"I know the lead Attorney , Yvette Jones....She's my Soror...and I lived three doors down from her and Olivia Bennett,now Bennett-Alexander,,,,also my soror...I was a year ahead of  the two of them and a white girl they used to hang around with named Karen Page....I haven't seen Yvette in years, but I see she's made partner...and she has four very good attorneys working for her ....."said Mandy...

"Oh and Bruce thanks for breakfast." she said smiling.

"Yes thank you for breakfast." said Assistant District Attorney Melvin Ortiz...

They were having Bagels and Cream Cheese supplied by Bruce Greene. They were actually for him and BrandyAddison...but Melvin Ortiz was around and had horned in on the deal.

"Oh you're quite welcome Mandy..." he said with a smile.   Although she was eight years older than him, Bruce had a huge crush on her....

"I think we can work on this case together...I have an intimate knowledge of these attorneys." said Bruce.

"They've uh routinely cleaned your clock in court haven't they?" said Melvin Ortiz ,laughing.

"YOU DIDN'T FARE SO WELL IN YOUR LAST CASE EITHER!"snarled an angry and embarrassed 

Bruce Greene.

"Okay, Okay, Play nice guys...Play Nice...We are all on the same team here...At least Melvin and I are..

Bruce, Melvin will be my second chair on this case...but thank you...Any insights you can give us will be welcomed." said Mandy....

''What about this other Attorney, Jason Smith? I understand, he was her divorce lawyer and he had drawn up papers of seperation for her, seven months before."asked Melvin Ortiz.

"You're so smart, you tell us!" snarled Bruce Greene.

"Now...Now...There is no reason for that....We don't have to worry about Jason Smith... He works for McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt, but he has nothing to do with this case...He's not trying it.  Yvette and her four attorneys will be working the case... He's a Senior Associate there and since her husband is deceased... He is no longer involved one way or another. She's no longer his client...So let's take him out of the equation." said Mandy.

"Okay, we'll concentrate on these four or rather five attorneys and this case... 

I'm calling in Ingrid Stevens , as our investigator. I don't trust Lt. Tragg's investigation...I've looked at the Autopsy report and the Crime Scene Reports.... That seems incomplete."said Melvin Ortiz.

"I have a rappor with the Lieutenant.....I could possibly get a more insightful update to his current investigation." said Bruce Greene.

"As I recall...Two cases ago you two came to blows and he wasn't present at your last trial...I think you'd better let me tend to the investigation."said Melvin Ortiz.

"You know...You are beginning to grate on my nerves..."snarled Bruce Greene.

"Okay, Okay enough....Bruce thank you for breakfast....I think Melvin and I can handle things from here....Thank you."said Mandy Addison.

"WELL!" said Bruce , who turned on a dime and angrilly marched out of her office...but not before he took the remaining bagels left and cream cheese and walked out of the office.

"I don't think he likes me."laughed Melvin Ortiz..

"You think?" said Mandy, laughing.

OUR CONFERENCE ROOM-

"Okay where are we on the case?" said Yvette as she addressed us..

"Thanks to the marvels of science.. The GPS on Ellie's Cellphone and Smartwatch we know exactly where she was during the time scan of the murder." said Jade.

"Okay the Crime Scene report says the bodies were found around 10:15 AM at the Marriot in Center City.." I said.

"The Autopsy gives the exact time of death as anywhere between two to three hours....Meaning they were shot around 8:30, maybe a little before..."said Kahlil.

''A witness to the shootings...said she heard screaming and multiple gunshots around 8:25-8:27."said Sofia.

"That puts the killings close to 8:30, they are discovered around 10: 15 AM...

"If you recall we were downtown at our Litigation around that time-

A Center City Office Building, 9:59 AM

''Well that wraps this up...Thank you all for coming..Another successful litigation folks. Thank you again."said Jay Stanton, our client. 

 "Oh you're welcome sir...Glad we could be of service."said Ms. Yvette. "Okay guys...got any ideas of where we can go for breakfast?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"Yeah,let's go to that coffee shop with the Jenga Blocks on the table." I said.

"Yeah, it's not too far from here..."said Bee Bee.

"They make great coffee and I'm anxious to try my hand at Jenga."said Sofia.

"You are? I'll play you." said Bee Bee.

"That ought to be fun."laughed Kahlil.

"Stop imagining us playing in our bra and panties." said Sofia to Kahlil.

I laughed...I had been fantasizing the exact same thing...

"You four are too much.....I think that coffee shop is a good idea Ms. Yvette.

"Okay, good , it's only a few blocks from here...Let's go folks." said Ms. Yvette.

CENTER CITY COFFEE SHOP- 10:00 AM-

We had just won a major litigation today downtown...and we were relaxing in a nearby coffee shop.. One Jazzy and Kayla had told us about...
 

They had Jenga blocks on the tables and Kahlil and I were involved in a spirited game while we waited on our coffees..

"Don't count on that...I've been playin this game for years...Goes back to when I was at Howard,,,There..take that." I said.

"Olivia, Karen and I used to play Jenga..I think Liv has a set at her house."laughed Yvette...She looked around...

She really liked this place...

"Hey Guys...Here comes our food." said Yvette..

Bagels with Cream Cheese and Jelly arrived...

and six cups of coffee...

A woman walked over to Yvette...

''Well Hello Ms. Yvette, how are you? It's been awhile" she said.

"Oh My God, Ellie...How are you?" said Yvette hugging her.....

"I made partner and I have my own suite on the 5th floor at the Bridge Building down by Penns Landing...These are my colleagues...

''Senior Associate Kahlil Ahmed.-"said Yvette.

"Hello" said Kahlil...

"His wife, Senior Associate Sofia Garcia -Ahmed."said Yvette.

"Hola!" said Sofia.

"Senior Associate, Keith Jones, No relation, tee" said Yvette.

"Hello!" I said.

"And his wife, Beatrice Evans-Jones."said Yvette.

"Hello" said Beatrice.

"And my investigator, Jade Lee."

"Hello." said Jade.

''Ellie Mays is an old client of mine...I represented her a few years ago. Civil Case." said Yvette.

"Yes, you were an Associate Attorney at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt...The only attorney whose billable hours I could afford at the time."laughed Ellie.  "How far we both have come... I'm the Manager of this joint and you are a partner, got your own staff, your own suite and you got married in the meanwhile....To Gary?   he was your boyfriend at the time..."laughed Ellie.

"Yes to Gary...We bought a house too...Let me give you my address." said Yvette..  "You got married also." said Yvette.

"Yes to Broderick Mays, the investment banker...only we're separated...We've been separated for seven months now..." said Ellie.

"Oh I'm so sorry...Any chance of a reconciliation?" asked Yvette.

"No I doubt it!   He stepped out on me...One time too many... That woman he is with can have him...I need a good divorce lawyer, is what I need." said Ellie.

"I know one in particular....I can give you her name and phone number.." said Yvette.

"That would be nice....Here, have another round of coffees on me...On the house.." she said.

As we received a second round of hot steaming cups of coffee...

"Ouuuuu thank you." said Bee Bee.

"Yes, thank you."said Kahlil.

"Thank you!"said Sofia.

"Thank you, this is good coffee." I said.

"Yes, thank you." said Jade.

"You've won over me and my kids.."laughed Yvette.

"Goood!"laughed Ellie Mays.

"Okay...We arrived there about 10:12-10:13 am that morning and we saw Ellie about 10:20 AM right?

Around the time the bodies were being discovered." said Yvette.

Her Smartwatch puts her miles away at 7:35 AM...

"At a Duplex in Point Breeze..."said Jade.

"OUUUUU Ellie Girl spent the night with somebody!" said Kahlil.

"That's Jason Smith's place!" said Yvette.

"That's right....When We worked that case with him...We stopped by his spot for drinks, remember Bee?" said Sofia.

"That's right...I remember... Talk about Unethical...He's been seeing his client sexually....before she was even divorced." said Bee Bee.

"It may be a bit unethical...but not enough to cause him anymore than a reprimand, if that...He looks like her alibi."said Ms. Yvette.

"Her Debit card shows that she stopped at this Gas Station and filled up at 8:00 AM, again , way too far from the scene of the crimes." said Jade.

And she stopped at this Diner around 8:15 Am and paid for her meal of Scrambled Eggs and Cheese, Bacon, Hash browns, Orange Juice, Toast and Grape Jelly and Coffee  at 8:30, right around the time of the murders." said Jade.

''So she couldn't have been at the Marriot, which is halfway across town from where she was and whoever that witness saw running....was somebody altogether different." I said.

"Ladies, Gentlemen...We have established an alibi." said Ms. Yvette.

"I'm going to that Gas Station and see if I can round up any witnesses who remember her being there and hopefuly that Diner has a camera....so I can get video of her eating there.."said Jade.

"This will go a long way to establishing an alibi."said Yvette. "Let's also talk to the woman he was cheating on his wife with , who is still alive." said Yvette.

Hours later-

"This woman lives far from the scene also..."said Yvette.

"I wonder about her whereabouts in the wee hours of that morning."said Jade.

They walked down the hallway to the apartment of Kim Belle.

"Yes, May I help you?" she said.

"Hi I'm Jade Lee-Ho, I'm an investigator for the attorneys defending Ellie Mays for the murders of her husband and his uh associate..This is the lead Attorney, Yvette Jones and we have a few questions we'd like to aske you."said Jade.

"Hello Ms. Belle." said Yvette.

"What is this Old Homes week??... I've got an Assistant District Attorney here and her investigator."said Kim Belle.

"Hello Yvette, it's been a long time!" said ADA Mandy Addison.

"Hello Yvette, Jade." said Ingrid Stevens.

" Mandy! WOWWWW! It has been a long time....How are you?" said Yvette.

"Not as good as you...Congratulations on making partner and getting married and becoming a homeowner....You were none of these things the last time I saw you....You've really come up....I've heard you have your own suite and your own staff now."said Mandy..

"It was at your wedding.... I was single, an Associate Attorney and I lived in an apartment building..I made Partner,I have a staff of four attorneys now...They are all now Senior Associates...I have my investigator here and I have an office manager.."said Yvette.

"Yes I heard, Virginia Shaw..... 

She was a great Attorney and was so flyyy....She was my shero for many years...I was so hurt when she got disbarred and went to prison... End of a great career I thought! She got paroled and you gave her a job...Nice move...."said Brandy...

"It's Virginia Shaw-Dukes now..She got married to Judge Jetty Dukes and she lives down the street from me..." said Yvette.

"Ouuu girlll, Do tell!!!! I have to get over to your office...After this case is over...."said Mandy...

"So how's married life?" asked Yvette.

''We're divorced..it's been about three years."said Mandy..

"Oh I'm sorry." said Yvette.

"Ladies, your reunion is touching....but Mrs. Jones-Lockwood, Mrs. Ho..I'll tell you what I just told the Assistant District Attorney and Ms. Stevens... I don't intend to answer any questions posed by either of you.... You can talk to my attorney." she said.

"You've lawyered up already? Interesting." said Ms. Yvette.

"I can come back with a Subpoena... You can talk to one of us now or in court." said Mandy...

''As I said, Speak to my attorney...H. Stanley Stanlison."she said,

"He doesn't miss a trick!" said Yvette.

"Goodbye Ladies."said Kim Belle.

We all were home...It was good to be home after the day we had just had...

After we all got home that night..We were all settled down with our significant others.. What better way to spend nice night  than to be making love.?
