The Tide Turns

 A Space Station hovers above the Earth... It is peopled by people of all nations...These people live and work there in six month intervals.. 

Then they return to Earth or Luna City on the Moon.

and then back to the Space Station for another six month rotation..

It is beautiful...

Monica and I and Carlos took a shuttle from spaceport the night before... Our assignment was to locate this satellite and destroy it! Lt Cotton wanted to aggressively thwart this latest plot of Capt. Moray.

He got us tickets and clearance..

The three of us.. Monica, myself and Carlos took a shuttle from Spaceport to the Space Station....The trip took half the time it took to fly from the Earth to the moon.

"It's beautiful, isn't it Nate?" asked Monica as we entered.

"Yeah, wow!" I said. I was like a little kid, looking around at everything in Amazement..

It was like a regular city ...It was colorful and amazing..

"I worked a murder case on this station when I was still with the Luna City Police department on the Moon." said Carlos Wallace as we walked along the "Streets" of this space station...

We saw a familliar face... District Investigator Jack McCall.. We had met him on the Planet Mars two years ago and worked a case with him... He remembered us..

"Wallace...I heard you quit the Luna City Police Department.. You're back on Earth now huh?" he said.

''Yeah...I'm back on Earth...I'm a Private Investigator now.. I work with a lot of Attorneys...This case I'm working for an Insurance Company and with the Police./" explained Carlos.

"Detectives Nellis and Nellis.. Long time no see ,I remember you guys."said Jack McCall.

''We certainly remember you."said Monica.

''Yes indeed." I said.

"Your Lieutenant has briefed me on the situation... We are monitoring the situation on Earth... We will be able to identify the Satellite  and the signal...but your guy has to create another Tidal Wave... Once he does that...We will not only be able to knock that satellite out, but we'll be able to tell you the origin of that signal." said Jack McCall.

"Oh that will be just great." said Monica.

"Outstanding." I said.

As we got situated on the Space Station.

Meanwhile on Earth, we had no idea we were the targets of something more sinister..

"Boss, I've turned this city upside down the past 24 hours and I can't find hide nor hair of either Monica Talbert or her husband, Nate Nellis. It's almost like they left town.."said the man named Matey.

"What about Pretty Boy... Lt. Frankie Cotton Jr." asked Captain Moray...

"Him I got a bead on...I've been following him..From his house to the police station to the Medical Examiners office...He has lunch with his pretty little wife almost everyday." said Matey.

'' That's his wife, Monica Talbert's twin sister."said Dr. Moray. "MAKE HER A WIDOW!" said Captain Moray.

"Got'cha boss!" laughed Matey,.

Helga Gorgan sat alone in the "Fishbowl", the nickname given to the Interrogation Room generations ago by Detectives..

She shrugged arrogantly when Lt. Cotton and Kylie White walked into the room.

"Helga....Helga Stratton...Do you know who you are? You are the last woman standing.. You are the last member of Captain William Moray's mob alive... " said Kylie.

"Your other two friends, James Mobley and Billy Tate are dead, poisoned."said Lt. Cotton.

"I heard." she said.

"You should help us...because Moray is bat shit crazy...He's paranoid...He thinks an inside guy told us where his base was, he thinks it was you guys...Ryder has already killed two of your associates and he had Sersi Winters fish herself into our cafeteria and poison your other two associates...That's why we moved you... Yes we know all about Sersi.. Interpol tells us she's a French National.. A sick serial killer known for poisoning people.. He's not going to stop until you're dead... We know that you aren't the snitch...Neither was Mobley or Tate...but Moray thinks so and don't think he's going to spare you."said Kylie.

''So you want me to help you ,so then he'll have a real reason to kill me...Rightttttttttt?" laughed Helga.

" Look there is no way you can go back to work for him, even if we let you go...He won't trust you..he'll kill you... Did you know an attorney has already been hired for you and if bail is set.. Bail will be paid..What do you think will happen next? You'll be dead before the end of the day...Why would he try to bail you out after he's killed your friends? he's planning to kill you." said Lt. Cotton.

Helga looked frightened..

"I'll....I'll think about it." she said.

''Don't take too long...you have an arraignment in a day." said Kylie as she and Lt. Cotton left the room.

She looked at Lt. Cotton...

"You think she'll come to her senses and flip?" asked Kylie.

"I don't know...but if she doesn't.. She'll be dead by the end of the day..." said Lt. Cotton.. "For all we know, one of his gunmen is somewhere in the city right now."said Lt. Cotton.

He was closer than the Lieutenant thought..

They left the building and headed for a marked police car.

Kylie saw a refection in the window of the car from across the street..

A bearded man with a high powered rifle was aimed at Lt. Cotton..

"LIEUTENANT!!!! HIT THE DECK!!" she yelled...

Lt. Cotton's lightning quick reflexes went into action, he hit the pavement, just as two shots rang out shatterring the glass on the police car..

Kylie emptied her glock in the direction of the shots...

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HELLL!! I DON'T BELIEVE IT...I"VE BEEN SHOT!" screamed Matey..

He had been hit at least six times..he was bleeding profusely....

"OHHHHHHHHHHHH GOOOD LORD!!! I'M ALL SHOT TO HELL...OHHHHH MOTHERRRR!" he mumbled.

 He dropped his weapon...Stumbled to the corner and collapsed in a pool of blood.. He was dead before his body hit the sidewalk!!

Lt. Cotton stood over his lifeless body..

"Kylie...You saved my life...Thank you!" said Lt. Cotton.

"You'd have done the same for me Lou!" she said modestly... She kneeled down...she rifled through his pockets..She found an address..

"Maybe the rest of the gang is at this address." she said..

As his body was carted off in a white body bag...

The Killer, a Man named James Matey was from Ireland...Interpol told us he had enough Murder One  accusations on his record to receive one hundred lethal injections.. He was a very efficient killer... Was being the operative word.. He would kill no more.. His body was taken to the morgue.

A little while later..

Lt. Cotton, Detective Kylie White and a Tactical squad raided the apartment where Matey had been staying.. They found four glossies..

Monica, Myself, Lt. Cotton and Helga..  There was a notebook with all of Lt. Cotton's movements.. Notes that he couldn't locate Monica and Me.. (He had no idea we were at the Space Station) and details about where Helga was locked up and when she might be moved.. This man came to town to kill all of us and had failed.. He was dead!  Captain Moray's plan was falling down around him and what was worse.. He didn't know it!

III-

At a lighthouse somewhere off the coast...

"It's time for one more test....I'm going to hit four cities at the same time and for an hour....The world will be stunned and then I'm going to make my demands Sersi...Have you heard from Matey?" asked Captain Morey..

"He texted me about two hours ago...He told me Lt. Cotton and another detective met with Helga at the jailhouse... He was planning to hit Cotton when he walked out of the jail...He contacted the mouthpiece..  He's arranging for her arraignment tomorrow and he's going to hit her as soon as she walks out of the courthouse.."

"He still hasn't spotted Monica and Nate?" asked Captain Moray.

"No, no sighting of them." said Sersi.

"Hmmm that is odd...but they'll show up soon.. Especially when they learn their precious Lieutenant has been slain." said Captain Moray...

Another Tidal Wave hit Atlantic City....People had already been banned from the beaches..

Another Tidal Wave hit Philadelphia..

London was hit with a wave of water at the same time..

and so was Paris....

He didn't realize it...but he had made the biggest mistake of his life.

At the Space Station at that very minute.

"Your Boy is insane... He just drenched London, Paris, Atlantic City and Philly...at the same time..The signal is so strong, we can't miss it."said Jack McCall.

''What are you going to do?" asked Monica.

"First we overide the signal... That will stop the Tidal Waves immediately... Now we have located the Satellite... We are sending a shuttle out to destroy it." said Jack McCall.

"WOWWWWWW FAR OUT!" I said.

"The stuff Science Fiction is made of."joked Carlos.

A shuttle went out..

The Satellite was located..

The Laser Beam from the Shuttle destroyed the Satellite completely..

Inside the Space Station...

We celebrated.. Champaigne Bottles were popped and we all drank in celebration..

Monica and I kissed passionately while drinking Champaigne..

We congratulated Jack McCall

Carlos was ecstatic...

And at a Lighthouse somewhere on the Coast....

"Something is wrong... The signal went dead... and the power is out... Sersi, go check the fusebox." said Captain Moray...

Sersi grabbed a flashlight...

He didn't know it, but this was the beginning of the end for him.

24  HOURS LATER- at the Lighthouse..

"Good thing Ryder installed those back up generators and further instructions on how to send that signal to his satellite.. Activate the signal again...I want to send another tidal wave...This time to Los Angelas and San Diego..That will give them something to talk about.. Then I go live with my demands to the world.HAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" laughed Captain Moray...

He peered out at his monitors, showing him several cities coastlines...

"Boss man, I'm getting nothing....I have a message here that says "SYSTEM INTERRUPTED!" said Sersi.

"WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?" That's impossible... Impossible!   How could that be?

TRY IT AGAIN!!! AGAIN!!!!! AGAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!" screamed Captain Moray...

"AND GET ON THE PHONE , CALL MATEY, BY NOW Lt. COTTON AND HELGA SHOULD BE DEAD!!" he screamed..

"Boss, I got real bad news for you...Matey is dead !!!!!!  It says he was shot to death in Philadelphia yesterday by Lt. Cotton and another detective... They found the safe house..They know he was planning to kill Monica,Nate, Lt. Cotton and Helga... There is an APB out for you on Conspiracy to commit Murder charges and General Mayhem....what's worse.. Helga was arraigned, released and has dropped out of sight." said Sersi.

"They won't find us.. None of those four had ever been here, including Helga.. She can't give up this place.. Once I get the Tidal Wave to working, We are back in business...Try it again." He said..

"It still says System interrupted." said Sersi..

"There must be some kind of glitch in the system....Ryder said this can happen sometimes... It will work itself out.."said Captain Moray..

"William ,it is just you and me here now... While we wait for the glitch to fix itself...There are other things we can do to uh entertain ourselves.." said Sersi..

"Let's retreat to the bedroom." he said, smiling raffishly..

"Yes, this is long overdue." said Lt. Cotton.

"You aren't lying...I'm sick of him..."said Kylie..

Carlos just smiled.

The Lighthouse looked silent..

Two Tactical Squads broke down the doors and raided the lighthouse from both sides..

A totally shocked Captain Moray was caught with his pants down literally , nude and on top of Sersi in bed.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? HOW DID YOU FIND ME?" he exclaimed..

"WILLIAM, COVER ME UP.....I DON'T HAVE ANY CLOTHES ON!!!" exclaimed Sersi..

"NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR MODESTY SERSI!!! HOW THE HELL DID YOU FIND ME?" screamed a livid Captain MORAY.....

"William, does it really matter at this point?" asked Sersi

"Hope you enjoyed yourself Captain because that's the last sex you're ever going to have." I said as we burst into the bedroom.

"It's the same old song Good Captain... You keep escaping and hatching some mad plot to take over the world and we keep catching you and locking you up." said Monica.

Lieutenant Cotton produced handcuffs..

"Get Up!!! Put em on... It's time to go to jail good Captain.." he said.

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT......HOW DID YOU FIND THIS PLACE.? HOW?? HOWWWWWWWW?" screamed Captain Moray... 

''We are good damn cops...Just admit it." said Kylie, laughing.

We hauled both Captain Moray and Sersi back on seperate boats...

As for his lighthouse...we lined it with C-4

And blew it to smitereens...He nor anyone else would ever use this base again..

The Mystery of the sudden but short Tidal Waves were over...Scientists would be baffled and many theories would pop up for years...but only a select few people would know the truth.

The  Super Maximum Prison that housed him..

Hopefully this would hold him this time..

Sersi was tried and convicted of the murders of the two henchmen and sentenced to death...She hinted that she was responsible for a lot more deaths...but we knew that...

Helga was released on bail and then promptly dropped out of sight.. There is a fugitive warrant out for her arrest...

We celebrated by having drinks at Zig's place..

''So glad you guys are safe and sound and drinking at my place again." said our friend, Ziggy.

''We are glad too Ziggy." said Monica.

"No More fever dreams about Captain Moray?" I asked Monica.

"Nope...I've slept good ever since we put him on ice.. I only dream about you." said Monica.

"Good to know sis." said Monique.

"Yes.. Good to know." said Lt. Cotton..

"Next Round of drinks is on me." said Carlos.

"I'll drink to that." said Kylie.

As our drinks were served.
