THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY BRYCE BARNES- TUESDAY MORNING!

Bryce Barnes looked at the dossiers on his desk as he drank his coffee..   These were the attorneys who would ironically enough be in court tomorrow...He was familliar with all of them and knew they were in the employ of his nemesis, Tanya Mosely , just as they had been before.

Tanya had had them sequestered at a secret location preparing for two trials...His investigators hadn't been able to locate them and without his mole inside of her organization...He had no information at all on their strategy in either trial.

The first ones, Olivia Bennett-Alexander , her niece Beverly West and their team would be representing the young woman.

a staff attorney for States Attorney Tanya Mosley...who had been raped by her Chief of Staff, 

The foolish and randy, Jerry Rumsfeld, who unknown to any of them was his operative, feeding him damaging information on States Attorney Mosley for close to a year...This trouble he found himself in was unfortunate, but managable.. Already a plan was in the works to buy him some time.

The second group of attorneys, Yvette Jones-Lockwood and her team..he was more worried about...They were ready to go to court immediately...They were equally formidable.. He had to get himself an attorney, a cut-throat, a killer to face them...

Attorney Wallace Payton came to mind..He was as cut-throat as they come...He rarely if ever lost a case, and he was ruthless....take no prisoners type of attorney....That was who he needed representing him against Yvette and Company. He gave him a call and solicited his services.

Meanwhile we were at The Bridge Building in Yvette's suite, having one last meeting with Tanya Mosely, Alvin Davis and our client, Linda Gorman.

Virginia treated us all to a continental breakfast...

on this rare day , Alfreda was with us...our catering company had supplied the food and coffee.

Like Virginia...She assisted with the set up....

How far we had come.....When I came to Philly, Olivia had one other attorney, Beverly....she hired Nelson as a consultant from time to time, but he was employed by another law firm....Now he was with us and Josie was with us and we had Bree....Not only that...Olivia 's law firm acquired a catering company and a Bus service...We had more than most firms....

"Folks, after a painstaking investigation...Jade and I determined that the cause for all of your problems is you had a leak...a Mole in your organization....Now Olivia and Yvette have looked at discovery in both cases and the opposition has a lot of information about the financial dealings of your office Ms. Mosely...Information only you and a few people should have...They have twisted a lot of facts and figures around and plan to use it against you...You no doubt have explanations and a defense for all of these charges which I agree are baseless...but the thing is...How did Royce Barnes get all of this information?" I said.

''A Private investigator couldn't have gotten this information without inside help...We traced several faxes and several emails from laptops in your office going to Royce Barnes office and we looked at the cell phone records of your entire staff and we found calls on  Jerry Rumsfeld, your chief of staff's  business phone to Royce Barnes. Jerry Rumsfeld is your mole...It had to be him...He was the only one privy to such knowledge... Royce Barnes fished him into your organization about a year ago....right when these charges began...If he couldn't find something...he made it up." said Jade.

"It all makes sense, perfectly good sense...The press knew you guys were involved before I announced it..because we had discussed it at our last meeting.. They knew your home addresses and everything...your phone numbers..Which is why I had you go radio silent...Turning your phones off and disabling the GPS on them and moved you out to that undisclosed site in South Jersey...He didn't know about this building or this office...I had fired him before I disclosed that....And that's when all of the information that was leaking from my office like a siv stopped getting out." said Tanya, disgusted.

"He came highly reccomended to us....I'll have to do better vetting next time." she said.

"That slime ball, I never liked him." said her personal attorney and dear friend, Alvin Davis.

"Well we have good arguments to counteract all of the slime and mud he'll want to throw...My guys are ready." said Yvette.
 

"He's too smart to represent himself..." said Keith Jones.

"That's right...He'd be hiring a top notch attorney to represent him.."said Bee Bee.

''What they call, A Killer." said Sofia..

"We've all chopped down our number of killers."said Kahlil. 

''Don't be surprised if he pulls out an old relic likeWallace Payton." said Jade, not realizing how correct she was.

"Jerry is using Daniel Slade, another real snake , who I unfortunately dated at one time." said Linda Gorman.

"He tried to date me too! Asked me out several times , before I met you dear.." said Olivia.

 

I smiled wryly....

"We tangled with Wallace Payton once..We beat him."said Beverly...

"Yeah we did!! Thumped him good...In a Bench trial at that!" said Nelson.

"Well at any rate , we aren't afraid of any attorneys they throw at us...They'd better be leery of us." said Josie.

"Yeah, I can't wait." said Bresha, who was probably entering law school the last time we tangled with Wallace Payton.

Tony , her husband, smiled and shook his head...Mannn this is gettin deep." was all he would say...

Paris was in Law school today...He was missing all of this.

II-

THREE WEEKS BEFORE- 

Young Nicky Hilton, an up and coming Stock Broker was having his third drink at the new bar....

"Oh My Godddd She's gorgeous.....Bet'cha I can get her phone number?" said his co-worker , Harry....Harry was a Temp, who was hoping for a permanent position after his two week stint was through...The two had become quite chummy. Hanging out at bars after work.

A Gorgeous Blonde was sitting by herself...sipping a Citris Martini..

"You're crazy!" said Harry....

They spent the rest of the night ,kissing passionately at the bar...before she left....

"You are the mannnnnnnnnnnnnn Nicky..."laughed Harry..

"Look, she gave me her address and a time to hook up...Next Wednesday....I'm going to tell my wife, I have to leave town on business and she and I are going to hook up...Her name is Emily Maries..."laughed an ecstatic Nicky....

"When I grow up ,I wanna be like you.."laughed Harry....

"Hey listen...I gotta go...I gotta be home...I'll talk to you later Harry.."said Nicky, leaving...

After he was gone , another white man walked up to Harry....

"He go for it?" asked the white man, who was red faced and looked like he had been drinking..

''Hook Line and Sinker...It was too easy.. Your girl was a little too easy....She didn't offer any resistance.." said Harry.

''She wasn't supposed to...That was the whole idea...She had his nose so wide open, he didn't even question it...Good work." said the man. He passed Harry an envelope which had the eqvivalent of three month's pay he'd get at the Stock Exchange....He got up and left...

ONE WEEK LATER-

"NICKY...THE DOOR IS OPEN....COME IN! " she said...

He walked in...She was sitting on the bed in a pink babydoll with white lace...His eyes bulged out of it's sockets...

"Good..We all can get up early and make it here.and then we can come here for lunch."said Nelson.

"That gives us a chance to miss Lt. Tragg completely..."said Josie.

Paris had arrived from school with the car and was eating dinner with us... They'd be the only couple that wouldn't be riding on the train tonight...

" We are ready...I'm glad Ms. Yvette let Nelson and me use her facilities to get a good read on the jury..." said Bresha.

"That gives you guys an edge." said Tony..

"It gives them a big edge." said Alfreda proudly.

"I'm excited for you guys...If I didn't have a litigation...I'd be down there watching."said Jazzy.
 

''Same Here."said her husband Dabnis.

''Well at any rate. I wish both teams good luck!"said Kayla.

"Yeah me too!" said Ray...

"You guys know if either of you need any extra help, my husband and I are always available."said Jessica.

"Yeah, for real...We not only love you guys but we love States Attorney, Tanya Mosley too!" said her husband, Chip.

"Yes...I voted for her." said Karen Page.

"So Did I." said Natalie.

"Me too!" said David.

"Yes, so did I." said Brooke.

"Look who she was running against. We didn't have a choice...but I know Tanya...She's good people, Alvin Davis too!" said Sean.

''Agreed.. Royce Barnes,is a bastard, He's ruthless and he's a liar...I've faced him in court two times in the past." said Zoey....So Happy to be working in this building and enjoying a meal with all of us.

"I know Tanya...I think the past two years , she has done an incredible job as States Attorney..I think Royce Barnes is a small and petty man and I hope this trial exposes him.."said Lem.

"That poor girl, being sexually assaulted in the ladies room by her Chief of Staff, what dog.."said Renee.

"But think...If he hadn't of done that and gotten himself fired, information would still be flowing out of his office and in Royce Barnes's office.... He is ruthless...Wowwww!" said Tyrell.

"Guys, I found out from my contact at the courthouse that we will be facing Wallace Payton...We've faced him before..." said Yvette..
 

"Yeah... and like Olivia and crew, we've beaten him before,,, I'm not worried about him." said Keith Jones..

His wife, Bee Bee rubbed his hands softly and said softly..."Neither am I."

"I'm just anxious to get the whole thing started...as is Tanya." said Sofia.

"Yeah me too! I can't wait to get in court." said Kahlil.

"I've turned over every stone...You guys have all you need to win this thing." said Jade.

Virginia leaned her head on her husband's shoulders " I want to sit and soak in a nice warm bath when we get home." said Virginia.

"I'll run it for you." whispered Jetty.

We all rode home on the train, except for Paris, Josie and Alfreda, who rode home in his car.

It had been a productive day.

III-

Olivia and I were turning in  after a  successful day of meetings  and last minute preparation and of good food, fellowship with our friends and neighbors in the Bridge Building , whose dining facility is akin to a five star buffet. It was a good day!

Olivia sat on the bed, watching me and smiling...

Here's what we want...You're going to be put on the jury of a very important case...You are either to convince that jury to vote not guilty or to hang it by insisting on a not guilty verdict, thus insuring a mis-trial......Got it? came the voice..

'Why? Why? That's dishonest?  That's a crime!" said Nicky...

"So is adultery...If you don't want your wife to see those nasty photos of you and "Emily" doing the Hibbity Bibbity...You'll bend and twist whatever way we tell you to...Got it ?" came the voice...

"Yeah....I got it!" said  Nicholas, shaking something terrible.

WEDNESDAY MORNING, a week later-

Bresha arrived with coffees...

''I thought we all could use these while we wait for the judge." said Bresha.

"Thank you Bree." said Linda.

"Yes Thank You Bree." said Olivia.

"Love you Bree." said Beverly taking her cup and passing Nelson his cup.

"Thanks Bree." said Nelson..

I took my cup and passed one to Josie.

"Thanks Bree." I said.
