THE OFFICE OF JHETT GARLAND, ATTORNEY AT LAW- FRIDAY MORNING!

"Damn this was definitely a rage killing...He's got multiple skull fractures...I can see that." said one crime scene investigator...

"Oh YOU can see that huh?"laughed Dr. Hazel Baylor, who was looking at the body...

"There is arterial blood spray here on the desk..."said Dr. Marcy Martin

''And what looks like dried semen on his trouser leg and on the floor...Just what went on in here?" asked Hazel.

"It's obvious what went on in here..Late night sex with a side of murder."said Lt. Tragg

"The cleaning woman discovered the body this morning...and called the cops."said one of the Homicide Detectives on the scene.

"Looks like he's been here all night...judging by the level of decomposition.." said Lt. Tragg.

"I put the time of death at anywhere between 11:30 pm  and midnight..."said Hazel....

"He was beat about the head pretty good..Someone was really pissed at him." said Dr. Marcy Martin.

"11:30 pm last night...I was in Curley's bar with Kelly Anne, sipping an ice cold brew."mused Lt. Tragg.

"Can we move the body?" asked a CSI guy.

"Yeah! Bag him and tag him...and ladies...I need a full autopsy on my desk, ASAP!" said Lt. Tragg.

"He called us "Ladies" and not Girls." said Dr. Marcy Martin

"How about that?" giggled Dr. Hazel Baylor.

They put the lifeless battered body of Jhett Garland in a body bag and strapped it to a gurney...

They rolled him down the hallway past the onlookers to the elevator.

We had just finished breakfast and were hanging out in our conference room...We were pretty happy....We had cleared Judge Jeffries and got his conviction vacated and him back on the bench.

 

 ''What a good day...End of the week, no new cases on any of our dockets...We can relax today...I'm thinking of going upstairs to the gym and spa and working out...I brought my gym clothes..."said Yvette.

"Wow! I didn't think of that...but I can see us relaxing today.  I heard Judge Jeffries is going back to the courtroom this coming Monday." I said.

"I heard that too!  Wow!  You'd think he'd want to bask in his courtroom victory and exoneration."said Bee Bee,.

"Welllll you can only bask so long...I suppose he feels it's time to get back to his old routine."said Sofia.

"He has been out of court since his indictment. Guess he's ready to get back into the swing of things."said Kahlil.

"He put that wife of his out...and according to their pre-nup...She gets nothing....Both because she left him within four years and she cheated on him."said Jade.

"He made a pre-nup like that and she signed it... He must have had his suspicions about her all along..."said Virginia.

"He must have...She's his second wife.He married her right after his first wife died.."said Yvette.

''She and Jhett are facing disciplinary actions from the Bar Association....It could lead to disbarment."said Virginia.

"Serves her right ,conjuring up a stunt like that and using Jhett the way she did...The man always did have a wandering eye..."said Yvette.

''Don't you mean another part of his anatomy Ms. Yvette?" laughed Bee Bee.

This brought the entire room, Me, Bee Bee, Kahlil, Virginia and Jade to loud raucous laughter...

Laughter that was going to come to an end pretty soon.

Toni Robinson walked into our office...She looked like she had been crying.

"Heyyyyy Toni....I've been looking for you...First off I wanted to thank you for helping us clear Judge

Jeffries and get him re-instated...and secondly, I think I have a job offer for you." said Yvette.

"Ms. Yvette, I need your help..I need you to represent me...I may be in a little trouble." said Toni.

II-

"Ms. Yvette, Jhett Garland is dead...He was murdered...Last Night...I was seen running from the building...but I didn't kill him, I swear....I fear I'm going to be accused of his murder, but I swear I didn't kill him." said Toni.

 Up until she walked into our office....None of us knew that Jhett Garland was dead...and murdered at that!

 "He was murdered last night...When we were all in Curley's at Couple's Night."said a shocked Ms. Yvette.

"WOW!  This case won't go away." I said.

"Toni calm down...Let me get you a glass of water..."said Bee Bee.

"Sit down and tell us what happened."said Sofia.

"And don't leave out anything."said Kahlil.

Jade said nothing...She sat back quietly and listened.

Virginia brought in water and glasses for all of us.

Toni told her story...

"Jhett called me at around 9:30 pm...I was getting dressed to go out...I was going to join you guys at Curleys, even though I didn't have a plus one.. He said he needed to talk to me in person at the office.

I figured he was going to fire me....I figured I might as well get it out of the way....

He was sitting at his desk...He had downed a bottle of wine and there was another bottle on the table he hadn't opened yet.

He said, "You know Toni you have caused me a great deal of professional embarrassment  this week and have caused me a deep personal loss.... I told you I wasn't going to use those two witnesses...I told you one had a criminal record and wouldn't be seen as reliable and the other one just didn't seem to be on the up....Didn't I stress this in trial preparation....but YOU...YOU couldn't let that go could you?....You went to another lawyer, Yvette Jones and gave her those two witnesses,.....She called them during the appeal and she roasted me as well and everything was upside down...  Now I face disciplinary action from the bar association as does Mrs. Jeffries..." he said softly...

"Were you trying to send YOUR CLIENT, her husband to jail?  Were you trying to do that when you KNEW he was innocent?  Who are you?  I thought you were a brilliant defense attorney...But I've lost all faith in you now...If you want to fire me, go ahead...because I can't stomach working for you any longer." I said.

"Have some wine." he said softly...

"No thanks, I'll be going now." I said.

He blocked the door...

"You owe me..." he said.

"I don't owe you anything." I said.

"YES YOU DOOOO!" he said.

And he grabbed me and kissed me

through me up against the wall and continued kissing me , nearing putting his tongue down my throat...I couldn't believe this was happening between us. He unzippered his trousers.....He was massive and very hard....

"Let me go please! Don't pull your pants down...pull your zipper back up!" I demanded...

"You know, I don't live too far from here...If you come home with me...We can talk about you keeping your job." he said.

"No thank you..." I said.

He slipped his hands up under my dress.. and was rubbing my legs and yanking really hard on the waistband of my panties.

"Take your hands from under my dress...." I said...

"OUUUUUUUUUUU YOUR PANTIES MATCH YOUR DRESS!" he moaned.

"PLEASE STOP!!! PLEASE STOP!" I cried out...I pulled my dress back down....

Jhett pulled me to him, His hand was still up my skirt...He tugged on the waistband of  my panties, I finally moved his hands from under my skirt.........He attempted to kiss me again, but this time I moved my head...He tried to move it back, but I moved away....

"YOU OWE ME!" he said.

"I DON'T OWE YOU NOTHIN....NOW LET ME GO!" I said.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, come here baby....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you've got me hotter than a cigarette at a gas station.." he moaned..
He grabbed my butt and pulled me into him, He kissed my neck and the side of her face....I eased out of his embrace once again..

He knocked over a chair...Some of his briefs fell to the floor...He was now grinding me up against the wall and breathing heavily...

He ejaculated in his trousers.....his zipper was down , and all over my dress....

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" he moaned...

I kneed him in his groin and he yelled out in pain...He slapped me and I slapped him back..

He fell and hit his head up against his desk...

It opened a gash in his head...He was bleeding, but alive...

He stood up, holding his bloody head and screamed..

"GET THE HELL OUT THEN!   YOU'RE FIRED!!!" he said..

"I ran to the ladies room.... I had a large semen stain on my skirt...I went in the ladies room and washed that part of my skirt off.. It was still wet when I came back...

When I walked past his office..

I saw him lying on the floor...He was obviously dead....Someone else had stepped in that office after I left...It wasn't me Ms. Yvette...He was alive when I left him, he was  standing up...I swear." said Toni.

"Oh My God!" said Bee Bee.

''Aye Mios Dios." said Sofia.

"What an Asshole...A dog to the very end." scoffed Virginia.

"I didn't touch anything ...I got the hell out of there as fast as I could."said Toni.

"That was smart....First thing we are going to do...Is find out if there is a warrant out for you...and if it is, you're going to turn yourself in...What we are going to do right now is give you a pencil and a sheet of paper and you're going to write down the names of charactor witnesses...We need home addresses, phone numbers and email addresses."said Ms. Yvette.

"We'll take care of everything else." I said.

"Call Olivia, tell her I need another favor. Remind me to get her a really nice gift for Christmas." said Yvette.

"Go home Toni, pack an overnite bag or two and bring your car back here...park in our garage."said Kahlil.

"We want to get ahead of this and fast.." said Yvette.

Toni did as she was told to do and then she and Yvette walked to police headquarters...

Where she turned herself in and was formally charged with First degree Murder.. The Murder of her former employer, Jhett Garland.

We had saved Lt. Tragg from a long protracted city manhunt....but that was the only break he was getting.

Toni knew not to say anything to anybody....

She wound up in a holding cell in what was commonly known as "The Cooler", the last place she ever expected to be...

Even in Death ,Jhett Garland was a pain in the ass..She thought.

IV-

A FEW DAYS LATER-COURTROOM B-

It was Tuesday....We had lucked up and gotten an 8:00 pm  Night Court hearing for Toni.  Yvette felt bad that she had to spend the entire weekend and Monday in custody..

NIGHT COURT-

In Philadelphia, Night Court only operates two nights a week....Tuesday and Thursday, Tonight was Tuesday...and fortunately...We got an arraignment date of 8:00 pm. 

The Judge in this case would not be the Judge in the actual case....

Lt. Tragg was not there... He was probably snuggled up with Judge Kelly Ann at her loft...Night court was too low profile for him anyway....No witnesses...No media..and a bunch of  Judges  and ADA's who were mostly older Judges and ADA's about to retire...It was lightweight. It was in session from 7:00 pm- 10:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays...We were quite fortunate to get a date.

Antoinette "Toni" Robinson was no worse for the wear...She appeared in court, looking clean and ready... Her dress was pressed...and her hair was remarkably well coifed...She didn't look like a woman who had been locked up for three days.

We sat by her in court.

 

 "You look good girlie...Not bad for someone whose been locked up for three days." said Yvette.

"Thank You." said Toni...

"You sit tight..We are going to try and get you out of here.." I said,.

"You have a lot going for you."said Bee Bee.

"You're an officer of the court, no priors...We've come in here with people with a lot less going for them than you."said Sofia.

"And we've gotten them out of here."said Kahlil.

"Thank you all... I feel better already..." said Toni.

"Just relax." said Jade.

The ADA that did show up was not going to be the ADA that tried the case...He had only the basic out line of the case at hand... He basically wanted to go home...So he didn't really put up much of a fight.

We presented 34 charactor witnesses .

We argued that  Toni Robinson,  an Attorney herself , an officer of the court with no prior criminal record was not a flight risk and eagerly wanted her day in court to face these ridiculous and mistaken charges.

The Judge liked us and respected us....He also knew of Lt. Tragg's penchant for rushing to judgement and arresting the wrong person... He easily released Toni on her own recognizance..

"Oh My God!!! I'm free!! Oh Thank you!" said Toni.

"I'm sure you want something to eat...We are going over to Sam Mother's...Then we are going to get you bedded down."said Bee Bee.

"We'll get you some good hot comfort food... An improvement over that jailhouse swill." said Sofia.

"Having been in the cooler myself once....I know that's right."said Yvette.

"YOU were in the cooler once Ms. Yvette?" asked Toni.

"Yes...I lost my temper with an Asshole Judge once and he jailed for a night for a contempt....Let that be a lesson to all of you...Never let a Judge or an ADA bait you into losing your temper...Always keep your cool..The Cooler is no joke."said Yvette.

The Four of us listened intently.....Earlier this year, Judge James Smith, now incarcerated came close to hauling all of us into jail for contempt, due to his contemptable behavior. We kept our cool and avoided 

his taunts...  I think that bothered him more than us.

After Night Court we all went to Sam Mother's and had dinner....a late dinner, but a hot delicious and comforting meal after all.

We then dropped Toni off at Olivia and Beverly's Office/Duplex-

"Olivia, I'm gonna get you something extra special for Christmas..."said Yvette.

"Oh girrrrl you need to stop...We are sisters , we do things for each other."said Olivia.

"Come on Toni....We have a furnished apartment in this building's sub-basement...Bed, Television with cable and streaming and surround sound...A Half bathroom with a shower...and a chest of drawers for your clothes..."said Beverly...

"I just put some clean bedsheets and pillow cases on the bed..." said Beverly's husband, Nelson...

''Come on Baby....I've got some towels and wash rags for you."said Olivia.

"Thank you all so much for your kindness." said Toni.

"If you need anything more...We are all right across the street." said Yvette as we all bid each other good night.

Elsewhere that same night..

After we all got home from work that night..We were all settled down with our significant others.. What better way to spend a cold winter night than to be making love.?

Bee Bee was wearing another sheer see through Baby doll.....She had just taken a hot shower and walked into our bedroom..

My eyes popped out of my head..She had on a new bra and matching panties that I hadn't seen before.

"You always say that."laughed Bee Bee.

I pulled her towards me...Is this something you bought at Bridget's store the other day?" I asked.

I undressed and  unhooked her bra  and slipped her panties down and off  and took her into my arms and kissed her softly....

Who could ask for anything more?

We lie across the bed, kissing and practically slobbering over each other....

Soon we were making love passionately on top of the bed..

The next EIGHT TO NINE HOURS, all we were thinking about was each other..

The same was next door at Kahlil and Sofia's house..

Sofia and Kahlil were lying across the bed..

Kissing ,fondling and laughing..

He unhooked her bra and  slipped her panties down and off...

Gary and Ms. Yvette were way ahead of us..

Such a nice night! for some of us anyway!

Hopefully, Toni was sleeping peacefully too!
