Seven Years And One Day

A Tony Estate Outside of Philadelphia in it's suburbs found our supervisor, Attorney Yvette Jones-Lockwood and one of her associates, Attorney Sofia Garcia-Ahmed, sitting with a well heeled client Amy St. James, going over her husband's will...

''Well, it's been exactly seven years and one day since your husband went missing..No one has been able to find a trace of him..no movements on any of his accounts, no phone calls, texts, nothing on social media and no sightings.... I suppose we can now declare him legally dead...."said Ms. Yvette..
"And since he left no will...This being a community property state....You will inherit this house lock stock and barrell and the entirety of his estate... You'll pay a small inheritance tax of course..but other than that...This is all yours.." said Sofia..
"Well thank you all very much..My Husband dealt with Attorneys from McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt for years...He always spoke highly of the firm...so I decided , in honor of him...I would deal with this firm also...I am so far, very pleased with your work..."said Amy St. James.
"You have a beautiful house."said Sofia.
"Why thank you...More coffee ladies?"asked Amy St. James..
"Thank You!" said Ms. Yvette.

A Maid poured three steaming hot cups of coffee for them.

as they sat in the living room...

Yvette's eyes were fixated outside on the front lawn..

on a water fountain in the front yard....

"What is fascinating you with my front lawn Yvette?"asked Amy St. James.

"That Water Fountain on your front lawn...does it work?" asked Yvette..

Amy looked a bit surprised...It was as if her entire demeanor changed..

"Uh, Uh it used to....It ,It, It hasn't worked in ohhhhh seven years.." she said.

''Wow, right around the time your husband vanished..huh?  Maybe you should hire a plumber..I'll bet it's beautiful in the spring and summer." said Sofia.

"Yess...It...It was." said Amy St. John.

Staring out the window at the water fountain.

II-

Far from them in a downtown Philadelphia courtroom...My wife, Attorney Beatrice Evans-Jones, my buddy, Attorney Kahlil Ahmed and myself, Attorney Keith Jones stood with our client..Eddie Sloan..

who was charged with murder...

Bee Bee had been the lead attorney and Kahlil and I had been second and third chairs..

Ms. Jade had put together a picture perfect investigation that had all but alibied our client...A nephew of one of the associates at our office who had asked us to take his case as a personal favor and had paid us handsomely...

Judge Michael King asked the bailiff-

"Has the Jury come to a decision?"

"Yes your honor, they have.." he said.

He passed him the decision..He shook his head and smiled..

"Okay..Read it." he said.

" STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA VS. EDWARD L. SLOANE, COUNT ONE -CONSPIRACY TO COMMITT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE-NOT GUILTY

COUNT TWO- USING AN INSTRUMENT OF CRIME TO COMMITT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE- NOT GUILTY.

COUNT THREE- MURDER IN THE SECOND DEGREE- NOT GUILTY" HE Said.

COUNT FOUR-MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE- NOT GUILTY.
"I don't believe it...I,lost...I lost!!!... That's the third case in a row I've lost...Damn it!! Damn ir!" said the ADA Curtis Loader... We had known him in law school..A brilliant student ,who graduated with us..He apparenttly was not having a good time in the D.A.'s office.

"Heyyy pipe down kid..Sometimes it's like that...You win a few..You lose a few...Don't be so hard on yourself." said Lt. Tragg , who was equally disappointed in the loss..

"This is all your fault...You brought in a lousy case...This case had more holes in it than Swiss Cheese...Damn it..Damn it!!!" he said as he grabbed his briefcase and stormed out...

He had won his first 22 cases in a row and  he seemed like the golden boy..he was intelligent, tenacious and arrogant...All the things that make a good Assistant District Attorney..

Then he lost a case to our good friends, Olivia Bennett-Alexander, Beverly West and crew, including their new intern, Attorney Bresha Williams.

and then he lost his next case against our friends, Jessica Sanchez-Burrows and her husband, Charles "Chip" Burrows

and now he had lost this case to us..

Ms. Yvette and Sofia were originally with us, but were pulled to handle Amy St. James's case..She is a very well heeled client..The kind of client our firm would prefer we handle.

Bee Bee took over as lead Attorney.

with me, Kahlil and Jade assisting and we won the case anyway...

Old Curt was definitely not a happy camper...He was livid!! In all three cases, Lt. Tragg had been the arresting officer...He considered him, bad luck!
"Geeez that kid has an attitude."said Lt. Tragg to Judge King..
Judge King said nothing...He just smiled..

''Wow...Now there was a close one.." said Bee Bee..
"It wasn't close.. I knew you had the upper hand the entire time.."I said..
"Awwwwwwwww you just want me to kiss you hot stuff." she said as we kissed passionately in the corner..

"Ms. Jade....How bout I treat you to lunch?" said Kahlil..
''Why thank you.."laughed Ms. Jade as the two of them headed upstairs to the cafeteria..

It was a successful day for us...

III-

Ms. Yvette and Sofia had taken the high speed line out to Amy St. James's estate...They found it easier than driving out there...
"Bee Bee just texted me...They got an acquittal in the Eddie Sloane case today..."said Sofia..

"Great! You know I just keep thinking about that water fountain... I can't get my mind off of it..Something about it sitting there and not working seemed kind of off putting, kind of eerie to me."said Yvette.

Who kept thinking about the water fountain..It wasn't particularly pretty or sophisticated...Just a run of the mill water fountain that should have been working..
and why she wondered why the water fountain stopped working 7 years ago??...The property wasn't that old..

"Sofia.... Uh this is really nothing..Don't rush it...but when you get some spare time...I want you to do a title and property search on The St. James property...It's really nothing..I'm just curious about something, that's all...You can file it away when you're done..This case is over.." she said.

What she couldn't know is that it wasn't.

"Not a problem...It'll give me something to do tomorrow."said Sofia.

Meanwhile back at Amy St. James's house..

"I thought I'd wait until those two lawyers left...You uh had a great day today didn't you?  Seven years...huh? Seven years and one day...Myyyyyy you've been patient....Your husband was declared legally dead today huh?" asked Stanley Beamer.

''What do you want?"asked Amy St. James.

''I heard you buttering up those two attorneys...Telling them that dear old Brian had used McCluskey/Cozen/Connor and Pratt for years and thought highly of them....He used ME for years, ME...Yes I was employed by them...but I was actually his personal attorney.." said Stanley Beamer.

''Wonder why my late husband would have thought of you making numerous passes at me...or the fact that you embezzled funds from him?"said Amy.

"He's really dead isn't he? Not missing...but dead...You know it and I've always known it.. I don't know what you did with the body...but I know you killed him...His mistress, Lana Cohen went missing around that time too and in my office...I've got proof that she was murdered...And if my suspicions are correct..Her body is where ever you stashed your husband's body..." he said.

''What do you want?" asked Amy.

"One Million Dollars...and access to your body for one night..or I'll deliver my proof about  Ms. Cohen to the authorities...You know how these things go...One thing will lead to another and soon the cops will start asking you some very interesting questions....Questions you don't wish to answer...Questions that would jeopordize your newly found fortune and maybe, just maybe ,your freedom..Heh Heh heh.." laughed. Stanley Beamer..
"As an attorney, you make a very good blackmailer." snarled Amy..

"At any rate....You have my number and you know where my office is...You've got 24 hours...I'll be waiting. I can let myself out. Amy.." laughed Stanley Beamer..

Once he was gone an Arab man walked out of the Master bedroom..

"You've had guests all day Amy..." he said.

"Yes...Some wanted...and some not wanted..." she said..

"That creep Beamer...He's blackmailing you, isn't he? You should let me handle him for you..."said the Arab man , known as Anson Gilbron.

"Don't worry about him...Now get in the bedroom..There are other things for you to handle..Like me." she said seductively...

As they retreated to the bedroom and she began undressing as they began to kiss passionately...

she slowly removed her panties and bra...

Anson had Amy bent over the bed , while he plowed into her..

"OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GODDDDDDD!!!" she moaned....

"OHHHHHHHHHHH....OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... OHHHHHHHHH GEEEEEZ!" he moaned...

"OHHHH MY GODDDDD, ANSONNNNNN, OUUUUUUUU, YOU'RE A BEAST!!!!OH MY GODDDDDDDD..OUUUUUUUUUUU!!! PUT IT IN ME!!! YESSSSS!" she exclaimed..

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM..ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!" he moaned.

They were rocking very hard...

THIS WENT ON FOR THREE TO FOUR HOURS....

and within an hour they were on the bed room floor..

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH   ANSON....OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she screamed..

"GEEEEEEEEEZ!" he yelled... " he screamed.. as she banged both of her fist on the floor...

Anson was near delirium.....

"OUUUUUUUUU I'M CUMMING!!" she yelled as her legs began to shake furiously and she moved her head from side to side...sweat and tears just flowing down her face..

Anson was sweating profusely...

"UMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" he moaned..

"ARE YOU ON SOMETHING? CIALIS, VIAGRA??? MY GOODNESSS..." she exclaimed..

They sat on the side of the bed and she moved up and down on him...kissing passionately.....

and finally made it to the bed...

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ANSONNNNN!! OUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" she squealed with delight..

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SWEEET BABYYYYY!" he moaned..

They made passionate love for the next EIGHT TO NINE HOURS!   AMY had had several orgasms and ANSON came with wild abandon.....

"I'M ABOUT TO BLOW MY LOAD..OHHHHHHHHARGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!" he yelled..

She cuddled up under him and he held her in his arms as they both drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

While at Sam Mother's , We all had dinner together..

"I'm sorry we couldn't be there to help you guys finish that trial, but you all did well without me..You four are becoming great attorneys in front of my very eyes." gushed Yvette..who knew we were coming to the point when we would no longer need her supervision.
"I had great second and third chairs." gushed Bee Bee, looking at me and Kahli.
''Awwww she's only saying that because it's true." I laughed.
She gave me a soft and slow kiss...
"I missed you papi...but I'm glad you won your case."said Sofia.
"I always miss you mamasita." said Kahlil..

and they too kissed each other softly..

"You guys take the day off tomorrow...We've had a successful run of days...You too Jade."said Yvette.

"Thanks Boss Lady." said Jade....

Not Only did we have a successful day , case wise...but there was no interruption from Lt. Tragg...Didn't know where he was...but we didn't miss him either.

IV-

In a downtown law office...

"Three gunshots to the chest...one to the head...Somebody wanted to make sure this guy was dead...."

Dr. Hazel Baylor, Deputy Medical Examiner felt the body....This was in the past hour. Nobody in the adjourning offices saw anything or heard anything...These are .38 shell casings...I'm thinking our killer used a silencer..

Lt. Tragg walked in...He knelt down...

"I know this guy...He's a lawyer...Stan Beamer...represented my Uncle Jack and my dad a few times...Used to work for uh that same firm Yvette and her snot nosed youngins worked for McCluskey/Cozen/Connor & Pratt some years ago...Then he left and started his own firm...Look at this office...It's been trashed..." said Lt. Tragg...

The CSI guys and Medical Examiners continued to snap photos and take prints and DNA samples..

His safe had been opened...and emptied...

"His safe has been blown and emptied..."said Lt. Tragg. He looked at his appointment book..

"Hmmmm, interesting...." he said.. He checked his phone..

''All of his phone calls have been wiped out...His voice messages too! Here Charlie, bag and tag this...Call the phone company...I want to know everybody he talked too...Take his computer out of here..Check the hard drive..."said Lt. Tragg..

''Can I remove this body?" asked Hazel.

''Yeah...Get him out of here.."said Lt. Tragg.
He watched as the crew wheeled the body down the hall and to the elevator...

and out into the street.....

While all that was going on...The four of us were in the Supermarket..

"Why don't you guys have dinner with us tonight?" said Sofia..

"Yeah , we ate at you guys house last time." said Kahlil..
"That's a great idea..." said Bee Bee..
"Nice way to end the day.." I said.

At Ms. Yvette's house... Jade was enjoying diner with her and Gary..

"Jade , I thought you'd of brought some of that Saki over.." said Gary with a sly grin..
''Next time...I promise."laughed Jade.

"That's okay...I have a nice Port here that's just as enjoyable.."said Yvette..

"I did that Property search you asked for... That place is eight years old.. Brian St. James had an architect draw it up and it was built from specs...everything on that property was brand new.."said Jade.
"Including that water fountain and it goes on the fritz, one year after they've been there..Hmmm, strange."said Yvette.

"Huh?? What??" asked Gary..
"Ohhh Nothin...Nothin..."said Yvette..
"Oh and her husband did use a McCluskey /Cozen/Connor and Pratt Attorney for many years... His name is Stanley Beamer.... He was let go for reasons never explained..He went to work for Brian St. James exclusively until he vanished seven years ago...He was then fired by Mrs. St. James, your client..He started his own firm. He has an office in Center City..." said Jade.

"Good work Jade... The kids and you are off tomorrow ..I'm going to pay him a visit.."said Yvette.

"Really?" asked Jade..
"No Big deal...I just want to tie up some loose ends...before I file this case away..that's all."said Yvette.
Gary poured three flutes of wine..

They toasted as they began to eat their meal..

Yvette had no idea that Attorney Stanley Beamer was beyond answering any more questions.
