Assistant District Attorney Bruce Greene sat in Sam Mother's Diner drinking coffee...

He was clearly upset...He was shaking something terrible and tears were flowing from his eyes...

Ginger, who he had been so happy with, had left him...Broken up with him for seemingly no reason.

It had to be another man he reasoned....but who?  There was no man in Curleys she was talking to...WHO? he wondered...

It had to be some slick talking Doctor where she worked, he reasoned....

He sat in a corner of the counter...No one dared say anything to him...

Meanwhile a few blocks away....at police headquarters..Lt. Tragg and his men were still interrogating

Colin Pollard. He had been up for eight hours straight...He was tired..

Being an Attorney , he fully understood that anything he said could be used against him...So he said nothing..

Two Hardboiled Detectives had been grilling him all night...

Lt. Tragg walked in with coffees for his detectives..

"Hey Guys,Anything?" he asked.

He had a lipstick smudge on his face and his lapel...

"Nothin...He's been tight lipped all night...Won't say a word."said one detective.

"He's a lawyer.. he knows anything he says we can use in court." said another attorney... 

''And that's why he 's really not going to be able to help you guys any further." said Olivia as we entered the room.

"Olivia, Donnie Ray, Nelson, Bev, so glad to see you guys."said Colin, finally speaking.

 

"CRIMMINY!  YOU GUYS!" snarled Lt. Tragg.

"Colin , we brought you some coffee." I said ,placing  a Thermos on the desk.

"Oh thank you."said Colin, who eagerly poured himself a cup of coffee...

"Gentleman , Can we have the room?" asked Beverly sweetly..

"Yeah Sure "said one of the detectives.

"I'm tired Charlie...Let's go over to Sam Mother's Diner and get Breakfast.." said another Detective..

"Arggghhhhh, He's as guilty as hell Liv, Guilty as hell...I don't care if he's your friend or not." said Lt. Tragg.

"Can we have the room please?" asked Olivia., who took out a disinfectant wipe and wiped the lipstick smudge off of his lapel...

"Thank you Liv..." said Lt Tragg grudingly as he left the room.

"Well I gotta admit...It smells better in here."said Nelson.

"Yes it does...I guess they've been doing a little cleaning." said Josie.

"If what those detectives say is true...You've done the right thing...You haven't said a word and that's good."said Bresha.

"You know not to say a word to anyone in here, Not Cops, Detectives , Guards and especially not inmates... Everybody in here is looking to make a deal of some kind...So just keep doing what you're doing."said Beverly..

"Duly Noted." laughed Colin.

"We are not going to discuss the case here...So you just sit tight...We are going to try and get you out of here."said Olivia.

I had told Olivia that when I was a detective...We always had listening devices and micro-cameras in the interrogation room, so we could hear what the attorneys and their client were talking about.  She said she had figured that and so she refrained from discussing anything with the client at police headquarters..  She had passed this on to Yvette too.

"Sit tight buddy...We are going to get you out of here.."said Nelson.

We filed out...and headed to Sam Mother's Diner.

When we entered we saw Bruce Greene, still sitting by himself at the end of the counter..

SAM MOTHER'S DINER-

As good a place as ever for some comfort food..It always had been...We ordered some Eggs and some Grits, Some Hash Browns and Breakfast sausages..

 

"Nothing Like Sam Mother's Diner for good comfort food."said Olivia.

 

"Yes, it always has been.." I said.

"Auntay...I just called the courthouse...We have an 8:00 pm hearing tomorrow night...Night Court."said Beverly.

"Excellent...Now we have the rest of the day to find charactor witnesses...as many as you can find.." said Olivia.

"I'll help Josie and Bree out Liv, I know where to look and who to ask." said Nelson.

"We'll get on it as soon as we leave here and get back...I'll grab my car." said Josie.

"We'll be more than ready by tomorrow night."said Bresha.

I was more concerned about the murder victim....Just who was he?

 Later on that afternoon... I returned to our Office/Duplex-

"Tall Dark and Southern, Sit down, take a load off." said Alfreda.

She poured me some Ice tea...

"Well Husband, what have you found out?" asked Olivia.

"Some interesting things...On October 30,2024, Amiee Stewart withdrew $5000.00 from her bank account..  The next day, Ricky White deposited $5000.00 in his account...Also on that same day,

Colin Pollard withdrew $5000.00 from his account and just hours later...Ricky White deposited $5000.00 into his account...

On November 15th 2024...Amiee Stewart withdrew $5000.00 from her bank account..  The next day, Ricky White deposited $5000.00 in his account...Also on that same day,

Colin Pollard withdrew $5000.00 from his account and just hours later...Ricky White deposited $5000.00 into his account...

On December 13th 2024, Amiee Stewart withdrew $5000.00 from her bank account..  The next day, Ricky White deposited $5000.00 in his account...Also on that same day,

Colin Pollard withdrew $5000.00 from his account and just hours later...Ricky White deposited $5000.00 into his account...

On January 24th 2025...like clockwork,  Amiee Stewart withdrew $5000.00 from her bank account..  The next day, Ricky White deposited $5000.00 in his account...Also on that same day,

Colin Pollard withdrew $5000.00 from his account and just hours later...Ricky White deposited $5000.00 into his account..." I said.

"That's a net gain of $40,000.00 for Mr. White...."said Olivia.

"He was Blackmailing both of them...about the affair....But look at this..May 2025,

Colin Pollard withdrew $5000.00 from his account and Ricky White deposited another $5000.00

in his account...

But in June all payments stopped..  There were a number of phone calls from him to Colin Pollard and to Aimee Stewart....I'm guessing he had bled both of them dry and there was some push back...

In October of this year....Colin Pollard won a multi- million dollar litigation for his law firm, Climber ,Horowitz and Stewart. He got a large percentage of the winnings. Enough that he replaced the money he had embezzled and he paid off all of his gambling debts....You would have thought that he was free and clear.." I said.

"But he wasn't....There was still the photos of him and Mrs. Stewart right?" said Olivia.

"That's right and this time he put the squeeze on him...$100.000.00.  He was going to leave the country or so he said....The truth was he had been fired by Chessly Stevens just a day before his final meeting with Colin Pollard.

"Chessly Stevens must have found out his wife was being blackmailed and by who...So he fired Ricky White and he fired Colin Pollard just a few days ago....And somebody....I don't know who put 5 bullets into Ricky White.."said Olivia.

"If it wasn't Colin then who?   Chessly?  Mrs. Aimee Stewart?? A Hit man hired by one of them??"I asked.

"Who Knows...We just know Colin didn't kill anybody."said Olivia.

The Rest of the group walked in....

''We're ready for tomorrow night Auntay!"said Beverly...

'' We've got 25 Charactor Witnesses for tomorrow night.."said Nelson..

"More than enough..."said Josie.

"Colin is an officer of the court , and has no prior criminal record...He's a cinch to get off."said Bresha.

"You guys really sound like lawyers..."laughed Olivia... "Go on home...I'll see you all tomorrow." said Olivia, laughing, proud of her niece and her young associates.

And on a Bridge in University City..

Bruce Greene stood alone...

It was in session from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays...We were quite fortunate to get a date. It was 8:00 pm Thursday Night , We were the first case on the Docket...

Colin Pollard not only knew the Judge in court tonight...He had once clerked for him after passing the bar and being in Philly for awhile before he went back to New York City to work.

For his part, Lt. Tragg  had no idea Colin Pollard  was being arraigned tonight...He expected him to be arraigned tomorrow or the day after in open court.

He was at this moment in bed with Judge Kelly Ann Mercer..

At her loft.  They were making sweet love- He was glad to be off duty tonight.

What The Judge loved about Olivia is that she nor her staff of attorneys treated the court lightly...They gave the same spirited arguments here that they would have given in regular court and came with "receipts" as people said.   Olivia gave an articulate argument that her client was being black mailed by the dead man, who was also simultaneously blackmailing another person..but despite all of that he had not killed anyone.

She argued that her client had no prior police record, posssesed a law degree from St. Johns University ,was an officer of the court and was no threat to the community and had ties to the community. He had until recently been a Senior Associate Attorney at the firm, Climber ,Horowitz and Stewart.

 

The entire time she spoke, I sat next to her, rubbing her legs...rubbing her back and devilishly slipping my hands partially up her skirt..

"GUYS!!!! YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST!" said a very happy Colin..."Listen...I know you guys

"Liv and her people should be here soon." said Karen.

"I'm pretty sure they got their client released on his own recognizance."said B.L.

"Oh Yeah, I love Night Court.."said Natalie.

"I love it too!" said David.

"Pretty soon Lt. Tragg and others are going to get hip to it."said Brooke.

''Well use it and enjoy it as much as you can., While you can."said Sean.

"Ouuuuuuuuuu these drinks are so cold and so delicious."said Zoey.

"No Club Soda or Water tonight huh?"laughed her husband, Lem.

"Sure...I'm going to pace myself."said Zoey.

"I'm with you Zoey...I get too loaded and my husband takes advantage of me.."joked Renee.

"Oh I do not.."protested Tyrell,laughing..

"I think you do...I know Matthew takes advantage of me..."laughed Lee.

"I sure do."laughed Matthew...

"You should plead the fifth."laughed Nina..

"Spoken like a true lawyer."laughed Carlos.

"Oh I can't wait for Olivia and Beverly and her gang to get here with my baby."said Ginger. 

 "I can't wait either...Then she'll take her annoying presence elsewhere."said Yvette.

Her husband, Gary cracked up laughing..

"Here they come now..."said Keith Jones.

"Yayyyyy..They had the second Bus." said Bee Bee,

"This could be a nice mellow night. Lt. Tragg isn't here."said Sofia.

"Even when he is here, he never bothers us..." said Kahlil.

"Yeah, Bruce Greene is the one you don't want here." said Jade.

"Yeah....He wasn't at work today....and when I have seen him he's been a shadow of his normal self."said Danny Ho.

"Does that mean a little less annoying than usual.?" said Virginia.

Jetty laughed loudly...

"Baby, you're free..I knew they'd get you off." said Ginger..

"Well not off, but out of jail for the time being." said Colin. 

"Hi Everybody."said Olivia.

 

"I need some cold ones..."I said.

"Me too, a couple of cold ones..." said Beverly.

Nelson ran his hands up her skirt and squeezed her butt,.

Beverly didn't remove his hands, she smiled at him..

Josie smiled at her husband, Paris as he passed her a drink....

He kissed her on the cheek....

Bresha and Tony were going for it, kissing each other passionately...

"Lawd Have Mercy....I hope that boy Bruce Greene doesn't show up tonight...He'll blow a gasket."said Alfreda.

"Yeah, I know." said Rockland..
