ADA Brooke Kennedy was looking at her laptop.. She had googled all of us and was looking at our histories...She was very impressed..

ADA Natalie Tennison walked in with coffee's for both of them..

"Heyyy girl what you lookin at?" she asked.

"These guys...Look, they're very good..." said Brooke.

''They are...I certainly underestimated them...They were ready for me...Do you know how many attorneys I have surprised in arraignment with my tactics? But not them...It's like they were ready for me."said ADA Natalie Tennison.

"Oh they were ready....They're young like us..but they have a lot of trial experience and their boss, Yvette Jones is very,very astute and good...Look how young she is and she made partner and has her own office....She is training them well... We gotta bring our A Game when we go up against them."said 

Brooke.

"Oh I know..I know. and we need a better case than this..A stronger case. Lt. Tragg gets an anonymous call telling him where he can find the murder weapon...which just happens to be in a trash can behind her apartment complex, which means anyone could have placed it there...It has no prints or DNA and the serial numbers are filed off...It's a street gun...He finds the defendent's bra in the victims office..Which means nothing, nothing at all... They were having sex just 24 hours before...Where is the motive?" asked Natalie.

"He promised her the 9:00 PM slot...a prime slot...but his Fiance had already Greenlighted a two hour slot for B.L. Benz. Who do you think he was going to listen to?" asked Brooke.

''So why kill him? Why not kill the Fiance?" asked Natalie.

"Unless the Fiance killed our guy."said Brooke.

"Nah, that wouldn't play..She has the hot hand already...Why would she need to? No, this is someone else. Tragg has to recanvass and talk to some more people...I don't want to go into court and get embarrassed."said Natalie.

"He's coming by here...Did you know he's asked me out?  To a Steak Dinner, Martini's and Quiet Conversation..??" laughed Brooke.

"He wants to get in your pannnnnnties..He wants to get in your pannnnnties."joked Natalie.

"Shuttttttttt up." she laughed... "He's going to have to recanvass and get more evidence...Worrying about sleeping with me shouldn't even be on his agenda right now. Nothing is Free in America Baby..." said Brooke.

and at our building...We were having the exact same conversation...

The entire room erupted in laughter...

''So why kill him? Why not kill the Fiance? Unless...Unless his fiance killed him." asked Sofia, getting us back on topic.

"Nah, that wouldn't play..She has the hot hand already...Why would she need to? No, this is someone else. ."said Kahlil.

"At any rate, it's not our job to figure out who did this, but it is our job to show a jury our client did NOT do this."said Ms. Yvette... "I'm really disappointed that she didn't check in today or call us.."said Ms. Yvette.

"I need to know where she was...We need to establish an alibi...I'll get on that and I'll find out where everybody was...We know B.L. and Karen went to Ocean City, the night before, so He's clear...but where was Kathy Lee?? Where was Josie James??? I'm going to the Television Station and find out all of this by days end." said Ms. Jade, getting up...

"Vettie, you got a call, guess who?" said Ms. Virginia, passing her a business phone.

It was Josie.

"Hi Yvette, it's Josie...Josie James." said Josie.

"What are you doing calling me on this phone? We gave you a phone to call us on and why didn't you check in via the Portal?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"I'm so sorry girl, I left the Portal and the Phone at home..and we filmed two segments of my show this morning...I'm sorry...and I've got a meeting with my attorney in a few minutes...I just wanted you to know I didn't forget you guys...I'll check in tomorrow...See you girl." said Josie.

Yvette sighed.....

"Oh my god!" she sighed...

Lt. Tragg went to our old building at 7:00 AM and waited until 9:30....Of course we never showed up because we don't work there anymore..Our old office was cold and dark and locked tight on both sides...

Furious, he left in an angry huff...

He went to Sam Mother's Diner.

He ordered his regular..Fried Eggs, Hash browns and sausage

He saw Yvette's husband, Gary Lockwood, once one of his detectives, Now an Investigator for the D.A.'s office.. enjoying his breakfast of Coffee and Blueberry Crepes.

Naturally, he walked over to where he was eating and invited himself to his table.

"Hello Lockwood.. Where is your wifey?" he asked.

''She's at work!"said Gary, angry that he invited himself to his table and angry at being questioned about Yvette's whereabouts...

"I was just at her office, NONE OF THEM WERE THERE...."said Lt. Tragg..

"Well I guess they're in court."said Gary finishing up his food and sipping his coffee..

''Even Virginia?? Virginia wasn't there."said Lt. Tragg.

"I don't know what to tell you...They all went out to work this morning."said Gary... He knew that Lt. Tragg had visited the old office..The office they hadn't worked in for close to a year now.. He had no clue we worked near Penns Landing in the new Bridge Building.

"I think you're lying..I think you know exactly where they are!" said Lt. Tragg.

"What do you want with my wife?" asked Gary.

"THAT'S MY BUSINESS! POLICE BUSINESS!" said Lt. Tragg angrilly..

"GET A LIFE!" said Gary, going up to the counter to pay his bill and leaving...

Lt. Tragg sat steaming....and still without an answer...

II-

AT THE TELEVISION STUDIO-

In the conference room at the Television Studio an intense meeting is going down.

"I don't give a merry damn what Tommy told you....I MAKE THE FINAL DECISION AROUND HERE...IN CASE SOME OF YOU FORGOT! NOTHIN IS FREE IN AMERICA...EVERYTHING HAS IT'S PRICE AND I SET THE DAMN PRICE AROUND HERE!!" said Studio Head, Covington Barrington.

"But Covington, I came to you a month ago with plans to expand B.L.'s show to two hours."said Kathy Lee Johnson....

"Tommy promised me the 9:00 PM spot..He said he was going to move B.L. up to the 10:00 PM SPOT!"protested Josie...

"He apparently told Ms. James this the day before he died..."said Kenny Freeman.

B.L. looked astounded.. We all felt sorry for him/

"He didn't put in writing and even if he had....I MAKE THE FINAL DECISION AROUND HERE...and B.L. is staying in his 9:00 spot...at 10:00 Pm we are adding a new show to be announced later and Josie, you will remain at the 8:00 PM Lead in spot...Now somebody tell me what all you other lawyers are doing here?" asked Covington Barrington.

"My name is Jade Le Ho...I'm an investigator for the attorneys who are representing Ms. James in her murder case.." said Jade.

"I'm Lead Attorney , Yvette Jones-Lockwood and these are my associates..

And Attorney Kahlil Ahmed.." she said.

"I needed to know where you all were on the night of the murder..." asked Jade.

"I was in Atlantic City the entire day...I have proof."said B.L.

"I was in the Atlantic Bar ,having a couple of drinks...Then I went to North Bowl...for more drinks. Alone." said Kathy Lee Johnson.

"Both of those locations are just around the corner from Crepes To Go." whispered Sofia to Bee Bee.

"I know right?" whispered Bee Bee.

''I was home...alone..." said Josie.

"I was in South Bowl...All night, until 2:00." said Covington..

"That's just blocks away from CREPES TO GO" whispered Kahlil to me..

"WOWWW!" I said.

Lt. Tragg walked in...

"WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE?" he said incredulous.

"You know Josie James is our client..."said Yvette.

"I've got what I need, we can go." said Jade.

Bee Bee and I and Sofia and Kahlil got up and filed out..

"I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!" said Lt. Tragg.

"We have someplace else to be." said Ms. Yvette as we filed out and hopped on the elevator..

Denying him the chance to whine and complain and ask questions he himself should be asking other people.

"I suppose you want to know the same thing they wanted to know." said Covington to Lt. Tragg.

Lt. Tragg looked like he had swallowed a canary.

We were back in our building....We had some things to sort out...

"I'm not satisfied..."said Jade to Ms. Yvette.

"You're not?" asked Ms. Yvette.

"No. They told us where they were...but at least two of them were within walking distance of that Pancake restaurant...and Josie left the studio at 10:00 pm after a sexual romp with the boss...I'm assumig he was still at the studio ,because he's not heard from again until he goes to CREPES TO GO, about two hours later...I need to know if he went anywhere else or interacted with anyone before that time and where did our client go after she left the studio...I'm checking everybody's financials and then I'm going to talk to other employees, get the scuttle butt."said Jade.

"You're my MVP Jade." said Ms. Yvette.

I stood outside my office... I motioned to Bee Bee to come over..

"What you want?" she laughed as I took her by the hand and gently led her into my office and closed the door..

At our cafeteria.... Bee Bee and I weren't the only ones just arriving..

Kayla was outside, fixing her hair and applying lipstick...

Ray was stuffing his shirt in his trousers and adjusting his tie...

Bee Bee eyed them and would tell me later that she was certain they had been somewhere doing the same thing we were doing in my office..

All these relatively newlywed couples working here...It was bound to happen from time to time.

Once in the Cafeteria, We saw that Kahlil and Sofia had saved two seats for us...

They were our best friends...

Tony Billips and his wife, Bresha Billips were over in a corner table kissing passionately...They couldn't keep their hands off of each other when she visited here...If she was here that meant that Olivia and Beverly were here..

We saw Josie ,Beverly and Nelson at a table with Jazzy and Dabnis and Jessica and Chip..

They smiled and waved as the four of us entered...and got in line for our food..

Olivia and her husband, Donnie Ray were sitting at a table with Ms. Yvette, Ms. Jade, Ms. Virginia and ADA Karen Page.

They all smiled and waved as we grabbed a table..

Kayla hugged and kissed her cousin Olivia on the cheek...

Then she and her husband took a seat together at a small table..

Bee Bee and I joined Sofia and Kahlil at their table..

It was nice to have a nice place like this we all could eat, safe from Lt. Tragg....

III-

At The Tony Four Seasons Rooftop Restaurant, Attorney Kenny Freeman and Talk Show Host and Podcaster as well as Murder Suspect, Josie James

"You Know Josie..You've got to take these murder charges seriously....You should co-operate with your attorneys...They're very good...Among the best...and I happen to know they're working hard for you." said Kenny.

"I do take these charges seriously, even though that clown Lt. Tragg is just one step better than Barney Fife..and I will start checking in with my attorneys..I promise.. Ouuu look." said Josie as their New York Strip Steaks, Baked Potato and Martinis arrived.

"I will co-operate with them and check in...I promise..

"I hear things...I hear that years ago, you were pretty sweet on Yvette Jones...When she was a young Attorney and working at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt, where you were employed as a Senior Associate Attorney and she was a young Associate Attorney.

and you and then Attorney Virginia Shaw had a hot and heavy thing going on before you and Yvette hooked up and afterwords too....Is that why you are so pro McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt?" asked

Kenny Freeman smiled.. How different things were then... He had been a Senior Associate Attorney at McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt for three years when Yvette Jones began  as an Associate Attorney there....

"We can certainly make a case for reasonable doubt with this." said Kahlil.

as we sat in our conference room.

Ms. Virginia walked in with coffees..

"You don't have a motive...You don't have one person that places her at the scene..and you haven't thoroughly checked out her alibi that she was home...alone...Did  you go by her block, talk to people, see if anybody saw her, check her financials, credit and debit cards  In fact check everybody involved's financials.. Recanvass.."said Brooke.

It was as if she hadn't said anything..As far as he was concerned..He had done all of the investigating on this case he intended to do..
