Sunrise in the city...It was a balmy 80 degrees already....

It was even hotter at our Duplex....

Beverly and Nelson were in the shower....Kissing each other passionately and soaping each other down...

We were sitting on the side of the bed ,kissing and making sweet love....

The courtroom was full...Micheal Stratton had been a very popular attorney and socialite...He was always on the most eligible bachelor's list in all of the social registars....The press loved him, so did social media...

His murder brought regional attention...

Attorney Arthur Trout did not like being in the spotlight and thought of as his murderer....He had gotten death threats..His car had been egged and his name dragged through the mud of public opinion...

His relationship with Samantha, a white female attorney was also put under scrutiny...It wasn't fair, but such was the public feeding frenzy....

ADA Billie Lawrence  was in the spotlight and she was enjoying her 15 minutes of fame...Like Lt. Tragg, she loved being on Television, being interviewed by the press and giving a quick and witty quote....

"Olivia Bennett-Alexander and her niece Beverly West are old acquaintances of mine...I know how they think...I'm in their heads....They lost to my colleague, Rockland Cambridge recently, but they were able to get the verdict thrown out and win a retrial....THAT WON'T HAPPEN IN THIS TRIAL....I'm going to put Arthur Trout away for the rest of his life!!!" she declared...

Olivia looked at Beverly...

''Did you hear that? " she said, almost laughing..

"Yes...I heard it..She sounds real confident...Let's shake that confidence Auntay"said Beverly....

''If there ever was a case I want to win, this one is it.." said Olivia..

"OLIVIA!!! BEVERLY!!!! The DYNAMIC DUO!  I've always wondered when or if our paths would ever cross again."said Billie Lawrence..

Nelson and I walked up just then...

She eyed us up and down....

"Mr. East...Nice seeing you again.....Congratulations on you and Beverly's nuptials... Oh and Liv....Giving love a second chance eh?  Not bad!" she said...looking me up and down and smiling at me seductively....."Not Bad at all..." she added in a seductive tone..

I had on a new suit , tailored for me by Sam the Tailor...and brand new Italian made shoes...and a nice new fragrance...

"Thank You Billie..."said Olivia..who also looked at me and smiled seductively.....

Josie walked up with some files...

 ''Excuse us Billie" said Olivia with a fake smile.

 ''Jackpot!"said Beverly

Nelson smiled.

Billie smiled..She viewed it all as posturing....

III-

The trial began.....

ADA Billie Lawrence was a talented orator and storytelller...The Kind of ADA I would love to present a case I brought in..She painted a story of an insanely jealous Arthur Trout

A successful Attorney, desperately in love with Attorney Samantha

who was once one of his students in law school and who he had once mentored.....and who, so angered by Micheal Stratton's seeming romantic interest in her that he killed him...

 Olivia proved that if anything, She was Billie's equal in oratory and telling a story...She presented another compelling  story..She told of a very good attorney named Arthur Trout , who was a tenacious adversary, but a gentleman and a friend , who could not harm a fly, Whom she had personally known since she passed the bar...She said that while her client did not care for Mike Stratton...and probably for the reasons ADA Lawrence stated...He did not kill him...

Beverly spoke of Attorney Stratton being poisoned by Walnut Oil, something Mr. Trout did not even know he was allergic to...She asked the women in the jury if they checked the ingredients in their lipstick when they brought it.."I check food ingredients occassionally, but not my lipstick." She said and smiled... Most of the women jurors smiled and agreed..She mentioned that Mike Stratton was a childhood acquaintance of her and her aunt and that he had paid them both a visit a few days before his death, during a time she and her aunt were in an intense negotiation against Mr. Trout...but that there were no unpleasentries...That was stretching the truth a bit...but it worked...

I sat back and smiled...

Lt. Tragg and three police officers sat in court smirking...

Billie brought doctors, the coroner, CSI personell and several officers who were at the scene...

Olivia ,Beverly and Nelson did not question them.....

Billie brought on several party goers and members of the wedding party who told basically the same story of the sequence of events...

Olivia and Beverly had taken good notes and they found several discrepancies in their stories and the facts presented by the police officers and CSI personell...

They asked the simple question of all of them...

DID YOU SEE ARTHUR TROUT SWITCH EPI PENS AT ANY TIME?

None of them could say that they did..

Nelson hammered home the fact that except for the two of them having an argument...There was no physical or forensic evidence that implicated Arthur Trout at all..He got the CSI and Forensic experts to agree to that!

That and no eye witness had all 12 jurors perplexed...

Billie Lawrence called

States Attorney Kathryn Peters, who kissed him with Lipstick that had a Walnut Oil base... She said that she had given Arthur money and asked him to purchase Lips tick..  Lipstick that had a walnut base...unknowing that this would set Micheal Stratton off..

''This is a receipt...Taken from the drug store where Mr. Trout bought Ms. Peters lipstick as a favor to her...with some money she gave him...You be the judge !" she said and smiled gleefully at Olivia and Beverly....It was her got'cha moment.

Josie passed Beverly a receipt...

Beverly had a receipt and a store photo of Arthur Trout making a purchase of lipstick...and she had the actual lipstick that he bought....

"Is this what was given to you Ms. Peters...?" asked Beverly...

"No...No it's not..That's not my usual brand...but I had to use it...It was all I had.." she said..

"But when you grabbed your purse and went to the ladies room, the other lipstick which you weren't familliar with was in your bag wasn't it...?" asked Olivia..

"Yes...I didn't pay any attention to it...Like your niece said...It was just lipstick" said Kathryn Peters....

This weighed heavily with the jury, Much to Billie Lawrence;s consternation...Olivia and Beverly hadn't even begun their defense and they were winning on points.

Nelson asked her...

''Did anyone else have  access to your purse?"

"Just my assistant..." she said..

Nelson smiled..

"No further questions.." he said..

For the first time, Billie Lawrence looked shook...She wasn't expecting this...

I smiled... We hadn't even begun our defense....

She called Peyton Young to the stand...She grilled her mercillesly about her relationship with Micheal Stratton, about getting pregnant and having an abortion that he paid for and then getting pregnant again...

She had done her research well..She asked her if she knew Arthur Trout...

Peyton said they had met socially on a few occassions , but that they weren't actually friends...

"But you both hated Micheal Stratton didn't you? And You both conspired to kill him didn't you?  A Man like that...He was a womanizer...He had abused you, lied to you...gotten you pregnant twice while dating States Attorney Peters and he tried to put the moves on Mr. Trout's girlfriend...Neither of you had any love for a man like that!" she said...

Olivia objected to the line of questioning vigourously, Shooting Billie a serious side eye..

Billie smiled...She so enjoyed angering defense attorneys and frustrating them!

The Judge told ADA Lawrence to either make a point or let that line of questioning go...

Peyton answered the question...

"Mr. Trout and I barely knew each other...We knew each other to speak...He bought me a drink in a bar once...Our paths crossed a few times in court..No...We didn't conspire to do anything...I didn't know him like that...To answer your second question...I didn't hate Michael...I-I was a little cross with him for dumping me and getting me pregnant a second time and lying to me...Yes...any woman would be upset with a man like that..but...Oh excuse me.."

She vomited in a waste receptacle..

Olivia and Beverly both stood up, screaming that the prosecutor was reaching and implying something that didn't exist...

Beverly got a cool towel for her and helped her back to her seat....

The Judge agreed...He asked Billie to stand down...

When the defense began it's run the next week...

Barbara Jessups was called...

She was a hostile witness and did not expect to get called...

"Barbara...How long have you been Ms. Peter's assistant?" asked Beverly...who was clearly enjoying getting under her skin...

"Four Years..." she said..

''And in that time her office paid for your college...You have a B.A. in Administration of Justice right?" said Beverly..

"Yes..." she said..

"That was my undergrad major..  You're close to getting your para legal certification like my associate,Ms.Josie Boyd right?" asked Beverly...

"Yes..." she said..

"You were very loyal to your boss...You loved her right...You knew everything about her...What Lipstick she wore...What tampons she used...What chewing gum she liked...You usually picked these things up for her didn't you?" asked Beverly, smiling devilishly...

Nelson walked up...He showed her a transcript...

"You researched the internet for  Lipsticks that had a Walnut Oil base.. ,..This is from your credit card report and your computer..In fact ,you paid for this type of Lipstick and it was delivered in the mail just days before ,Did you not?" he asked..

"I-I-I-I...How did you get that?" she said...now sweating..

The Jury and spectators gasped....

He got it from me....

I smiled broadly...

"WHERE IN THE HELL IS THIS GOING?" demanded Billie Lawrence, who glared at both me and Lt. Tragg..

I smiled devilishly.....Right after talking to Peyton...I began looking into Barbara Jessup.....Her credit card purchases...Her internet searches....I couldn't believe how easy it was...How obvious she was and how careless she had been....She didn't even try to clean up her trail.... A first year detective....If he or she had the mind to....Could have discovered these things...You have to look at everybody....And I did the same for States Attorney Peters and Peyton Young as well as our own client, Arthur Trout, just so we didn't get blind sided...

Shortcake helped me some nights and Josie

helped us both on other days....

Olivia and Nelson basically worked on the defense strategy and wrote up questions for the jurors...

Other nights ,Olivia, Beverly and Josie worked on Defense strategy...

 and each role played....doing mock trials, imitating Billie Lawrence....They were more than prepared...

Ours was a total team effort...

Lt. Tragg squirmed in his seat....

"An alert Police officer found Micheal Stratton's real epi pin in the trash the next day...In all the confusion it got lost in the shuffle...but it had your fingerprint on it... We matched it to a glass you drank from in a restaurant...That officer is here...He'll testify to that..."said Olivia..

 I had located that officer and had gotten the fingerprint...I took it off of a glass she had handled in a restaurant.

"You hated Micheal Stratton...You switched his epi pen and you switched the lipstick that Arthur Trout bought with the fatal lipstick didn't you?  Just like it was you...not him who paid for Peyton's abortion last year...and who sent her money to get an abortion this year didn't you? I have your credit card receipt right here...Don't lie.." said Beverly..

"YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS..... I HATED HIM!!! I HATED HIM...Always pinching my butt...Accidentally touching my breasts...Always telling me how cute he thought I was..Sneaking by my apartment late at night...

Driving me crazy in the bed!!.....I THOUGHT HE LOVED ME!!!  HE TOLD ME HE LOVED ME!!! AND HE LIED!!!  HE LIED!!!Then I found out, he had gotten Peyton Young pregnant and that he just used me to get close to my boss....THEY WERE GETTING MARRIED AND HE GOT PEYTON PREGNANT AGAIN!!! HE WAS A DOG!!...A NASTY DOG!!! I HATED HIM!!!! HE USED WOMEN!! HE NEVER MET A WOMAN WHO HE DIDN'T FEEL HE SHOULD LIBERATE FROM HER BRA AND PANTIES!...I HATED HIM!!!" she screamed...She was shaking..and weeping uncontrollably....

The Jury gasped!!!!

''Don't say anything else...Get yourself some counsel..I understand exactly how you feel, believe me..I do...I was once married to a man like that...."said Olivia softly..almost like a mother..

It took a Jury a little over 15 minutes to find Arthur Trout NOT GUILTY of all charges.

Billie Lawrence was flabberghasted...

''Well I'll Be damned..!" she said and stomped her foot..She glared at Lt. Tragg...

"I told you ,I told you to recanvass, to leave nothing to chance...You idiot!!!" she screamed...

He said nothing...

I stood close by laughing my head off...

''Stop it...Just stop laughing.."said Olivia...

''Awww let him have his fun Auntay...He deserved it...His brilliant investigating broke this case open for us..once again.."said Beverly..Smiling and placing a soft kiss on my cheek...

"I'll say..."laughed Josie...who also kissed me...

Olivia pulled me to her and kissed me softly...

"Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm......wait til we get home....Ummmmmmm..."she moaned..

I smiled sheepishly....No man should be this lucky...Working with and being kissed by three beautiful women!

We watched as police took Barbara Jessup into custody

She was charged with First degree Murder..

Lieutenant Tragg once again spoke to the press..As he walked Barbara Jessup down the courthouse steps as if he had made the great collar....I did the legwork for him!

''Every now and then, we get it right.." he said..

"Ya mean you get it right?' said a reporter, which was met with laughter...Lt. Tragg glared angrilly at the wise cracking reporter..

 "I don't know about you guys...but I could use a drink.."said Nelson..

"Me too!"said Josie..

 '' All Drinks are on me...I 've got the best staff money can buy.."Said Olivia..

 ''Awwwww thank you Auntay.."said Beverly..

 Josie beamed with pride, Happy to be part of the team...

Olivia hugged Beverly,Josie and me..

Arthur Tragg hugged all of us..

"I was never worried...I knew you guys would get me off....Thanks guys....I owe you.." he said..

''Arthurrrrrr.."said Samantha..

"Uh yeah..?" he said..

"You were a little jealous weren't you? Of Micheal and me huh?   He did try to put the moves on me..but I never paid him any mind..I knew what he was trying to do...That part about you being desperately in love with me...That's true isn't it..?" she asked..

''Well ..Well..Well ahhhhhh.I-I suppose it is....I'm not ashamed of it.." he said..

"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..I rented a room in a hotel down the street...Let's uh go talk about it.." she said..She rubbed the crotch area of his trousers softly...He was already as hard as a tree trunk..

She smiled at him...

"We might not talk much at first..." she said and giggled..

"Oh My goodness Arthur..." she said...just shaking her head..

''Oh My...well uh...ahhhhhh yes....Hey look guys uh we may be a little late.."Arthur said..

''He's not going to make it.."said Nelson..

"Nahhh, not at all.." I said..

''Come on, let's get out of here.."said Olivia..

"I second that.."said Beverly...

''Yeah,me too."said Josie..

 The press snapped our photos and asked us for quotes as we left the courthouse...

"Once again you guys get your clients cleared" said the reporters, snapping away with the cameras.

Billie Lawrence was seething....She hated losing and losing to Olivia/Beverly and company left a bad taste in her mouth....

The Deputy of Operations would be hearing from her about that jackass Lt. Tragg she vowed...






EPILOUGE:

 Samantha and Arthur Trout went to a hotel room she had rented to "Talk" about the future of their relationship...

Not much talking went on......They wound up sitting on the side of the bed, nude....Samantha lowering her body on Arthur's engorged penis....kissing him slowly.....

"Because I'm a para legal and I worked for you guys as a legal secretary for close to four years..I signed up for a special  accelerated law course at Drexel, that could have me with a J.D. in no time..."said Josie..

"Outstanding.." said Nelson..

"Oh My God...Is it being too presumptious of me to hope that you'll stay with us as an associate attorney once  you pass the bar?" asked Olivia..

"If you'll have me...Of course I'll stay with you guys..You two have taught me everything I know."said Josie..

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu this will be sooo cool Jo.."said Beverly who hugged her..They were the same age and had become best friends since day one when Josie came to work for Olivia...

Just then Peyton walked over to us..

''Oh Hi you guys.." she said..

''Heyyy Peyton..."said Nelson..

"I'm out celebrating tonight..." said Peyton..

"Oh?" I asked..

"I've decided to take Larry North's offer of a job at the Innocence Project....but it will be a few months before I move to San-Francisco.."she said..

''Why is that?" asked Olivia..

"I'm going to have my baby first.." she said...

"That's great news..." I said..

 ''Awwww, good luck to you Peyton.."said Beverly

"Yesss."said Josie..

''Sit down with us...We know you can't drink, but we can order water for you.."said Olivia..

"Now that's a change."laughed Peyton...

Nelson and I laughed..

The night was humid and warm....A night for celebrating everything!
