Lois's estranged husband ,Dr. Marvin Farber, who didn't seem to be doing anything to help his wife, but rather hinder the investigation ran up to her as soon as he saw her come into court..
"LOIS, where have you been? I've been worried sick about you...Lt. Coward has been turning this town upside looking for you.." he said.
"Has he? He couldn't find a suspect if the suspect turned himself in..." she said..
Lt. Coward was in earshot and he heard her remark...He didn't particularly like it.
Beverly heard it too and howled with laughter
Nelson ,cautioned her to cool it..
Josie was laughing too...
Lt. Noble Coward walked over to them...
"You people find something humorous?" he snarled...
"Is there a crime in laughter Lieutenant?" asked Lead Attorney, Olivia Bennett-Alexander...
"I CAN MAKE IT A CRIME! ARREST ALL OF YOU!" he snarled.
"Can you now? I'll bet that would be a neat trick!" I said.
He looked at me especially with icy hatred...
"You know...We have capable lawyers in this town....We didn't need no high falutin attorneys from Philadelphia comin up here disrupting our town.." he said.
"Disrupting what? We haven't been seen or heard from by you or any of your detectives and officers...What have we disrupted?"asked Beverly..
"He means we've disrupted the conspiracy to put a lid of the investigation.."said Olivia.
Lt. Coward seethed with anger...
"Are you questioning my integrity? My ability to run a decent and fair investigation?" he asked..
''Don't answer that Liv....It's a trick question." I said.
''Score one for my husband."laughed Olivia
"That was funny.."said Beverly
"Come on guys let's get inside, trial is about to begin.."said Nelson.
Josie giggled as we filed into court...
Lt. Coward stomped his foot.. He was furious...we had turned in our rental car and we had also shipped most of stuff (law books, laptops,additional phones and tablets) back to Philly...We wouldn't need them.
Lois sat with us...

The trial began...
Assistant District Attorney Dan Jenkins had a lot riding on this case...He had aspirations of running for District Attorney and then Mayor...
He was popular around town, Glib and a very eloquent speaker...
He gave an opening sumnation that was like a church sermon of how the harlot (he didn't use that word, but he might as well have) Mrs. Lois Farber carried on an illicit affair with Millionaire Playboy Bruce Studevan right under her poor hardworking husband's nose ,while going to him for dental needs...and how when she found out he was seeing another young lady in town...She killed him out of jealousy.
It was riveting if a bit of a stretch..
Olivia was dressed to the nines and with very expensive shoes...This made the jury of 7 women and five men...
Handpicked by Nelson during a brilliant Voir Dire in which he outwitted Jennings easily..
Very impressed..They were impressed with her hair, her dress, her shoes..her earrings.. More so than they were this case...
Reporters snapped photos of Olivia and her niece Beverly and the two enjoyed a celebrity like status in the town..
She countered with the fact that our client knew about the other woman and that Bruce had ended the affair, especially after her husband had given him a sound "talking to." They had made up and were making love when he suddenly died..
That our client had no reason to murder Mr. Studevan..
Beverly backed her aunt up by saying that they had proof that Dr. Farber knew about the affair for months and was closed lipped about it...
While I never located the Private Investigator Dr. Farber hired...I did turn up some returned check stubs for his service from the local bank with Farber's signature..
As usual ADA Jennings called several forensic specialists and policemen who testified to what they observed at the murder scene...
Josie passed notes and documents to Olivia, Beverly and Nelson...
who only cross examined them lightly.....
County Coroner ,Dr.Wilbur Haley was next and his testimony was the bombshell..
"Look, that guy was 36 years old and as healthy as a horse...He died from cardiac arrest...brought on by the heart medication prescribed to Mrs.Farber. " he said..
Jennings then stressed..
"And you found enough of this medication in their Sangria Glasses and the Pitcher to kill a horse correct?"he asked..
"Yes. If that horse had drank it.." he said and slyly looked at Olivia..He knew what was coming next..
On cross examination...Olivia asked him...
"Tell me about the flutes of Sangria and the Pitcher?" she said..
"They never drank from the glasses...There was no prints or DNA of either person on either glasss and the pitcher was filled to the brim ,they never got around to drinking it....There was no medication in Mrs. Farber's urine or blood stream.That poison got into the deceased another way." he said and smiled at Olivia..
"No more questions your honor.."said Olivia..
Jennings was livid...He demanded proof...
Nelson said quietly...
"It's all in discovery"
The Judge, an older white woman , who clearly didn't want to be there and who didn't seem as though she cared for Jennings said.
''That's right...it all is in discovery and if you had bothered to look at it instead of smiling and primping for your press conference...you'd of known that...Move on counselor.." she said.
This brought on guffaws of laughter...
Jennings was livid...and the next few days were not good for him..
Beverly picked apart every witness , every expert he brought up, aided by
Josie's notes and keen documents she was passing to her...
Olivia and Nelson sat back....waiting and watching....Their turn was coming...
By the end of the week , Jennings whole case had fallen down along his ankles and he knew it..He gave an eloquent, over dramatic closing argument that bordered on Jury nullification...asking the jury to find Lois Farber guilty of murder in the first degree.
He looked at Lt. Coward with red hot anger..
"Youuuu idiot...You told me you had an airtight case....There are more holes in your investigation than the Titanic...I can't afford to lose this...I'm up for District Attorney.." said Jennings..
"Look my investigation was thorough..They got nothing...Just conjecture.." Coward argued..
III-
Early morning, a few days later found Olivia in the judges chambers going over her notes..
I brought her coffee..
She smiled at me...
''Awwww Thank youuuuu." she said.
''Why are you in here all alone?" I asked.
''It's quiet, it's early..I was just prepping the case a little more...I'm finished now." she said.
"Where is Beverly and Nelson?" I asked.
"They stopped in town to get breakfast...
Lois is with them.. Trial doesn't start for two hours. I wasn't hungry." she said softly as she drank her tumbler of coffee...
I finished my coffee and headed for the door..
I didn't want to destroy her concentration...
''Donnnnnnie Rayyyyyyyyyyyyyy where are you goinnggggggggggg?"she said seductively...
I turned toward her..
"I uh didn't want to destroy your concentration..."I said in a low voice..
''Come here and stop playing with me.." she whispered....
We kissed passionately......Her kisses were slow and soft and I was losing my mind....She knew it too!
"Ummmmmmm..Is that door locked?" she whispered seductively.
I checked the door..It was locked..
"Uhh Yes..it is.." I said....
We continued kissing...
''Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu girl, what has gotten into you?" I asked.
"You." she giggled..
We continued kissing for close to an hour...
"Donnie Rayyyyyyy , ummmmmmmmm.you smell good and you feel good baby." she said in between slow smouldering kisses..
Kisses that were driving me out of my mind..
''You're not worried about us getting caught?...."I said.
in between more slow, hot, smouldering kisses...
"No..the judge is in the same restaurant, Beverly, Nelson, Josie and Lois are in .She gave me her keys ,she said to use her chambers if I wanted to study before trial.. She's pretty cool, she likes me a lot.." she cooed...
"I like you a lot too!" I said..
She felt the crotch area of my trousers and smiled..
"I see....ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.." she cooed...
"Oh myyyyyyyyyyy"I moaned...
"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu." she moaned...
I slipped my hand up her skirt...She didn't move it..
"You're baddd Donnie Ray.." she said..
"So are you" I said...
"You know what you always say...bad is sexy." She giggled,
"Yes it isssss." I said, smiling...….
I couldn't believe she was letting me go for it..
I slipped my hand up her skirt again, softly caressing her thighs and hips...I tugged on the waistband of her panties...
Now Olivia was getting aroused.....
"Ummmmmmm, you are soooo bad Donnie Ray, ..Hurry up"she said.
I slowly slid her panties down and off and hiked her skirt up...I lifted her up...She put her arms around my neck and stared at me...
I was losing my mind...I entered her slowly and softly and began to slide in and out of her so comfortably it wasn't funny...
"You smell good and you look so good in that new suit...Is it tailored?" she asked.
"It is...Sam The Tailor made two for me and two for Nelson before we left..."I said as I continued to thrust inside of Olivia slowly...
"That fragrance...what is it?" she asked in between slow soft kisses
"It's from the Orient..One of my musician friends gave me this...Ouuuuuuuuuuuuu...awwwwwww my god Livy you feel soo damn good." I said.
''So do youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.." she cooed.
"Ohhhhhhhhhh I needed this soooo bad..." she moaned..
'Well you know, all you ever have to do is ask." I said softly...
"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….good to know.." she said..
We made love like that for FORTY FIVE MINUTES before we both came with a wild abandon..
"Ouu that was so good..Nothing like a good quickie." Olivia purred...
"Yes lawd…" I said.
The Judges chambers had a nice washroom, which we both used to freshen up...
Olivia and I both emerged from the Judges Chambers holding hands and smiling..
Lt. Coward was standing outside...
''And just what were you two doing in there?" he asked.
"If I have to explain it to you...You REALLY shouldn't be doing police work" was all I'd say...
Olivia looked at him and giggled.
He stood there scowling.
IV-
The second week of trial began...
Olivia and Beverly began with a very eloquent and to the point argument ,stating that this entire thing was nonsense that their client was innocent
and had no reason to murder her lover....but this was a murder and they intended to prove that. they said.
The jury appeared riveted....
Her husband began to look a little nervous...
Lt. Coward who had all but been humiliated during the first week of the trial began to stare at him too.
I had located the three goons who had attacked Nelson and I...
Josie, Beverly and I had located them and served them with supeonas.
Nelson ,Olivia and Beverly asked them under oath if they had called Attorney Nicole Barrett and threatened her about this case...They all said that they did...(We had phone records to prove that they did , even if they had lied and said they didn't...I uncovered those early)
They then were asked if they had physically attacked Private Investigator, Neal Burton, who had testified and picked out the two who had beat him and broken his jaw...
They admitted it and all three were handcuffed and booked for assault and making terroristic threats, and obstruction of justice.
Neal Burton Testified next-
"I was getting too close to the truth....Mrs. Farber told me that neither she nor the boyfriend ever got around to drinking the Sangria...The Doc said there was no prints or DNA on the glasses and the pitcher was full....I had the glasses and the pitcher checked for prints and DNA...Her husband's prints were on the pitcher, but neither hers nor the deceased guy...Also...No DNA of either of them were on the glasses of Sangria...Meaning they didn't drink anything.."said Burton..
''So what happened next?" asked Nelson...
"I went to Lt. Coward with this, but he didn't want to hear it...He dismissed me because I'm a Private Investigator and you know how that goes..Cops and P.I.'s" he said..
"You were attacked after that?" asked Beverly..
"Yeah..those two beat me up pretty bad..broke my jaw....I dropped the case, told Ms. Barrett, thanks but no thanks and gave her her money back.." he said..
Jennings argued relevance...
"What has all of this got to do with the case..?" he asked.
"It has everything to do with this case...These three men intimidated a Public Defender and her investigator as well as the County Coroner to keep them from coming to any conclusion that clashed with the official investigation." said Olivia..
"I'd call that Obstruction of Justice....It's a clear case of that." said Beverly...
"Bailiff's , before you take these men away....I want to question them under oath."said Nelson.
It was the moment Olivia ,Beverly and Nelson were waiting for...They asked each of the men who hired them and under oath they said Dr. Marvin Farber...
The Jury began to roar...
"Oh this is preposterous..Are you trying to say I had something to do with this? This is preposterous.You're taking their word? They're criminals." said Dr. Farber laughing nervously..
"That's exactly what we are saying "said Beverly who showed the jury an XRAY photo of Bruce Studevan's mouth..provided by Josie..
who smiled..
"This is Bruce Studevan's tooth,
the one you put a filling in hours before he died.."said Olivia..
"You put your wife's heart medication into the filling you placed in his tooth ,...A slow acting poison...that's how it got into his system..."said Nelson...
"Oh you can't prove that." he said.
Olivia said.
"Oh I think we can...we have the actual tooth.
...there are still traces of the heart medication inside the filling. It didn't take that much to kill him.." she said..
"When you were called and told what happened...You arrived on the scene, playing the grieving husband, saw the Pitcher of Sangria and the full Flutes
and of course you spiked it with enough of your wife's heart medication to kill a horse.." said Beverly..
"Oh this is unbelievable.."said Dr. Farber...
"I BELIEVE IT!" said Lt. Coward, who took out handcuffs and handcuffed Dr. Farber.
"YOU'RE UNDER ARREST PARTNER. FIRST DEGREE MURDER!" he said...
"READ HIM HIS RIGHTS AND TAKE HIM DOWN!" he said to the two uniforms...
"I don't believe this..Noble...Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!" he said..."Then he looked at Lois..
"You shouldn't have cheated on me...NOT WITH HIM!" he said as the police dragged him away..
"Well in lieu of this information...you are free to go young lady. All charges are dropped." said the Judge..
The Press descended on the courtroom in full force snapping photos of Olivia and Beverly..
"Well you guys have done it again...." "We are so glad to have the distinguished Aunt and Niece lawyer team in our town" they said..
ADA Dan Jennings once again took a photo in between the two with his arms around their wastes...
"It was an honor to go up against such astute attorneys..." he said.
He was as phony as a three dollar bill..
"Even in a losing effort eh counselor?" remarked a reporter...
He gave the reporter a baleful stare....
"OHHHHHHHHHHHH THANK YOU GUYS!" said Lois..Hugging all of us.
"You should thank Richard Graves....He paid us and sent us here.."said Olivia..
"Yes and with new shoes." added Beverly...
"I could use a cold one right about now.." I said.
"Me too! Wow...That was one of our more easier cases."said Nelson.
"Nelson.. Why don't you quit Mr. Foxworth's practice and come work for us, you're always with us anyway.." said Josie..
Nelson did always seem to be around us and always want in on our cases...Olivia always graciously hired him as a consultant.
It would be nice to add two very talented attorneys to my practice...You and Ms. Josie here when she graduates and passes the bar."said Olivia..
''And you can be around all of this lusciousness and never have to leave me.."said Beverly, who kissed him slowly and softly..
Nelson looked like he was in a daze...
"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.." he moaned..
I whispered to Olivia....
"That'll get him if nothing else will."
"Ummmm Hmmm." she laughed.
EPILOUGE-
With her husband in jail, awaiting murder charges...Lois Farber moved back into the house she paid for and that they shared...
Our last night in Cape Cod...We celebrated at our favorite spot..
.All of us chowing down on Lobster...
''This is delish.."said Beverly...
''Doesn't get much better than this."said Nelson..
"Ummmmm. Ummmmmmmmmmmph.." said Josie as she chowed down...
Olivia sat in my lap and was eating too, She kept jerking...and silently moaning...
"Ouuuuuuuuuuuu….ummmmmmmmmmmph." she moaned...
I don't think she was moaning solely because of the food..
I wasn't eating, but I had a huge smile on my face....
"Will you stop looking so ...so satisfied..?" she whispered in my ear.

Nice conclusion. I almost feel bad for Coward being so goofy. Almost, but not quite.
