The Subtle Approach

DEA Agent Carol Redding and Lt. Eddie Cantrell stood in the middle of the bedroom in his home, kissing passionately, while he once again took her bra off and slipped her panties down and eventually off...They were both moaning....

He had awakened to an empty bed this morning...Carol was dressed and gone when he got up, He figured she was back on her case...

"Okay." he said...

The next day or rather afternoon, Sissy, Lt. Sissy Van Buren was waiting for Carol when she arrived at C.I.D. headquarters...

She wasn't laughing and joking as she usually would have been,so Carol knew it was serious....

"What's up Sis? Where are the guys?" asked Carol...Except for a few uniforms, the office was empty....of the people she knew... Of course there was other detectives around working in their cubicles.. And other FBI agents on the phone and working in their office.

''We had to cut Tornado Jones loose"said Sissy..

"What?" she said.

"He had a fancy lawyer come down here this morning...He swears that that is not him in that car in the photo...Sharon and the FBI guys are working on enhancing that photo and when they do...We are going to re-arrest him,I promise..." said Sissy...

"This is unbelievable..."said Carol...

"I know and I'm sorry."said Sissy...

"It's not your fault girl...I'm on to something way beyond the average scope...You guys were great, but this may be above all of our heads here."said Carol.

"Carlotta got a hunch and she and Jimmy and Sirena and Hop went back over the seven open homicides we have of known drug bosses here...'' said Sissy....

 "They hit their street sources...They went over their financials and they poured over video surveilience we had on Tornado Jones and look what we found!!....We found that in the last weeks of their lives...They all had either lunch or dinner with Tornado Jones and your murdered suspect Breland Bobbit!!!" said Sissy..

"Really?" said Carol.

"Yes and that's not all....This man,an Albert Collins was also with them...That's the guy you said owned the Pharmecutical Company where the drugs were purchased from that were found in the bodies of your D.C. drug bosses and the five in Baltimore right?" said Sissy.

"Yes , who was a recent suicide.. I'm so proud of them...Carlotta, Jimmy and Sirena were my babies...They were just starting out when you left with Angie and Duke and Tyriq moved on to robbery- homicide...I knew that one day they'd be sharp detectives and they are...I know you're proud of them" said Carol...

"I am... Everyday I just marvel at how really good the three of them are...And the new detective, Tony Hopkins, Sharon's husband? He was a fantastic uniform cop...Always sharp,always observant..Keith Wallace took a liking to him and told him to take the detective's exam... He is a gem...He has fit in nicely with the guys" said Sissy...

"And you got Duke and Rico to mentor all of them...I envy you Sis, you have the cream of the crop of detectives..."said Carol..

"Now what was a D.C. area Businessman and a Financial Analyst doing , meeting with a reputed Philadelphia Crime Kingpin??"asked Sissy getting back to the subject at hand.

"Yes, what?" asked Carol....

 "We asked that question too, Duke, Tyriq and Sharon went to D.C. and Baltimore and compared notes with Homicide and Narcotics detectives there and guess what?? Same connection..In the last weeks of their lives Breland Bobbit and Albert Collins visited these guys....They had lunch or dinner and in one case breakfast and all of these guys  were dead within thirty minutes of their meetings...We think Albert Collins was responsible for the deaths on orders from someone....We don't know who...and Breland Bobbit looted all of their accounts and leveraged them into a dummy account ,which was closed once you got on it and into a Political Action account, which also vanished after we got on to it...Whoever is behind this knows that they are being watched and someone is on to them." said Sissy.

"Breland Bobbit was my main suspect and with him and Collins dead, I'm dead in the water...The trail ends there....Unless I can get something on Tornado Jones. I hope you can enlarge that photo....What about the car?" asked Carol...

"It's not in his name...It's in the name of some anonymous person...probably a fake and we can't find it...I've got an APB and a Bolo out for the car....Sorry!"said Sissy.

"Oh nooo...You guys did great work...Out of the three cities, you guys did the best work.  Let me see those survielience photos"said Carol.

Sissy showed them to her...

"These are his known warehouses...but we always seem to be too late when a shipment has arrived and when we did get warrants on those places...By the time we got there...
They were empty...."said Sissy...

"He's smart....but not that smart."said Carol smiling.....

"You're uh staying with Ed?" asked Sissy...

"Yes.." she said.

"Well sit tight...We are still looking...We are building a case against Tornado Jones...I'll call you when we get something.."said Sissy..

"Thanks Girl."said Carol ,who hugged Sissy....."Tell the guys I said thanks for their help." she said as she left.

Carol was grateful for the work Sissy and her detectives and Sharon and her FBI agents had done...but she had been invested in this case and she couldn't wait for another warrant to be issued and a chance that Tornado Jones would either go to ground or wind up dead!

She parked three blocks away and then quietly slipped into the three now empty warehouses...She should have at least told Ed what she was doing...but he and Sissy were after all supervisors of detectives and they would have never of allowed their detectives to do what she was doing...Breaking and entering into private property without a warrant.. Neither Ed or Sissy would have allowed her to go it alone and they would have possibly have gotten in trouble if they had knowledge of what she was doing..This was also to protect them too , she reasoned...

She had her camera with her....Just in case she found drugs...She didn't!...All of the warehouses were bone dry...

Until she got to the last one!!!

Underneath a tarp!!   There it was!!!! The 2014 Black Lincoln that she saw Breland Bobbit get in...She took several photos of it...She photographed the license plates...They matched...This was indeed the car!!!....The passenger seat was drenched in fresh blood!!!...

Carol smiled.....

"I got him" she said out loud!...

Just then she heard a voice in the distance!!

"Think so?"..it was Tornado Jones..

Carol pulled her glock and aimed it at his head...

"You're under arrest, First degree Murder!!!.."she said.

Tornado Jones laughed out loud...

"Really?" he said.

"I'm bettin this car has the blood of Breland Bobbit on the front seat.....You said that it wasn't you in the front seat...and this car has no reason being in your warehouse..."she said.

Tornado Jones didn't flinch..

"You got a warrant to even be in here? Of course you don't....because if you did, it would be more of you...Wouldn't just be you...You got no warrant, so nothing you see here can be used in court....You know better than that....You used to be a cop,before you became a fed...Shame on you."he said,laughing...

"You know who I am?" said Carol.

"I know enough.....But my goodness,I didn't know you was so fine..Shame you're a Fed...Damn girl...I'd sure love to have a roll with you in the hay.." he said smiling salaciously....

"You aren't one for the subtle approach are you?" said Carol sarcastically..

"I don't have to be subtle." he said.

"Arrogance doesn't turn me on in the least bit." said Carol...

"No...Tell me what does turn you on...because I'd do whatever to get next to you." he said checking her out and smiling salaciously...."You got a body like whoaaa."he said laughing..

"Well why don't you confess to murder and uh tell me who you're working for..I might let you see a little bit." she said,laughing seductively and slightly opening her blouse to reveal her black lace bra...Tornado Jones smiled...His eyes got as large as saucers...

"Ha...Nice try...Not gonna happen." he laughed...

"Oh well, suit yourself." she said smiling..

"Yeah,oh well........" he said...

"I'll be back and with a warrant." said Carol...

"You really think this car will be here when you return?? Come on!!!...And this conversation between us will have never have happened." he said..."You got nothin.."he said.

"Who are you working for? You're not the boss..You tell him that whoever he is...He can't hide from me for long." said Carol.

"You got it wrong pretty lady.....YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM HIM! Hit the bricks baby!"
said Tornado Jones...

Carol knew that she had nothing to hold him on...She had overplayed her hand...She reluctantly left...

Tornado Jones watched her as she left.... He really wished she wasn't a federal agent...He found her very attractive...He got a slight erection just watching her walk away...He smiled...No woman had gotten him that excited in a long while...He tried to fight the feeling, but he was actually attracted to DEA Agent Carol Redding..He laughed at the thought....

That night at Lt. Ed Cantrell's house...Carol and Ed were once again in the bedroom, kissing....nude!

"Ed.."she said softly...

"Yes baby.."he said.

"Don't be mad at me.." she said...She had told him about what she had done..

"I'm not mad...You wanted to get these guys bad...I understand that...but remember what I always taught you about overplaying your hand...Rogue only works on TV....You should have gotten a warrant...He's right...You have nothing now...The car is long gone and by you entering his property without a warrant, you couldn't use that in an indictment anyway....You know better than that...." he said.

"I know....I wanted him so bad.."she said, tears streaming down her face...

"Don't worry...Sissy and her guys are great detectives...they'll get him...they'll find a way...I have complete faith in them...And I'll call Keith Wallace tomorrow...I'll get a warrant for all of Jones's properties.."said  Ed Cantrell...

"Ed?" said Carol...

"Yeah baby.." he said as they slow dragged nude in the middle of the floor and a cool summer breeze blew through the window across their bodies..

"I love you!!...I meant that when I yelled it out....and if you want me to...After this case is over...I'm going to try and move here with you,if that's what you want."she said.

"What about your job?" he asked..

"I'll see if they let me transfer like Sharon did and if not...I'll quit...After this case is over.I realize now that I just want to be with you...I'm tired of being alone."she said.

He smiled...

She kissed him and leaned her head on his shoulder....

He didn't know what the future would bring..but right now...It looked bright.
