He would be prosecuting the second degree murder trial of Serena Stevens

an attractive school teacher and former principal he attempted to date once...

He was licking his lips at the prospect of all of these sexy women in the courtroom at the same time.

"Lt. Tragg, I need you to get on top of this....Yvette's investigator has interviewed the husband and slapped him with a subpoena....She's made her own plaster cast of a second set of tires at the scene that wasn't even mentioned in your report and she's talked to a half a dozen witnesses, even some of our own.. She appears to be ahead of you on this investigation."said Bruce Greene.

"She's not ahead of me...I'm all over it." protested Lt. Tragg. Nothing was further from the truth....He made a mental note to talk to her husband, Lt. Danny Ho..

about what he was hearing about the investigation and what he was telling her in bed at night.

Truth be told...He and his wife, Jade did not talk shop in bed at night.....Their minds were as far away from police work as possible.

And far away from the Assistant District Attorney's Office at the Bridge Building in our conference room-

"Serena, this is Renee Cantrell-Jones....You've seen each other in the cafeteria and at the No I.D. Bar and this past weekend in Bayside....She is going to be assisting us on the case..."said Yvette,

"Yes, we've met.."said Renee.

"Yes, we've met...Glad to make your acquaintence..." said Serena , who had come to our office today to pick up her mail..

Once a week, Kahlil or myself stopped by her apartment and picked up her mail, then masde sure we weren't followed and high tailed it back to our building..Usually without incidence.

"Ran into a little snag today.....Lt. Tragg and his men had your place staked out.. They stopped me when I picked up your mail...He demanded to know where you were....I said that I didn't know...that I just picked up your mail and a third party got it from me and gave it to you, Which is almost the truth...Of course he called me a liar....  Your estranged husband was there too, siting in a car across the street, watching the whole thing.  The Uber driver took me to our main building..I went in and I was sure I gave both the slip...I got on the train and headed here." said Kahlil.

"You sure you gave them the slip Kahlil?"asked Ms. Yvette.

"Ms. Yvette, before I was an Attorney, long before... I sold weed in High school...I made a career out of ducking cops...as well as rival dealers."said Kahlil.

"Bee and I can attest to that...We used to buy from him...9th Grade to 11th grade." said Sofia.

Serena found this story amusing..

"What happened in 11th grade?" she asked.

"He got arrested and sent to Youth Study Center for a year." said Bee Bee.

"I did six months and was released....Somehow, some miracle...My Pops got me back in Central...I got my act together...Quit the uh pharmecutical business, made the Honor Roll and decided to spend my life being an attorney, helping people get out of going to jail unneccesarily." said Kahlil..

"And they've all been solid citizens ever since." I said.   "I met them in Law School." I added.

"I knew I liked you guys....you've got edge....You remind me of some of my former students.."laughed Serena.

"I have no such edge....I was just a sweet little girl who went to Catholic School who bloomed late."joked Ms. Yvette.

"Okay, sweet little Catholic girl, right...You got edge...You just hide it."laughed Serena, who really liked all of us.

"That Lt. Tragg is everywhere except where he is supposed to be...He ran into me in the main building today...I was handing some information to Miles....I did a small investigative job for him...He badgered me about where Serena was staying...I told him that I didn't have to tell him that..That she was free on bail and as long as she showed up at trial that was all I was concerned about.....He threatened to pull my license again...but I just walked away....I slipped his tail that he had on me."said Jade.

"You know ,I could file a compliant about him harrassing my staff members...A complaint that could send him back to the Marine Boat." said Yvette.

"You should....Tell him to do some real police work and stop harrassing people."said Virginia.

II-

In an office downtown....

. before an independent arbitrator,Attorney Elizabeth Jenkins..

Serena Stevens stood with her Attorney Miles Ellis..

as they worked out her divorce from Calvin Stevens....

He stood stoically with his lawyer,

Arthur Trout.....

"There is no monies or properties in dispute...Mrs. Stevens is already living seperately....So with that, your no fault divorce is approved...You two are officially divorced.!" said the Arbitrator.

"Thank you Mr. Trout....FOR NOTHING!" said an angry Calvin Stevens..

"What did you expect? You gave me nothing to work with...You had a history of domestic abuse....Not just with her, but two former girlfriends that was well documented....and a number of restraining orders against you by your now ex-wife and two ex-girlfriends...No property to dispute...No children  thank god...I mean what did you expect???.....Just be glad you don't have to pay her any alimony....All she wanted was to be done with you and I can see why....Straighten out your life Mr. Stevens." said Arthur Trout as he exited the courtroom...

"I know you want to kiss me Miles, but not here...Not now...Later."said Serena...

"Alright, but it'll be hard for me to contain myself."said a jubilant Miles.

"You're always Hard Mister....and I for one am glad of it." she whispered and giggled a little.

His happiness was soon stunted...

Assistant District Attorney Bruce Greene walked in accompanied by D.A. Investigator, Ingrid Stevenson..

"Mr. Ellis...Mr. Ellis...It has been a few years since I've seen you...I heard you were out in San-Francisco....I see you're back in the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection...Heh heh heh...

And Hello Mrs. Stevens.....No, I suppose you're Ms. Banes again right?" said Bruce Greene, who once tried to date her.

"We have something for you counselor..."said Ingrid.

"This is a subpoena."said Ingrid.

"I know what it is..."snarled an angry Miles Ellis.

"You will be a witness for the Prosecution against your now former client in her Second Degree Murder trial soon...Heh heh heh...See you in court counselor...Oh and very nice seeing you again Ms. Banes.Heh heh heh."laughed Bruce Greene.

THE BRIDGE BUILDING- AN HOUR LATER-

We were all in our conference room...

"I could have rung his skinny little neck....He seemed to get glee from serving me a subpeona." snarled an angry Miles. "He's a childish, petty little man." he continued...

"Miles I told you it's nothing personal....He doesn't know you and I are seeing each other.. He did it more to get back at me.. because I refused to see him again. It was years ago...He asked me out several times...and several times I told him no.. He just didn't appeal to me. Finally, I went out with him...He took me to a nice restaurant and we had a great meal....That was the best thing about the night..He talked about himself constantly...Wouldn't let me get a word in ,kept his grubby little hands up my skirt...rubbing my legs and pulling at the waistband of my panties..until I threatened to slap his face. .and then the worst part...He insisted I pay the drink tab....I refused and got up and walked out.   He called me for three weeks trying to get a second date...but there was none...Next time he saw me...I was married and his overtures got me a black eye...from my husband, who thought I was coming on to him and for me keeping my husband from pummeling Bruce." said Serena. 

 "Oh My Godd! Your ex-husband was a brute." said Yvette.

"I have history with Bruce Greene too and it was the same thing..He begged me and begged me to go out with him and I did....Foolish me... Finally, I went out with him...He took me to a nice restaurant and we had a great meal....That was the best thing about the night..He talked about himself constantly...Wouldn't let me get a word in ,kept his grubby little hands up my skirt...rubbing my legs and pulling at the waistband of my panties..until I threatened to slap his face. .and then the worst part...He insisted I pay the drink tab....I did pay it...and I paid it the next and final time we went out...That was it..

He faced my present husband in court and lost to him...We were engaged then...and he pulled a childish stunt to ruin our engagement...but he failed...  He hates my husband with a passion...My husband was a Court Bailiff once , who put himself through law school...He finished and passed the bar and as a first year attorney beat the great Bruce Greene in court...He's never gotten over that...or the fact that I'm married to him. I could go on, but you get the drift." said Renee.

"Yes I get it...Bruce Greene is a vain ,petty little man who is going to take pleasure out of sending me to prison...Revenge for me jilting him....and since you're on the defense team...He's going to take pleasure in beating you in court." said Serena Banes.

I cracked up laughing... "Somebody needs to school Bruce, tell him to update his technique."I said.

"Then he'll ask the girl to pay for the meal and he'll pay the drink tab."said Bee Bee snarkily.

Sofia cracked up laughing......

So did Kahlil.

"We aren't going to give Bruce Greene the pleasure of beating us..."said Yvette.

"Especially since I've dug up new evidence about the case that can only help us." said Jade.

"Refreshments anyone?" asked Virginia.

She had a pitcher of Ice Tea...

and another pitcher of Guava Punch...

"Thanks, you know how to take the edge off Virginia." said Miles , who was finally starting to cool off.

That night at Ms. Yvette's house..

Ms. Yvette's husband, Gary poured her a cup of tea....The Organic Orange tea she liked before bed...

"Sooo trial starts soon eh, You ready ?" he asked..,

''Yup..We are ready...I'm just wondering what Bruce Greene has in store for us."said Yvette, sipping her tea.

"He's a lightweight....Thinks he's hot stuff...you've handled tougher ones than him." laughed Gary.

"I love your confidence in me....It turns me on..." said Yvette, smiling seductively...

"Well I'm glad of that...Real glad of that." whispered Gary...
