The Hell That Was Coming

MIDNIGHT, Penns Landing...

A car sat by itself in the moonlight.....

It was eerily quiet....This was right off the landing, far down from where party goers and shoppers and patrons of the many area restaurants and bars were...

Lt. Tragg and a squad of Tactical policemen approached the car..

They observed the area...

Lt. Tragg looked in the front seat..Slumped over the steering wheel was a man, an Asian man...

He was very dead, with a nice neat hole in the back of his head and blood trickling down the back of his neck...The bullet had exited his head ,right between his eyes and partially shattered the dashboard..

"A through and through huh?"said Lt. Tragg..

''Yeah" said another officer..'Shell casing is right here..He was hit with a .22.  Execution style.."

"His Drivers License says he's Charles Wang...."said another officer..

Lt. Tragg took out his tablet...placed one of the dead man's fingers on the tablet...Within minutes it relayed the information he needed back to him..

"Uh Huh...he's got a sheet...Three arrests for possession with intent to deliver controlled substances.. He's a drug dealer..." said Lt. Tragg..

The policemen popped the trunk and found one kilo of Heroin in the trunk...

"That aint a lot Lieutenant" said an officer..

"It's somethin." said Lt. Tragg..

Just then , a young Asian man dressed in black was walking towards the car, He had take out food with him...

"Hey Boss...I got your food, sorry it took so long....There was a crowd .."said the man... He saw all of the police around the car and dropped the food and ran...

"Get Him.."said Lt. Tragg..

The officers spread out and had the young man in custody within minutes...

"Look man...I didn't do nothin...I just went to get food...I swear.."said the young man...

"Then why did you run?" asked Lt. Tragg…\

"You guys are cops...I'm here on a student visa....I've been in trouble once...I didn't want any trouble.."said the young man..

"Yeah pal...Well you got it..Hook him up boys, take him downtown.." said Lt. Tragg...

The young man sat in the interrogation room for two hours....He vehemently denied killing Charles Wang...He said he was in his employ as a driver only and had no knowledge that Mr. Wang sold Heroin...He knew him only as the owner of a seafood market ….

Ice Agent Shawn Columbsy arrived at the police station...

''What'cha got Artie?" he asked.

"Thought you ICE guys might be interested in this.. We caught a murder out by Penns Landing tonight..This kid drives for the dead guy..He may be a suspect...He's here on a Student Visa from Mainline China...He's got a prior arrest for possession...I thought you might want to talk to him..His name is Chen Lee.." said Lt. Tragg..

Shawn Columbsy smiled..

"Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh..I'll talk to him..." he said..

"Hi ya Chen.." he said..

Chen looked at him with disdain..

"YOU!" he said.

"Me!  You're in a lot of trouble Chen...Your visa is up soon and now you're a suspect in a murder.."said Shawn..

"Come on man...I didn't kill nobody...I went to get his food....The Restaurant owner will testify to that...I wasn't around when he got hit.." said Chen..

"I'm pretty sure that's true...but there was a Kilo of Heroin in the trunk..."said Shawn..

"I didn't know anything about that..I swear...Look man...I didn't do nothin...I wasn't holding, I didn't kill nobody..all I did was drive...If I go down for this..even a little bit..I'm toast...I'm out of here.."said Chen..

"I can make this all go away...Give me a name...You know the name I want...You give me that name..and You're out of here..."said Shawn..

"Come on man, why don't you leave her alone? She's a U.S. Citizen now anyway..."said Chen..

"I need a name or you won't be in the U.S. much longer..."said Shawn...laughing and thinking..

Now Jade...This is the payback for making a damn fool out of me....This is the hell I promised you..This is the hell that was coming..."he sneered.

II-

"Mmmmmmmmm Beatriceeeeeeeeeeeeeee.." I moaned as I kissed Bee Bee..Real name, Beatrice Evans, Attorney at Law...

"Ummmmmmmmm I love how deep and guttural your voice gets when you say my name..BEATRICE...It turns me on.."said Bee Bee..

"You turn me on period." I said as we continued to kiss...

I'm Keith Jones, also an attorney at law.. Bee Bee is my significant other...I live upstairs from her in the same apartment complex...

"Really? I think it's this skirt that's got you so hot and bothered today....Beverly and my mom said it was too short.."said Bee Bee..

"I like it just fine..."I said..

"I know you do....You haven't been able to keep your eyes or your hands off of me all day..."giggled Bee Bee, who loved the attention she was getting from Keith as well as the heads that were turning and necks that were breaking of other guys who had been looking at her all day...

We continued to kiss, even slower and passionately now..

"Mmmmmmm the only thing I like better than you in this skirt is you out of it.."I mumbled..

"Ouuuuuuuuuuu that sounds like a plan.."said Bee Bee, giggling..

The doorbell rang just then...

"Babbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyy the doorbell is ringing....." she cooed...

in between hot and slow kisses...

"Wonder who that could be?" I said as we broke our embrace..

"Get rid of them." said Bee Bee..

I went to the door.. planning to do just that...

It was our friends,Kahlil Ahmed, a fellow attorney who lived two doors down from me and his girlfriend and Bee Bee's room-mate, Sofia Garcia..

"Hate to disturb you man, but look out your front window..now!"said Kahlil..

"It's the police and they've got Jade in handcuffs.."said Sofia..

"The Police??? They've got Jade?? For What??"said Bee Bee...

The four of us stared out of the  window...

Lt. Tragg and several heavily armed policemen had Ms. Jade in handcuffs...

putting her in a police car and driving off...

Standing off to the side and smiling was ICE agent, Shawn Columbsy….

''We gotta get dressed and go help Ms. Jade.."said Sofia..who was in a baseball shirt and panties....

Bee Bee agreed..

"Yes...let's go downstairs and get dressed...One of you guys call Ms. Yvette.."said Bee Bee..

"I'll do it.."I said, hating to call her...I imagine she was probably doing what Bee Bee and I was getting ready to do..

"Okay..I'll get dressed...I'll see you downstairs." said Kahlil..who was clad in pajama bottoms...They had been in bed and had heard the commotion and seen the blue and red police lights.

I wanted to kick Shawn Columbsy and Lt. Tragg's asses...They had both spoiled what would have been a perfect afternoon...

The four of us had a slew of cases recently...

 Bee Bee had won acquitalls  in three murder cases recently...

So had Kahlil..

Sofia and I had helped three people successfully get their citizenship, had handled a prickly divorce and had settled three labor disputes...The four of us were really tired..

Ms. Yvette had given the four of us and Ms. Jade a few days off...This was to be our first afternoon off..

III-

At her boyfriend, Gary Lockwood's house..

She and Gary were finishing up FIVE TO SIX HOURS of passionate lovemaking..

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"moaned Gary as he came and came hard...

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Garyyyyyyyyyyyy, Gary, I love youuuuuu."squealed Ms. Yvette as she came intensely, turning her head from side to side..

"I love you too.." he moaned..

They lay there exhausted....

Trying to catch their breath!

"WOWWWWW!  That was, that was awesome.." said Gary...

"Ummmmmm yessssss."said Yvette, lying on his chest..

"The phone is ringing...That's your phone..."said Gary,.

"Ohhhhh  who is calling me?" said Yvette as she reached for her phone on the night stand...

"Hello?  Oh Hi Keith...Huh? What? Arrested?? Why?   Oh My God!!!! Okay...I'll meet you guys at the police station.." said Yvette..

"Which one of your young charges got arrested..Let me guess.."laughed Gary..

"It wasn't them...They said Jade was in handcuffs...Lt. Tragg arrested her and Shawn Columbsy was there too.." said Yvette..

"This is it!!!..This is the Hell that was coming.." said Gary..

"Huh? What are you talking about? The Hell That was coming?" asked Yvette..

"Columbsy was angry about Jade slipping through his grasp and showing him up last time. He promised her that hell was coming...Well, here it is..The hell he said that was coming.."said Gary...

"I'll show him what hell is.." said Yvette...

Yvette got out of bed and headed to Gary's bathroom ,where she showered....She was fixing her hair and about to put on her make up when Gary walked into the bathroom.. She hadn't put on her dress yet..

''Before you put on your make up...Come here.." he said softly...

He held her in his arms and kissed her passionately....running his hands down in her panties...

"Ummmmmmmm" he moaned..

"I'm so sorry baby.." she said..

"Hey, it is what it is...You gotta do what you gotta do...but when you're done.. Come back here and do me some more.."said Gary...

"You know something...You are becoming a real horn dog.." laughed Yvette, kissing him one last time...

"You've spoiled me.."said Gary..

"I knowwwwww. "said Yvette, laughing and kissing Gary some more..

IV--

''Come on Artie...Do me a solid.. I told the kid if he gave me a name, I'd get him cut loose." said ICE agent, Shawn Columbsy..

"You shouldn't have told him that Shawn...He's my suspect in the Wang Murder..." said Lt. Tragg..

''Oh come on Artie.. He's no killer.. He's a punk.. He's afraid of his own shadow....You have the testimony of the guy in the Restaurant...He was getting take out at the time the hit occurred.." said Shawn..

"What do you care? You got Jade Lee for conspiracy to purchase and distribute a controlled substance.. She gets convicted...Her citizenship could be revoked and she's gone... It's win win.. You get revenge and I get a killer." said Lt. Tragg..


We walked in just then...

 "We are here for Jade Lee.." I told the desk Sgt,

"You an Attorney?" he asked.

 "We all are attorneys.." said Yvette, showing him her ID...

 "Now could we see her?" asked Bee Bee..

"Yeah...Bailif...Take em to the Fishbowl." he said.

 "I hate that nickname.."said Sofia..

"Me too."said Kahlil..

Ms. Jade had been a Homicide Detective and she had worked with us lawyers long enough to know that she didn't have to say anything.. She exercised that right and didn't say a word, wouldn't answer a question...Refused coffee, sandwiches and cigarettes..

She just sat....She was glad to see all of us...

"Word gets around fast....I hadn't even asked for my one phone call ."said Jade, trying to look cheerful...

"We saw the whole thing out the window.." said Sofia..

"I was certain you guys would be in the throes of passion by then....You're slipping..You disappoint me."said Jade..

 Kahlil and I cracked up laughing..

"Good Ole Jade...Glad to see your sense of humor hasn't left you.." I said..

Yvette was reading the charging docket....She shook her head as Lt. Tragg walked in...

"Possession of and conspiracy to distribute controlled substance...One Kilo of Heroin..."he said.

"You're off your nut...You didn't find one damn thing in her apartment or in her car..."I said..

''All you have is the word of some clown trying to make a deal to keep himself from going down for murder..."said Sofia..

"And it was just a kilo...Not exactly enough to brand her a Kingpin.." said Yvette..

"You've brought some weak cases in before...but this takes the cake.." said Bee Bee.

"That's not my case...I'm holdin the kid for Murder...We are releasing her to Immigration." said Lt. Tragg..

"Immigration? She's an American Citizen.." said Kahlil..

"For now...but a conviction for something like this...So soon after she's gotten her citizenship.. Can get her citizenship revoked and thus have her sent back to Mainline China or Japan.." laughed Shawn Columbsy….

"You know....I've always thought you were an idiot....but you're a petty idiot too...That makes you worse than Lt. Tragg and that's hard to do.."said Yvette..

"HEYYYYYY!" said Lt. Tragg...

''Sit tight Jade.. I'm calling a Judge I know..I'm going to get you a bail hearing and get you out of here."said Yvette..

"One thing you ought to know Ms . Yvette, guys...The kid who gave him my name..Chen Lee....he's my cousin!"said Jade..
