 We stood with our client in the Boardroom of the Pantel Software Group.....

The Young Vice Chairman of the Board addressed us ...

''Due to the salacious nature of these recent allegations...The Board has unanimously voted that you should step down Karrie and that your husband, Derek will act as Interim Chairman until next quarter when we have a formal vote."

''A Unanimous Vote? You voted for this Derek?" Karrie angrilly said to her husband..

"To keep the company in our hands babe...I had to do it..." he said nervously smiling.

"This is outrageous...Mrs. Pantel has only been accused...She hasn't been found guilty of any wrongdoing.. She is awaiting her day in court to fight these egregious and outlandish accusations..But you have already tried her and found her guilty and are punishing her , when she might be innocent."said Ms. Yvette.

''We have reason to believe that Mrs. Pantel, who admittedly had a very discreet adult relationship with Mr. Adair was unaware that he was her employee and we have proof that she did not fire him.. His contract ran out and the people at your other office decided not to renew as they have done with several other contract workers." said Bee Bee.

"His accusations are groundless and once in court we will prove this...Do not make him a settlement until after trial..He is a spurned young man who is angry because Mrs. Pantel refused to sleep with him anymore, but she did not harrass him, nor ever threaten his job."said  Sofia.

"We believe your decision to remove Mrs. Pantel from her position as President and Chairman of the Board is a bit pre-mature..We are respectfully as her legal team asking you to reconsider." I said.

''We will be appearing in court in a few days and we will sort this entire thing out, We assure you."said Kahlil.

"I'm sorry, we don't operate the way the courtroom operates....If you've read our by laws you'll see that everything I have done, Everything we have done is above board and without reproach... If Mrs. Pantelis exonerated in court...She'll be restored as President and Chairman of the Board....If not..We are going to ask for her resignation." said the Vice Chairman.

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!  THIS IS MY COMPANY...I FOUNDED THIS COMPANY!" screamed Karrie.

"WRONG! You and your husband bought this company....You didn't found anything."said the Vice Chairman.

"This is low Chuck, even for you! When I am exonerated and return to my rightful position as Chairman of the Board and President of this Company you better look for a new job....In fact, If I were you I'd dust my resume off and start sending it out now!" said an Angry Karrie Pantel as we walked out of the building.

"Don't worry Karrie we are going to fight this tooth and nail...but as a word of caution.. It wasn't a good look you threatening that guy's job...That's ammunition that can and will be used against you." said Yvette.

"I'm sorry, but he and I have been butting heads for a long time, even before this.. He's enjoying this...And Derek..I can't believe he went along with this..I can't believe it" said Karrie.

We were surprised that he did not leave with us.

"You think maybe he just got outvoted?" I asked.

"The Vice Chairman said it was a unanimous vote. He didn't get out voted."said Bee Bee.

"I can't believe he'd go for that....But maybe it was to keep the company in you guys hands."said Sofia.

 At this point , none of us believed that..

''Well don't worry...We are going to fight this thing."said Kahlil.

"Derek is definitely going to be sleeping on the couch tonight." said Karrie.

This story had gained some traction in the local news and the press ambushed both legal teams..

"My Client has suffered panic attacks , his bills are piling up because he's been out of work..He's just finished paying off a bankruptcy and he has suffered emotional distress because Mrs. Pantell, a married woman , an entitled woman couldn't have him sexually... She fired him and continued to harrass him after he was fired."said Attorney Joan Wong.

"We want 14 Million dollars and Mrs. Pantell removed from the company."said a hurt looking Jerry Adair.

"This is all nonsense and lies.Mrs. Pantel, who admittedly had a very discreet adult relationship with Mr. Adair was unaware that he was her employee and we have proof that she did not fire him.. His contract ran out and the people at your other office decided not to renew as they have done with several other contract workers." said Yvette..

She was flanked by Me, Kahlil, Sofia and Bee Bee.

We recognized Jerry Adair's Attorney Joan Wong, 

Judge Julie Wong's niece, a former Assistant District Attorney, now working in the private sector...We had worked a case with her before.  She was good...We would have to bring our A game when we faced her.

II-

WEDNESDAY-

Jade had been here before, this laundromat....

Beverly had organized "Laundry Day" She had done this at least four times to day....Just recently a week ago..

Everybody in the neighborhood had gathered up all of their laundry and had piled upon two buses and a catering van and had trekked across the city to this very tony and ultra modern laundromat..

Beverly ,Olivia, their husbands, Donnie Ray and Nelson and their two other attorneys, Josie and Bresha and their spouses, Paris and Tony organized this.. This group organized a lot of the social life on this block...They were so happy to have us all living here after they had been here alone and kind of isolated for three or four years...

Our other neighbors, Jazzy, Dabnis, Kayla, Ray ,Jessica and Chip were ecstatic as was her own group, her new husband, Danny, Ms. Yvette and her husband, Gary, Keith and Bee Bee, Kahlil and Sofia.

Never before in her life had she ever felt so close to one group of people.. The people she worked with and her other neighbors on the block and the building she worked in...They had accepted her with arms wide open and no judgement.. she loved them all.. She'd do anything for them..

There was always plenty of food and beverages...supplied by Olivia and Beverly's office manager, Alfreda's caterer...

Alfreda and her boyfriend, ADA Rockland Cambridge and our new office manager Virginia always came along..

Two friends who actually live six blocks away...Attorneys Zoey Easter and her husband, Lem also found themselves joining the group...

27 people , not including the drivers of the buses and the caterers crowded this laundromat and washed clothing, dried clothing, watched sports on the huge monitors and talked and ate and drank.. It was good times... Jade wondered how many more times could they pull this off before it became "a problem"

They were mostly African-American...with some Latinx and Asians and an Arab thrown in the mix.. Those many non-white people gathered in one area might scare some people.

None of her neighbors and friends were here today....Most of the people in here doing laundry were white people...Twenty somethings who lived in the neighborhood.

She showed them photos of Karrie Pantel and  Jerry Adair.

Most of the people she talked to had never heard of or seen either one of them.....

One guy did....

''Yeah, she used to do her laundry in here.. Him, I seen him in here once...He bought her uh what looked like a book...She was real happy he did... She hugged him and then kissed him..He helped her fold her laundry and he walked her to her car...He didn't go with her.. That was the last time I seen either of em." He said.

Jade found the bar where they said they met....

Jade showed photos of Karrie and Jerry to close to 200 people... None of the patrons remembered seeing either of them. It's a bar..People come and people go...different people. Jade expected this...but she had to try.

The Bartender said something to Jade in Chinese.

Jade answered her back.... ''How did you know?" she asked.

"I've seen you before... You were with others...Young people when you took the American Citizenship Test....I was there taking mine too.. I remembered you....We were the only two Asian females of the same age there...

Jade remembered that day several years ago when she and Bee Bee, Sofia, Myself ,Kahlil and Ms. Yvette waited at the office of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services where she was awarded her U.S. Citizenship ,along with so many others that morning. she smiled.

"I remember.... Those were my lawyers at the time....I work for them now as an investigator, which is why I am here...You ever see these two?" asked Jade who showed her two glossies..

Of Jerry Adair and Karrie Pantel.

"Yeahhhhh I've seen them...I've seen them a lot.. They weren't flashy...They were very discreet...They'd come in , get a table in the back, order their drinks and laugh and talk quietly and eventually leave.. She had a wedding band, he didn't , so I knew she was married and they were sneaking around."said the Bartender.

"Did she seem like she was harrassing him or like he was under duress?" asked Jade.

"Harrassing Him? Her?  Nooooooooo He couldn't keep his hands off of her...Kissing her, running his hands up her skirt...rubbing her legs...She had to practically pry his hands off of her at times..She really didn't want a public scene.. He couldn't help himself." said the pretty Asian Bartender.

III-

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON-

We all sat in our conference room with Karrie Pantel discussing the case and her options..

"I've studied your company's by laws and according to their bylaws they are within their rights due to an ethics and morality clause to temporarily suspend you from your position.." said Kahlil.

"This clause was in effect before you bought and took over the company...You have been charged with having an adulterous affair with a subordinate...Your Open Marriage agreement not withstanding and his wrongful termination... I think we can prove that he was not terminated at all...And we have emails 

proving that the relationship was consensual. At least in the beginning..but we need to know who broke it off, him or you?" I said.

"I broke it off....It was getting to be too much...We had gone out, I had spent the night...a night of non stop lovemaking.....

I already knew he was an employee at this point....I drove him to work at the other office in Bayside..

We made love in the breakroom,one of the breakrooms for hours...

and then we went back to his house and made love for yet a third time that day...

"I broke it off after that day.....I couldn't do this anymore.. This was getting too extreme and he was beginning to have feelings...That was the break off point.. He called me and texted me several times after that begging me to come back to him..I ignored them....and three months later his contract was up and that was that...I never saw him again until the other day when he showed up at my lecture.," said Karrie.

"We have the emails and the texts he sent you, but did you send any to him after the fact?  If you did..We need to know..We don't wish to be surprised by anything he could throw at you."asked Sofia.

"Did you send him anything Karrie? Panty pictures?? Videos??" asked Bee Bee..

"I uh did send some rather racy videos and texts to him... In the beginning!" said Karrie.

Yvette sighed.. "We need to see it...ALL OF IT!" said Ms. Yvette.

THURSDAY-

At a press conference we showed the sexy texts sent to Jerry Adair.

April 2021-

"Hiiiiiiiiiii Jerry, I just bought these today....If you want to see me in them you'll meet me at this hotel in twenty minutes...

"We are showing these texts to the press days before the trial because we wish to be completely transparent in this matter." said Ms. Yvette.

"This is proof that there was no harrassing , no threatening in the relationship." I added.

"This was a very discreet adult relationship with Mr. Adair in which our client was unaware that he was her employee " said Bee Bee.

"Our relationship was completely consensual.. Mr. Adair is a liar if he says otherwise."said our client, Karrie Pantel.

" We have proof that she did not fire him.. His contract ran out and the people at the other office decided not to renew this contract as they have done with several other contract workers."said Sofia.

"We can't wait to get to court to prove our client's innocence and to fight these  egregious and outlandish accusations."said Kahlil.

"My wife and I have an open marriage...I was aware of the uh entanglement...what I don't approve of is the extortion that is being used against her." said her husband Derek Pantel.

Jade sat silently with us, saying nothing...

The press was tiltilated.... Jerry Adair was there with his Attorney.

"These texts and that video prove nothing..They prove just how depraved this woman was and how far she went to seduce my client." she said.

Jerry Adair smiled wryly....

Back in our office that day.

''We are prepared to make you a one time only offer of 7 million dollars for you to drop these charges and go away...No court case..No Harm, No foul. Just sign this Non Disclosure Order." said Ms. Yvette.

"Forget it....I want 14 Million and Mrs. Pantel's resignation from the office of President and Chairman of the Board. Take that or leave it." said Jerry Adair.

"Aww Man you're off your nut." said an angry Kahlil.

"Relax Kahli.."said Yvette rubbing his back softly.. "You can't be serious...We made you an overly generous offer."said Ms. Yvette.

'Too Generous if you ask me, considering he's a lying liar." said an equally stunned and furious Bee Bee.

I hugged her and rubbed her back..

"Easy...Easy baby." I whispered in her ear.

"Our position is , Mrs. Pantel is a sexual predator and a sexual predator should not be allowed to profit from her crimes." said his attorney, Joan Wong.

"She's the victim here...Not him." said Sofia.

''Save it for court counselor." said Jerry Adair as he and his attorney got up.

''We'll see you in court Yvette....Congratulations on making partner....Beautiful Office you have here."said Attorney Joan Wong as she and Jerry got up to leave.

"Wowww, you offer a guy 7 million and he turns it down... makes you wonder doesn't it?" I asked.

"Makes you wonder if somebody is offering him more somewhere." said Bee Bee.

"That's exactly what I'm thinking Bee." said Kahlil.

"He didn't flinch....She must have really hurt him when she broke it off with him."said Sofia.

''Makes you wonder." said Jade.

''We made him a proffer and he turned it down...Wowwwwwwwwww! I thought he'd go for it." said Derek.

"I can't believe this."said Karrie.

"Well my dear, maybe you aren't as sexy or charming as you thought you were..."laughed Derek... "Let's go to dinner...Yvette guys..Thanks for everything..We'll see you in court." he said. as they left.

Ms Yvette, Ms. Jade, Myself, Bee Bee, Sofia and Kahlil all stood stunned by Derek's last remark..None of us said anything though...It had been an interesting week.

IV-

FRIDAY NIGHT-

The view was fantastic....The night was warm...

Ms. Yvette, Attorney Yvette Jones-Lockwood...our supervisor and Managing Partnerat our law firm was looking as sultry and sexy as ever...A fact not lost on her husband,

Gary Lockwood, an Investigator with the District Attorney's Office..

The view from Penns Landing was fabulous...It was a Friday Night..end of a long week and they had the weekend to themselves.. They weren't far from the building she worked in.

You couldn't ask for a better afternoon.....

A nice date....a nice view.....It was however the calm before the storm that was just on the horizon.

All that drinking and kissing led back to a drive to Gary and Yvette's home.
