched on my pastry..

"Oh hush up silly....Thank you Nick.."laughed Bee Bee.

"Yes thank you." said Sofia.

"Thanks Man....This is just what we need."said Kahlil.

"Thank You" said Jade....

Toni introduced us to Nick the day after he spent he night with her...

He had drinks with us at The No ID BAR that Friday Night..

and Brunch with us the next morning..

and got on the buses with us for our trip to the Bayside Shopping Centers..

For Shopping , Eating and hanging out with us guys and Roller Skating the night away with the rest of us...  We all liked him.. 

"Ouuuuuu girl, you got yourself a real keeper and he's cute too!" gushed Jazzy.

''And a Gentlemen too...Not at all like Bruce..."said Toni.

 

"Few people are like that guy."laughed Jazzy's husband, Dabnis.

"I'm happy for you....Anything is an improvement over Bruce." said Kayla.

''Amen..."said Ray.

"It's amazing he gets any dates at all...Making women pay the drink tab...then becoming an Octopus, grabbing all over them, ripping their underwear off."scoffed Jessica.

"I must admit...He has a unique technique.." said Chip.

"Technique?? Is that what it is.?" asked Karen...

"The Kind of Technique that could have him brought up on sexual assault charges if he doesn't cut it out." said B.L.

"Or Murdered!" said Natalie.

David Cracked up laughing....

"She's right you know."said Brooke.

"David,listen at these two prosecutors."laughed Sean.

"I know right."laughed Zoey.

Lem laughed too.

"I'm really happy for you girl and good luck next week on your trial."said Renee.

"Yeah Good Luck."said Tyrell.

"Thank You all for your friendship, love and support."said Toni,.

"Know that we are all pulling for you and any additional help Yvette needs...She's got it here."said Lee Phillips.

"Yeah most definitely..." said Matthew.

"You'll be alright." said Nina.

"Yes..." said Carlos. 

"Well Vettie, Trial begins Monday, you ready girlie?" asked Olivia.

"Oh Yeah, as ready as I'll ever be." said Yvette.

 

"I know you've provided her with all the information she needs Jade."said Donnie Ray.

"Oh More...This case was easier than most." said Jade..

''And I know my little sisters are ready to wreck shop." said Beverly.

"I can't wait to get into court..."said Bee Bee.

"After reading case files all week and looking up stuff on your lap top you're ready to get into court and argue."said Sofia.

"I know that's right...and you guys know the jurors you want ." asked Nelson.

"Sure do."I said.

"Hey , we were taught by the very best...You and Ms. Yvette." said Kahlil..

"Now enough talk about trials...It's Christmas season and we are here..Let's shop." said Josie.

"I'm all about that." said Toni.

"Hey man...you can hang out with us guys...We have a spot we got to...Good Eats and TV screens all over the place. We can catch some games."said Paris.

"Heyyy that's right up my alley." said Nick.

"It'll be a good time."said Tony.

"Come on Toni....We've got some nice shops to show you."said Bresha.

"Ouuuuuuuuuu sounds exciting."said Toni.

"Come on Virginia...you said you wanted to look at some new shoes."said Alfreda.

"Ouu I dooo." said Virginia.

"Come on Rockland, Danny...I know a nice wine and spirits shoppe and a place you can get some good cigars." said Jetty.

"Lead the way." said Rockland..

''Right behind you."said Danny Ho. 

This Morning Lt. Tragg and ADA Kevin Bellamy walked into the waiting area...They saw us all eating pastries and drinking hot coffee...

"Look at em...Drinking coffee, eating sweets....Let em enjoy it now...They'll be crying later.."snarled Lt. Tragg.

"I can't wait to get in the courtroom."laughed ADA Kevin Bellamy.

in a corner- Toni and Nick were kissing passionately......

 

"Break it up you two...court time."said Ms. Yvette.

Watching the entire thing from the corner was Bruce Greene....and he was livid.. He kicked a trash can until it dented and jumped up and down...screaming.

"WHOOOOORE!"

It was trial time.

II-

COURTROOM B-

"Docket 147-Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Antoinette Robinson, charged with the second degree murder of Jhett Garland." said the Bailiff.

Judge Michael King was the judge....

Both ADA  Kevin Bellamy and Lt. Tragg were overjoyed that he was the judge...

"Thank God We got him and not some liberal bleeding heart Judge." said ADA Kevin Bellamy.

"Yeah Mike is tough!" said Lt. Tragg.

"Good Morning Attorneys ,Jurors...Welcome to my courtroom...I am Judge Michael King,....Welcome to my courtroom.... Due to courtroom crowding of cases, we are going to bypass a preliminary hearing...We know that a crime, a henious crime has been committed so we are going to go straight to trial. I expect some of you are tired of hearing this...but it is what it is..We are trying to wind down our case load. We will have Jury selection today. Trial could begin  tomorrow morning if we seat a jury today."he said." "We will start today with introductions." she said.

"I am Assistant District Attorney Kevin Bellamy." he said,.

 

 "Yvette Jones-Lockwood , Lead Attorney for the Defense." said Ms. Yvette.

" Keith Jones, Attorney for the Defense." I said.

"Beatrice Evans-Jones, Attorney for the Defense."said my wife, Bee Bee.

"Sofia Garcia-Ahmed,Attorney for the defense." said Sofia

"Kahlil Ahmed, Attorney for the defense." said Kahlil.

Jade sat quietly and softly held  Toni's hand...

Toni's hand was sweating.

"Excellent !  Now we 'll have Jury selection."said Judge King.

ADA Kevin Bellamy had been around awhile and was a whiz at Jury selection...He had very good questions...

But Kahlil and Myself had been around just as long and we also had good questions...Better questions.We also had Sofia and Bee Bee assisting us on their laptops..

We had actual jurors targeted and questions for them based on education, politics, age, race et al...

We battled to a 7-5 split going our way...a Narrow victory for us...

"OUTSTANDING!!  "OUTSTANDING!! Alright...We have a jury....Trial will begin tomorrow at 9:00 AM Sharp...Attorneys, Jurors be on time and be ready for trial.  Court is dismissed. " said Judge Stiers.

"Well, here we go huh?" said Toni....a little nervous.

"Yes, here we go." said Yvette.

THE NEXT DAY-

Kevin Bellamy was a very good lawyer...and a very successful Assistant District Attorney-

He didn't lose much...He had won 88 straight cases ,dating back a few years... He was a very articulate young man and gave an excellent sumnation of the incidents and situations that lead according to him , a young woman who disobeyed her employer and was about to be fired..

He showed the shocked jury large glossies of the lurid and bloody murder scene......for shock affect and vowed to create a timeline to prove that a very "angry Career girl murdered her boss after being fired."

Yvette argued that her client was sexually assaulted by her former employer and showed blow up glossies of the deceased Jhett Garland lying on the office floor with his zipper to his trousers down and his penis exposed as well as dried semen on the floor and on his trousers...

She called members of the Medical Examiner's Office up who testified that there was indeed dried semen on the floor and on his trousers...

Kevin Bellamy presented the wine bottle...The murder weapon that had Mr. Garland's blood and brain matter on it.

I mentioned that our clients fingerprints , nor DNA was found on the murder weapon and I brought in people from the Medical Examiners Office who testified to as much...

ADA Bellamy brought in several witnesses who testified they saw our client fleeing the building right after the specified time of the murder... He even showed the jury video footage of her fleeing the building....

He was certain he had wrapped his case up within three days.

"Our turn is next....We are going to put you on the stand and you are going to tell everything." said Yvette.

III-

Yvette opened up her defense by putting Toni on the stand...She knew this was going to open her up to fierce questioning by Kevin , but we used 

seasoned former prosecutors, Jazzy, Natalie and Brooke to get her ready.....They nearly brought her to tears, but it was to get her ready for the cross examination that was coming.

Antoinette ,coached by Bee Bee and Sofia told her story..

"Take your time..."said Bee Bee.

"Tell us what happened that night." said Sofia.

Toni told her story...

"Jhett called me at around 9:30 pm...I was getting dressed to go out...I was going to join you guys at Curleys, even though I didn't have a plus one.. He said he needed to talk to me in person at the office.

I figured he was going to fire me....I figured I might as well get it out of the way....

He was sitting at his desk...He had downed a bottle of wine and there was another bottle on the table he hadn't opened yet.

He said, "You know Toni you have caused me a great deal of professional embarrassment  this week and have caused me a deep personal loss.... I told you I wasn't going to use those two witnesses...I told you one had a criminal record and wouldn't be seen as reliable and the other one just didn't seem to be on the up....Didn't I stress this in trial preparation....but YOU...YOU couldn't let that go could you?....You went to another lawyer, Yvette Jones and gave her those two witnesses,.....She called them during the appeal and she roasted me as well and everything was upside down...  Now I face disciplinary action from the bar association as does Mrs. Jeffries..." he said softly...

"Were you trying to send YOUR CLIENT, her husband to jail?  Were you trying to do that when you KNEW he was innocent?  Who are you?  I thought you were a brilliant defense attorney...But I've lost all faith in you now...If you want to fire me, go ahead...because I can't stomach working for you any longer." I said.

"Have some wine." he said softly...

"No thanks, I'll be going now." I said.

He blocked the door...

"You owe me..." he said.

"I don't owe you anything." I said.

"YES YOU DOOOO!" he said.

And he grabbed me and kissed me

through me up against the wall and continued kissing me , nearing putting his tongue down my throat...I couldn't believe this was happening between us. He unzippered his trousers.....He was massive and very hard....

"Let me go please! Don't pull your pants down...pull your zipper back up!" I demanded...

"You know, I don't live too far from here...If you come home with me...We can talk about you keeping your job." he said.

"No thank you..." I said.

He slipped his hands up under my dress.. and was rubbing my legs and yanking really hard on the waistband of my panties.

"Take your hands from under my dress...." I said...

"OUUUUUUUUUUU YOUR PANTIES MATCH YOUR DRESS!" he moaned.

"PLEASE STOP!!! PLEASE STOP!" I cried out...I pulled my dress back down....

Jhett pulled me to him, His hand was still up my skirt...He tugged on the waistband of  my panties, I finally moved his hands from under my skirt.........He attempted to kiss me again, but this time I moved my head...He tried to move it back, but I moved away....

"YOU OWE ME!" he said.

"I DON'T OWE YOU NOTHIN....NOW LET ME GO!" I said.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, come here baby....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you've got me hotter than a cigarette at a gas station.." he moaned..
He grabbed my butt and pulled me into him, He kissed my neck and the side of her face....I eased out of his embrace once again..

He knocked over a chair...Some of his briefs fell to the floor...He was now grinding me up against the wall and breathing heavily...

He ejaculated in his trousers.....his zipper was down , and all over my dress....

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" he moaned...

I kneed him in his groin and he yelled out in pain...He slapped me and I slapped him back..

He fell and hit his head up against his desk...

It opened a gash in his head...He was bleeding, but alive...

He stood up, holding his bloody head and screamed..

"GET THE HELL OUT THEN!   YOU'RE FIRED!!!" he said..

"I ran to the ladies room.... I had a large semen stain on my skirt...I went in the ladies room and washed that part of my skirt off.. It was still wet when I came back...

When I walked past his office..

I saw him lying on the floor...He was obviously dead....Someone else had stepped in that office after I left...It wasn't me Ms. Yvette...He was alive when I left him, he was  standing up...I swear." said Toni.

"TAke it easy." said Bee Bee.

''Aye Mios Dios. You did just fine" said Sofia.

"What did you do next?" asked Kahlil softly.

"I didn't touch anything ...I got the hell out of there as fast as I could."said Toni.

"A Nice Story...Nice Story, but I'm not buying it... Maybe he had a little to drink, Maybe he made a move on you....but you had time to just leave...You didn't have to kill him...You were angry and you bashed him in the head and killed him." said ADA Kevin Bellamy.

"No I did not kill him....He was angry and frustrated that he ejaculated so fast and embarrassed....He ordered me out of his office...Now while I was in the ladies room I have no idea who else was there and what might have happened.?" she said.  She stuck to her story and try as he might...He could not move her.

Kahlil called Judge Michael Jeffries...He had recently been acquitted of Bribery Charges....

"If it wasn't for this young lady I might be in jail right now....Jhett Garland through my case...He did it because he was having an affair with my wife and they wanted me out of the way.. She knew about two witnesses who might have changed the direction of my case who Garland failed to call purposely.

She went to Mrs. Jones -Lockwood and she was able to get my conviction overturned thanks to this brave young lady.  Garland was a snake, I wouldn't put it past him to have tried to make a move on this young lady." said the Judge.

"OBJECTION!!! OBJECTION!" screamed Kevin Bellamy...

"SUSTAINED! SUSTAINED!" said Judge Michael King.

Yvette called her final witness-

Lisa Jeffries, the soon to be former wife of Judge Jeffries....She was now living in a hotel...Her things were in storage and she was not happy about being here.

"Mrs. Jeffries you were having an affair with your husband's lawyer, Jhett Garland were you not?" asked Yvette.

"I was not!" she said.

"Perjury is a serious offense." said Bee Bee.

Jade passed Bee Bee copies of Emails sent between the two of them...Lurid Emails giving times and dates of their illicit trysts and the locations.

"You and Jhett Garland were having an affair, just as he said in court...."said Bee Bee.

Lisa Hung her head low and sighed.

"Our investigator subpoenaed your smart watch and we got a track listing of your movements on and around the day of and after the murder..."said Sofia.

 

"It seems YOU WERE ALSO IN THAT BUILDING THE NIGHT OF THE MURDER!!!    "I said.

''And we have film footage....This film footage taken from the ATM machine across the street of YOU leaving the same building....Not fleeing, but calmly walking out of the building minutes after Ms. Robinson ran out....You want to tell us what YOU were doing in the building Mrs. Jeffries?" asked Kahlil.

"I think you were still angry about Jhett's betrayal in court and you walked up on him sexually assaulting Ms. Robinson and when she fled , you made your move and you killed him....Furthermore when forensics compares that unidentified palm print on the wine bottle to yours ...I THINK THEY'LL

FIND A MATCH!" said Yvette.

"I'd like to....I'd like to speak to an attorney." said Lisa Jeffries quietly.

"That's a good idea.....THE DEFENSE RESTS YOUR HONOR!" said Yvette.

''Why didn't you look into the palm print?  Why didn't you question Lisa Jeffries?" asked ADA Kevin Bellamy.

Lt. Tragg was a s red as a beet...He looked like he'd swallowed a canary.....

We rested our case.

IV-

A DAY LATER-

"Has the jury come to a decision?" asked Judge King.

"We have your honor." said the Jury Foreman , who by the way was one of the five jurors ,ADA Kevin Bellamy had won.

The jury foreman placed the envelope in the Bailiff's hands...She gave it to the judge, who read it...then passed it to the bailiff....

"Read it!" he said.

"We the jurors ,representing the Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania in the matter of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs Antoinette Robinson finds the defendent, NOT GUILTY on the charge of Second degree Murder and NOT GUILTY of the charge of using a weapon to commit a violent felony." she read.

"OHHHHHHHHH THANK YOU MS. YVETTE, MR. KEITH, MS. BEATRICE, MS SOFIA, MS JADE AND MR. KAHLIL!!!" Toni yelled out, hugging us all.

 

 "You are sooo welcome baby!" said Yvette..

"You're welcome."I said

"You're so welcome!" said Bee Bee.

"You're Welcome." said Sofia.

"You're Welcome." said Kahlil.

''All in a days work." said Jade.

"Come here Toni...I have someone for you to meet.."said Yvette. "This is Brenda Jordan...She's an Attorney friend of ours and she has a job offer for you."said Yvette.

"I've heard good things about you young lady....My firm can use bright young and fearless Attorneys like you....Yvette has already forwarded your resume....We have a job opening for you at my firm if you want it." said Brenda.

"Oh thank you..Thank you...I'll be in your office on Monday Morning."said a very happy Toni.

Nick walked up just then..  "Oh Hello Ms. Brenda." he said.

"Toni this is Nick, he's one of our new attorneys at my firm..."said Brenda.

"He's my boyfriend." said Toni...

"Oh then you should enjoy working at my firm."laughed Brenda.

We all smiled.

 

 

But everyone wasn't smiling...

"You really screwed the pooch on this and I won't forget it!  YOU WON'T FORGET IT EITHER!" snarled ADA Kevin Bellamy.

"Is that a threat Junior?" snarled Lt. Tragg..

"You'll see." said ADA Bellamy, walking off.

Standing off to side and listening to the whole thing was ADA Bruce Greene, laughing his head off./

EPILOUGE-

U.S. Attorney Lisa Jeffries was disbarred and later tried and convicted of the murder of Jhett Garland.

She was sentenced to 25-30 years. A lot more lenient than she deserved.

After a written complaint from ADA Bellamy and a Call from D.A. Garcetti about Lt. Tragg's terrible investigation during the Robinson Case,, The Deputy of Operations sent him to the Marine Boat for the next Three weeks.  He was livid and vowed to get even with Kevin Bellamy if it was the last thing he did!

NIGHTFALL-

Ms. Yvette arrived at home after our day in court.

Her Husband, Gary was up...he had showered and had her Organic Orange Tea ready for her..

"I heard you guys won in court today and hoked the little lady up with a job...Not bad...Not bad." he said.

"Thank you baby..... Yes...it ended well for her and I'm glad..She's a good kid."said Yvette.

''Yeah, she seems like it... I'm happy for her and happy for you....You get a little rest.""said Gary.

"Yeah, unzip me.. I hope we have a nice long rest....At least until the new year," said Ms. Yvette....

"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm that's what I want...What I need....OUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she moaned as they began to softly kiss.....

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU it's what I want too! More of Youuuuuu." he moaned..

"I know it's what you want.." she laughed......
