Romulus Down

 We sat in the Futurisitic Squadroom....

"We got results back from the phone I took off Sharpov...and the phone I took off of our undercover officer." said Monica.

She had taken a phone off of  the undercover cops's corpse in Lemuria...we had found that there were no calls on it..It had been erased completely....However we kept it and sent it to the lab for analysis..

"He probably didn't think we'd search the undercover cop or Sharpov, probably thought we'd leave these phones  on them...I'm glad we didn't.. The fingerprints and DNA on both are matches to Romulus.."said Monica.

"His fingerprints and DNA on Sharpov's phone is bad enough...but no way it should be on our plain clothes cops phone.. This evidence...as small as it is...Connects Romulus to the murder of a cop and to Sharpov...That's a double murder...We know Sharpov killed those five men...We'll never be able to prove that Romulus ordered those murders or the attempted murder of us..but we can take him down on this." I said.

"Don't get a warrant yet...We still have a leak in our shop...A leak that needs to be plugged up and fast before we take Romulus out..." said Karen...

'Well, I've got to go and see my sister...Come on partner.." said Monica...

''Right Behind you Mo Mo." I said..

"Kylie...Mind the shop...I gotta go see the Deputy Of Operations." said Lt. Cotton.

And in a Futuristic Highrise downtown...

''Damn it.. I can't believe it...They took out my best sharp shooter...How did they know?? I'm surprised they aren't knocking down my door, accusing me of putting a contract on them...Of course they can't prove it..but they like to make shows of force...They've got Sharpov's apartment...Got it before I found out about it...They know the shooter was one of my men..and they know Sharpov is the killer of their five men...They can't link him to  me directly....but they should be satisfied..Their five murders are down.. Just be cool...No more phone calls for now...Unless I call you..we don't wan to let on that I'm getting inside information.."said Romulus..

II-

On the break room, Kylie poured herself a cup of coffee...

"It's nice having you around now and not on the moon anymore." she said..

"Only you could bring a man from the moon back to Earth." said Carlos...

Kylie laughed..

"Oh Really?" she said..

"Yessss...I didn't want to take the chance of someone else gettin all this good lovin.." he said ,standing directly in front of her..

She ran her hands along the crotch of his trousers....

"I didn't want anybody up there on the moon getting any of this either.." she whispered...

They embraced and kissed passionately....

He opened her blouse and began kissing her neck, around her bra.....

"Carlos....Not here baby....Someone could walk in.." Kylie giggled...

''Who cares?" he said.

"Not here....come with me.." she said..

They walked up the back stairs to the rooftop Heli and Flying Car Port... It was empty and quiet...

They continued kissing.....

"I haven't seen you in awhile.." she said.

"I had two big cases... Have to keep the lights on in my office.." he said in between kisses..

She was wearing a short skirt... He gently slid her panties to the side..

He lifted her up and entered her slowly....

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Carlos....Ummmmmmmmmmmm..." she silently moaned as they made love in the back stairway....

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH KYLIE...I'VE MISSED YOU SOOO MUCHHHHH!" he moaned.

"I'VE MISSED YOU TOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! OHHHHHH!" she moaned...

They kissed each other passionately for a few more minutes...both of their bodies trembling.... 

He put her down... These quickies were okay, but not enough! He thought...

"Ummmmmmm we need to take this back to my place or yours at least..."said Carlos..trying to catch his breath and straighten his clothing.

"Ouuu, I can't right now...but this afternoon, after this is all over...You come on  over to my place.."said Kylie, trying to catch her breath as she and Carlos straightened their clothing..

"That's a bet...leave the door open baby..." he said.

"You know I will." said Kylie..

At the Medical Examiner's Office..

"This is your case right here.. Two phones..

One is Sharpov....His lieutenant....Erased...but Romulus's sweaty fingerprint and DNA all over it..

Right here, an assortment of uncleaned knives and surgical equipment, with the blood and DNA of all five of your murder victims found at Sharpov's house...

And a second phone belonging to plain clothes oficer, Mckinnon, erased and with Romulus's fingerprints and DNA on it.. No way his prints should be on this phone...

Plus the information you took off of the hard drive of the cell with each of these men's names on it, including the guy who tried to kill you.." said Monique..

"This ties to Romulus to Sharpov and our sniper...Enough to charge him with conspiracy to commit six murders and two actual murders..."said Monica.

"Oh God, I've been waiting for this..To finally take the smirk off his face and cuff him.." I said.

''Before we swear out a warrant, we've got to plug up his hole in our department first..Let me call Lou." said Monica.

"You guys be careful." said Monique.

''Always Sis"I said and hugged Monique and kissed her on the cheek.

III-

Back in the squadroom... A sinister conversation between Sgt, Matt Divers and Romulus is taking place.

"I don't know why they left...But all of em are gone... Lieutenant Cotton is in a meeting with the Deputy of Operations.. Nate and Monica Nellis went to the M.E.'s Office...I don't know why.." he said.

"They're up to something...I don't know what....but they're fishing...Keep an eye on em..." said  Romulus.  "I'm going to be leaving town again...for awhile.. I'll need you to run the operation...Do some recruiting...Get guys we can trust...pure guys, clean guys...No Fags...No guys that sneak around with niggers and spics and chinks...Good Guys...You'll be running the show Matt..I have faith in you.."said Romulus..

"I won't let you down sir..."he said and hung up...

"An End to a distinguished career Matt...You were about to put on Lieutenant's bars...You just threw it all away...I'm so disappointed in you...Hand me your badge and gun please."said Lieutenant Cotton.

"How much? How Much did he offer you to sell out your brothers and sisters in Blue?" asked Monica.

''We aren't his brothers and sisters, Wrong color right Matt?" I said , no longer recognizing his rank.

"We could charge you with conspiracy to commit murder...seven of them...You were his information pipelines... You discovered that two of the men were gay lovers, that one was married to a Black woman, that another had a Latina girlfriend and a baby and that the other had an Asian girlfriend...You sentenced those men to death as surely as if you had weilded the knives..." said Kylie..

Matt Divers was sweating...He could see his entire career going down the toilet.....and possibly jail time..

Nothing was worth this..

"Listen, guys.....Can we uh work out something?" he asked..

"I'm listening!" said Lt. Cotton.

IV-

Sometime later that afternoon-

Romulus gave a huge speech

Before a much larger crowd than the one he had in Lemuria...

We waited for the crowd to disperse and subside...

He was walking toward the exit with one of his aides when he saw me...

I was holding some handcuffs..

"It's tank time stupid..." I said..

"Cat got your tongue?" asked Kylie , who was standing beside me, Glock drawn!

"You know...you've got to stop this...These grandiose shows of force...Minus a warrant..I am definitely calling my attorney.."said Romulus..

''Well you'd better call him..because we did file a warrant today...For your arrest on nine counts of Conspiracy to comitt murder and two counts of murder in the first degree...and we have more than enough physical evidence and a corroborating witness....Surprised?  Maybe you should wonder why you didn't get a call telling you that we filed a warrant?" said Monica, who could sense the fear in him now....

His upper lip began to shake as I handcuffed him...

''Eugene Romulus...You have the right to remain silent....Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law..You have the right to an Attorney...If you can not afford one, one will be provided for you...You being a disbarred attorney, I'm sure you know all of this..." I said and snapped the handcuffs on him.

Monica could sense how humiliated he was having me , who he had called boy reading him his rights and snapping the cuffs on him...

"You'll have a much larger crowd to preach to where you're going ....The joint!" said Lt. Cotton , "Get this dreck out of my face." he said.

Romulus hung his head as the squad of tactical officers escorted him out and away...

"Well, another big case down.."I said..

"Yupper Partner and you know how we celebrate the end of each case.."said Monica..

We embraced in a passionate kiss....It's how we had been doing ever since we became partners..and hopefully how we'd always do it!

EPILOUGE-

Romulus was convicted on nine counts of Conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of Murder in the first degree...and sentenced to Life with no possibility of parole.

Sgt. Matt Divers turned in State's Evidence against Romulus and was granted immunity from prosecution...He was allowed to retire immediately and keep his pension..It was better than he deserved..

Sometime later....We held a celebratory dinner at our place..

with plenty of Pasta and sauces and salad and bread sticks..

"Monica, Nate, thank you so much for inviting us....Everything looks delish." said Kylie..

"Can't believe when I met you two guys so many years ago that you'd wind up married and still be partners....But actually , the way you guys argued that day, I thought you were married already." joked Carlos Wallace..

"It was quite obvious we were meant to be.." I said, hugging Monica.

"Yeah!" sighed Monica, smiling serenely...

''I brought wine"said Lt. Cotton..

with a bottle of wine ,purchased from his favorite winery!

''Let's dig in everybody..."said Monique...

And we did dig in..

celebrating the end of yet another case.
