Smorgasbord

 THE BRIDGE BUILDING- FRIDAY MORNING!

Our Client, Ellie Mays greeted us the next morning at Breakfast.

"Good Morning...I thought I'd meet you for Breakfast. I am Famished." she said. 

 ''Well get yourself something to eat. After breakfast we'll retreat to our office upstairs."said Yvette,

"Yeah come on."I said.

"Everything is piping hot and smells good." said Bee Bee.

"Nothing like a good breakfast to get you started off right."said Sofia with a smile.

"You guys sound like a commercial."said Kahlil.

Jade laughed heartedly while fixing her plate,.

"It's amazing how we party all night at Curleys and still make it to work on time."laughed Virginia.

"One because you don't have to cook...A Hot Breakfast is waiting for you and two, you enjoy having electricity and gas and running water in your homes."laughed Jetty. 

"You're right about that Jetty."laughed Jazzy.
 

"I can remember when it wasn't like this...When we had to decide if we were going to Sam Mother's Diner or straight to court or the office." said Dabnis.

"I remember those days too!  When I lived in the Condo district and had to look for a suitable diner."said Kayla.

"Or a Food Truck!"laughed Ray....

"Same here..We've got it good."said Jessica.

''Sure Do!"said Chip.

''We all were in Center City...We all rushed to early morning court appearences...And sometimes if we were juggling more than one case...We missed lunch too!"laughed Karen.

"Yeah, it's much more relaxed down here....Less stressful..."said Natalie.

"You're reunited with three of your high school and college girlfriends...And we are reunited with Jessica and Chip from the Public Defenders Office...and others...You couldn't ask for more." said David.

"I love it down here..."said Brooke.

"I love that you all are down here." said Sean.

"Me too!"said Zoey...

"Ditto that!"said Lem.

"Olivia says that we aren't going to Brunch tomorrow at NO I.D. We are going to head on out to the Bayside Shopping Center and the Annual Smorgasbord." said Renee.

"That'll be so nice... My mouth is watering."said Tyrell.

"So is mine." said Tony.

"Nobody is more excited than my wife."said Paris.

"And me..."laughed Lee.

"It'll be sooo nice." said Nina.

"I can't wait."said Carlos.

SOMETIME LATER IN OUR CONFERENCE ROOM-

"Ellie...I think you should check yourself into a hotel...The Holiday Inn, a few blocks from here would be perfect...It's nice and inexpensive...Check yourself in under your own name and park your car in the 

indoor lot.

"I have my laptop and my tablet and I can run my business virtually....That'll work." said Ellie.

"We'll need your Credit and Debit Card records. Don't worry, we can get those and we'll need you to surrender your Smartwatch and your Phone here....Turn the phone off and disable the GPS...."I said.

Bee Bee passed her a smartphone.

''Write this number down...Remember it...This is what they call a 'Burner Phone'  Any calls you make..you use this phone...Don't call our business phones or our personal phones...Just call this number." she said.

"This is a Portal....You can keep up with us and the progress we are making on your case from day to day with this and it keeps you from having to come out in the street." said Sofia.

"If I were you...I'd go to your home, Pack an overnite bag and make that hotel reservation...Lt. Tragg is probably finding out that you've been released and you don't want him in your face from now until court time."said Kahlil.

"You're right...I don't... WOW! YOU GUYS ARE THOROUGH!" said Ellie Mays.

"We try to cover all of our bases..."said Yvette ,smiling.

"Come on...I'll go with you to your house." said Jade.

II-

SATURDAY MORNING- 9:00 AM

We didn't go to the No I.D. Bar on Friday Night and we weren't there this morning for brunch...We were headed to Bayside..

Olivia ,Alfreda and Renee co-ordinated the entire trip and they made sure there was plenty of coffee for everybody boarding the buses... 

 "I figured these coffees would hold everybody until we get to Bayside."said Olivia.

''As usual, you figured right.." said Donnie Ray.

"The Ride to Bayside is much shorter than the ride they take on the train to work every morning."said Beverly with a smile.

"Yeah, but everyone is waking up and we didn't go out last night...This coffee will hit the spot."said Nelson who was downing his coffee.

"It's right on time."said Josie , who was sitting on her husband's lap...

"I feel good and rested...and hungry."said Paris.

"That's the idea." said Bresha, who like Josie was sitting on her husband's lap.

Tony was quietly sipping his coffee..

as was Alfreda 

And her husband, Rockland.

"You got your client out of jail Vettie?" said Nina.

 "Yes and safely tucked away in the Holiday Inn until trial.."said Yvette.

"Is her coffee shop going to be closed?" asked Gary.

"No...She has two assistant managers and she can run her business virtually..She's got a laptop and tablets."I said.

"And she's got a burner phone to contact us and a portal.."said Bee Bee.

"We covered all of our bases.." said Sofia.

"Yes ,I see." said Nina.

"By Now, Lt. Tragg has discovered that she's been released and is probably at her house looking to harrass her...Probably went by her business too!" said Kahlil.

"He did, yesterday,...At her business they told her she was probably at home...Other than that, they didn't know.,which they don't."said Jade.

"He pestered me about it yesterday....I told him I didn't know...That I made it my business not to delve into you guys cases, which for the most part is true. He didn't believe me."said Danny Ho.

"OH HE'S A PAIN IN THE KEISTER, FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD!" said Virginia.

Jetty laughed.

More coffees were passed out.. 

"UMMMMMMMMMMMM THIS TASTES SO GOOD!"said Jazzy sipping her coffee.
 

"YES, Good Coffee."said Dabnis.

"Cousin Olivia thinks of everything."said Kayla ,sipping her coffee.

"Yes she and you Bennett Women do."laughed Ray.

Jessica was sleping soundly in her husband's arms...

Chip was asleep himself.

Karen looked at them..

"They have the right idea." she silently mused.

"Yeah"agreed her husband,looking at them.

"I'm so excited, I can't wait." said Lee.

"I see...I'm hungry..." said Matthew.

"We all are..."said Natalie with a smile.

"Before we know it, we'll be there." said David.

"This is the first time we aren't leaving for Bayside from the NO I.D. Bar,"said Brooke.

"Yeah this ride will be shorter."said Sean.

"That's good...because my husband's stomach is growling,."laughed Zoey.

"Is not!"protested Lem...

"I thought I heard it...unless that was you Rell."said Renee.

"It coulda been..I'm famished."said Tyrell.

It was a beautiful day and Bayside was beautiful....The river that seperated the shopping center's one side from the other side was a beautiful ,clear aqua color.The Stores were just starting to open..

There was a Brunch Area in the Square for those who wanted it...

but the main attraction was all of the beautiful foods displayed otherwise-

We were all in Heaven... 

 "OH MY GOD! SO MUCH FOOD!" gushed Yvette.

"WELL, LET'S EAT FOLKS!" said Gary who was equally excited.

"OH MANNNN!" I exclaimed.

"We told you!" gushed my wife, Bee Bee.

"Come on Husband...Let's find a table and get some food."said Sofia.

"Lead the way!"said Kahlil.

"It's good we didn't have brunch at No I.D. Bar." said Jade.

"There's Brunch food here,,,"said Danny.

"Ouuuuuuuuu I love it!" said Virginia.

"Let's grab a seat and make some plates." said Jetty.

 

"Oh My God...it's bigger than I imagined." gushed Jazzy...
 

"It's so huge in here and so many people...I hope we can sit together."said Dabnis.

"I think we can if we move fast enough." said Kayla.

"This is fun."said Ray.

"It is...Big Fun." laughed Jessica.

"I can't believe this." said Chip.

"Believe it! When Josie first told me about this last week at Super Brunch, In was super excited." said Karen,

''She couldn't stop talking about it... She was determined to go whether we went as a group like today or if she had to go by herself." said B.L. chuckling.

"It just so happened that we all wanted to go..."said Natalie. "Me, Bev, Kayla, Jazzy, Renee, Brooke and our husbands." she said.

"That's a quorum...Turns out Olivia was excited about going to...."said David.

"And it was nothing to all jump on the buses and take off."said Brooke.

"Let's sit down here."said Sean.

"We're right behind you." said Zoey.

"Let's sit here." said Lem..

We weren't all together like we usually are at Brunch or Couples Night. but we could see each other.

"When we finish eating...We can begin shopping." said Renee.

"Okay, cool." said Tyrell.

 "OH MY GOD! SO MUCH FOOD!" gushed Lee Phillips.

"I KNOWWWW!" said Matthew...

"Come on guys...let's stake out a table and sit down."said Nina.

"Ummmmmm I love this." said Carlos.

 

 "Everything is so beautifully displayed." said Olivia.

"Yes it is." said Donnie Ray.

"This is so beautiful." said Beverly..

"Yes it is.... Thanks Josie."said Nelson.

"I knew everybody would be as excited about this as I."said Josie.

"This was a good call." said Paris.

"Sure Was." said Bresha.

"Let's take this table."said Tony...

''Way ahead of you."said Alfreda,.

Rockland smiled.

Olivia, Donnie Ray, Beverly, Nelson, Josie, Paris, Bresha, Tony, Alfreda and Rockland managed to find a long table which they shared with Ms. Yvette,Gary, Bee Bee and myself, Sofia ,Kahlil,Jade, Danny Virginia and Jetty all sat at this table....The only members of this group able to set together.

 It was a great Saturday afternoon.

IV-

Lt. Tragg found out Friday that Ellie Mays had been arraigned and released on her own recognizance..He was livid.

"HOW DOES SOMEONE INDICTED FOR DOUBLE MURDER...A SUPER CAPITAL CRIME GET RELEASED WITHOUT BOND?? HOW??" he screamed to the top of his lungs.

He went to our main building,looking for us naturally...

and of course we weren't there...

He then drove to Ellie's house... She wasn't home!   Jade and her had already been there ,packed her up and headed to the hotel. He had missed them by twenty minutes.

He drove down our block this morning...but there was no sign that nay of us was at home...Because we weren't..We were in Bayside at at Smorgasbord.

Where he himself had to go to a little later with his girlfriend and our favorite Judge, Kelly Anne Mercer..

"Isn't this nice Arthur?" she gushed.

"It's wonderful...and the food.!" he said.

It was here he saw Yvette, and all of us...

"Yvette...HOW DOES SOMEONE INDICTED FOR DOUBLE MURDER...A SUPER CAPITAL CRIME GET RELEASED WITHOUT BOND?? HOW?? HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?" he screamed to the top of his lungs.

"IT'S CALLED DUE PROCESS....AND IT'S CALLED DOING MY JOB LIEUTENANT!  THAT'S WHAT SHE'S PAYING ME FOR!!" said Yvette.

"IT'S SATURDAY ARTHUR AND SHE IS NOT AT WORK AND NEITHER ARE YOU!" said Kelly Anne.

"OHHHHH ALRIGHT.....BUT I DON'T LIKE THIS!" he snarled.

"Sorry!  Your Honor...Have a nice day." said Yvette to Kelly Anne.

"You too dear!" said Kelly Anne.

 

"Is that Lieutenant Tragg? Hassling Yvette?" observed Jazzy.
 

"He was...but Judge Kelly Anne shut him down real quick...Did you see that?" said Dabnis.

"I saw it..."giggled Kayla.

"She 's good for us, for our peace of mind." said Ray.

"Sure Is...What is h e doing out here?" asked Jessica.

"The Smorgasbord...Everybody is out here..."said Chip...

"I suppose this is the place to be."said Karen.

"We are here...I suppose it is." said B.L.

"Ignore him!" said Natalie.

"I always do!" said David..

Brooke smiled.

So did her husband, Sean..

"They're leaving...going the other way." said Zoey

"Good!" said Lem.

"Come on let's go shopping." said Renee.

"Yeah, come on." said Tyrell.

"Well it could have been Bruce Greene." said Lee.

"Don't bring him up...come one let's go." said Matthew.

"I'm full...I'm ready to go shopping."said Nina.

"Me too!" said Carlos.

 

 Yvette sighed...

"Everything Okay? I saw Lt. Tragg." said Gary.

"He was bitching about us getting Ellie May out of jail." said Yvette.

''I see Kelly Anne shut him down."I said.

"Yeah...She sure did!"said Bee Bee.

"I'm glad she did...Imagine if she hadn't been with him." said Sofia.

"Yeah ,Imagine that?" said Kahlil.

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU HE MAKES ME SO ANGRY!" said Jade.

''Come on, don't let him spoil our day...let's shop!"said her husband, Danny Ho.

"Yeah. forget about him."said Virginia.

"Come on let's go!."said Jetty.

The Afternoon went on.. 

"You okay Vettie?" asked Olivia.. "I saw you getting fussed out by Lt. Tragg." she said.

"Yeah girl, I'm fine."said Yvette.

 

"Don't worry about him...remember.He's still under that restraining order."said Donnie Ray.

"For now, Kelly Anne is our peace ticket." said Beverly.

"At least for now!"said Nelson.

''Come on let's shop, forget him." said Josie.

"Yeah!" said Paris.

"Come on husband."said Bresha, taking Tony by the hand.

"Let's go to some lingerie stores." said Tony...

"There'll be time for that.."laughed Bresha.

"Take him to the stores Bresha...Be glad he's shopping with you.."laughed Alfreda.

Rockland took her hand and walked with her.
