Violent Crimes

''Sissy, guys....You're looking at the new headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Division.." said
Deputy Commissioner, Arthur "Action" Jackson..

''After all of the sensitive investigations you guys have handled....The department decided you needed a place of your own for you and your detectives Sissy..." He said..

"Oh My God.,...I never...."said Sissy...

"Nonsense....You deserve it...You guys have cracked some major cases...Put some of the city's worst criminals and their organizations behind bars...You'll have an administrative staff of 39 people coming over, first thing Monday Morning....Your detectives will have offices of their own...There are bedrooms on the top floor if you guys are working late and need to crash here...and your friend, Deputy Special Agent in charge, Sharon Hopkins, will have an office here also....She'll be a floor above you...but she and her federal agents will be here...." he said..

"Oh My God...I can't believe this..."said Sissy, gushing..Her office was still being rehabbed back at our old headquarters..

"This is great Sis...I'll have to drive further to see you guys, but it's a great move for you.."I said..

"Several Uniforms and plain clothes cops will be reassigned here also...They'll all be here by the end of next week.." said Jackson...

Deputy FBI Special Agent in charge, Sharon Hopkins drove up just then.....

She looked around.....

"Wow...If the insides are anything like the outside...WOWZERS!" she said...

"This is a thank you from the Mayor and my boss....for all your hard work.." he said, laughing....

Sissy whispered to me.

"We still have "Copland" for the really sensitive cases" she said..

Talking about the Apartment complex owned by the federal government that was turned into a make shift operating base.......

Sharon and I nodded in agreement....

II-

 It would be awhile before the rest of the crew saw our new digs...At this moment...My wife, Detective Carlotta Rodriguez-Wallace

was with her two partners, Detective Tyriq Pile

and Detective James "Jimmy" Barlow

in a row house in the Northeast section of the city....

The scene was a grisly triple murder....

"It began here..."said Carlotta , examining the body of the man, Carl Jenson....The Home Invader decided to get rid of the greatest threat first...He shot Mr. Jenson twice in the chest and once in the head, killing him instantly..." she said...

Two uniformed policemen observed both bodies...One CSI guy dusted for prints, while another checked for DNA, blood splatter patterns..anything...There was a lot of blood, everywhere...

Her partner, Tyriq Pile , observed the second body...a woman, clad in panties and a now crimson neglige', his wife, Carla Jenson..

''She awoke..She screamed....The first shot hit her in the arm...the second shot hit her in the hands..a defensive wound...She turned and was hit in the back...She must have crawled to the door and was hit with two to the back of the head.." he said coldly, shaking his head...

"There's blood everywhere..."observed Tyriq...

Jimmy Barlow was down the hall with three uniformed policemen and a photographer...

"This guy heard his mother screaming and got out of the bed and walked into the hallway and caught one, right between the eyes...he was killed instantly..."said Jimmy, observing a 10 year old boy lying in the hallway by the steps...

Dr. Hazel Baylor, Forensic Investigator and Coroner observed all three bodies...

"Okay guys...If the detectives are done here...let's get em on the truck and to the Medical examiner's office" she said..

The bodies began  being loaded on to gurneys and brought out...

One by one.....

 and a third corpse...

It had been a long time since we had seen anything like this, so violent, so tragic..a whole family..."

"Nothing appears to have been stolen...This looks like it was personal, against the whole family..."said Tyriq..

"Not the entire family....In this photo here...There is a girl...She's not here...We need to find her.." said Carlotta.

Jimmy walked up just then...

"Her name is Corlette, Corlette Jenson...She's a senior at the local high school...I found her school ID in the back seat...I'm having a couple of the uniforms run her down.." said Jimmy...

"Guess she'll be coming to our new digs huh?" said Carlotta, smiling...

"Yeah, let's get over there...We can't do any more here.." said Tyriq...

"I have a team on the Street cams, Traffic Cams,Business cams....et al...And while it's fresh....Maybe we should do a door to door search for the girl." said Carlotta...

Tyriq smiled...He had been with Carlotta, since she had first put on her gold shield..He had trained her well..He was exhausted, but he knew she had the right idea, if they were going to close this case...

"Rico, I gotta call from your wife...She's a few blocks away...She has a double..My guys are taking these bodies in...I gotta go."said Hazel...

 Just a few blocks away...Detective Sirena Pile, Tyriq's wife was standing in the living room of a row home..

Sirena ,observed a man in his pajamas on his couch...With a shot to his heart and a shot to his head...His hands still around a can of beer... His name was James Pearl...

"Whoever killed him let themselves in....and they shot him immediately...One to his heart and one to his head to make sure.." she said..

Two uniformed policemen observed the body...One CSI guy dusted for prints, while another checked for DNA, blood splatter patterns..anything...There was a lot of blood, everywhere...All down the couch, on the floor..

"The killer then walked up the stairs...Mrs. Pearl must have come out into the hallway...She caught one right between the eyes..Bullet exited out of the back of her head...She was dead before she hit the floor.." he said..

The was a huge smear of blood on the wall and splatter on the hallway ceiling...

Hazel arrived by then and took a good look at both bodies....

"My God...Rico, Carlotta and Jimmy had a triple just a few blocks from here..same thing, a family...Husband, Wife and a 10 year old boy..."said Hazel..

"Nothing appears to have been stolen..This is like a hit..."said Sirena..

"I got a team on the Traffic and Street Cams....doesn't look like any business cams around this area.."said Hop..

Sirena looked at some photos...

"They have a teenaged son...He's not here..."said Sirena..

"His name is James Pearl Jr.  He goes to the local high school...I've got guys doing a door to door search, Five Block radius..Maybe he'll turn up..." said Hop...

"This has been one bloody night.." said Hazel...

who watched somberly as both bodies were removed

One by One..

IV-

On the other side of town... Detectives Edwin "Duke" Baylor and his partner ,Detective Angie Belton had a double homicide of their own...

"She was raped and strangled...."said Duke..observing the body of a woman clad only in panties and bra....

"This other girl over here, possibly her room-mate was killed by blunt force trauma...She was beat about the head..but she's got blood on her nails..She must have fought with her killer.....scratched him..."she said.

"We've got a large amount of semen..." said Duke..

 Two uniformed policemen observed both bodies...One CSI guy dusted for prints, while another checked for DNA, blood splatter patterns..anything.There wasn't any blood...

Just then, his wife, Dr. Hazel Baylor showed up...with Sissy and I...

"I've certainly been busy tonight..busier than most.."said Hazel, smiling.. 'Rico,Carlotta and Jimmy had a triple...whole family....Father, Mother and son...." said Hazel..

"Oh My God!" said Angie...

''And about 8 blocks away...Sirena and Hop caught a double...A Husband and wife...In both cases, nothing was stolen..Just wholesale slaughter..."said Hazel.

''Wow , that's going to spoil our unveiling of our new headquarters.."said Sissy sadly..

"I guess now is not the time to say it, but it is nice...And it's all ours...Just like "Copland", except this place isn't a secret...but we do have our privacy to a point where we can conduct an investigation without the brass breathing down our necks.."I said..

"Listen at him...He sounds like a cop" said Sissy...

Just then Lieutenant Tragg and Deputy Commisioner Arthur "Action" Jackson walked in...

"What's going on here?" asked Lt. Tragg...

"My detectives caught a double murder."said Sissy...

Lt. Tragg observed the two bodies...Two young women...

"This one was raped and strangled.."said Duke..

"This woman must have walked in on it and got clobbered with something..."said Angie,...

"You do realize this is the area of the ten rapes I've been investigating...So this technically falls under my jurisdiction.."said Lt. Tragg..

"How is that?  This is a double homicide...My detectives got the call.....You're dealing with a serial rapist or that's what you told the press.."said Sissy..

Now ,Now ,Now look..We are all on the same team here...Sissy, I understand you guys got five open murders..."said Deputy Commissioner Jackson..

''WHATTTTTT? The Great Criminal Investigation Division has 5 open murders?" asked Lt. Tragg,laughing..

"They occurred tonight...One was a triple in Mayfair and the other was a double in the Northeast...They look like Home Invasions.."said Sissy,..

"Then you need to get on it.. and not impede my investigation of the serial rapist..."said Lt. Tragg...

"Right now we have a double murder...Aghhhh you know what?  You got it...Duke, Angie...turn your notes over to the good Lieutenant...It's all yours.." she said.

"Now see...That's good sportsmanship.." said Deputy Jackson...

"Deputy Jackson, the sleeve of your suit jacket is torn and that's a nasty scratch you have..."I said..

"Ohhhh...Ohhhh that's nothin..Tore my jacket on a fence...Damndest thing..heh ,heh, heh..." he said..

"I've got a first aid kit in my car..."I said..

"Ohhhh that's alright...I'll be fine.." he said...

''Well, we are out of here.."said Sissy..

"Good Night Sissy, ADA Wallace, Duke, Angie...Enjoy your new digs.." said Deputy Jackson...

"Lieutenant Tragg ,can I release the bodies now?"asked Hazel..

"Huh? , What? Oh Uh yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah..." he said..

"Here's my notes..Maybe the killer is the same as this serial rapist you're chasing." said Duke..

"Nahhh, I don't see a pattern..but I'll take that into consideration.."said Lt. Tragg..

Deputy Jackson smiled...He almost looked relieved...

Duke whispered to Sissy...

"Neither of these cases will ever be solved..You know that right?"

"You know I know it.." she said and smiled..

V-

When we returned...Deputy FBI Special Agent in Charge, Sharon Hopkins was there to greet us..

''Surprise...We are all up and running.."she said..

Our equipment was up and running....

Sissy's Husband, Eddie C. was there...

"I brought us a change of clothes darlin and a case of beer for everybody..." he said..

Tyriq and Sirena had already been home, had their kids and their clothes and had picked their room...So had Carlotta, Jimmy and Hop and Sharon....

 "That's nice because I don't feel like the drive home tonight.."said Angie..

"That makes two of us.." said Duke..

''My Agents, The Uniform and Plain clothes cops and the administrative staff will all be in in the morning..Meanwhile, we have the night and this place to ourselves.."said Sharon...

"That's great...I heard you guys picked up some hard cases.."I said..

''Horrific cases...It's just been a violent night.."said Carlotta.

"Heard you guys caught a triple and Sirena and Hop caught a double...Angie and I caught a double...Rape and murder and murder, Which Lt. Tragg took from us..." said Duke..

"Hasn't he been investigating 10 rapes in that area?" asked Carlotta..

"For the past month...Doesn't have a suspect yet..."said Angie..

''And he picked up a double murder?He's not going to solve that."said Sirena..

 "The Deputy Commish thinks so..."said Duke..

"Looks like the rapist and the murderer have nothing to worry about."laughed Hop..

"Interesting perspective.."said Tyriq..

I watched them as they talked detective talk....and I smiled, looking at our new digs...well, Their new digs...

It had been a rough night..a very violent night..
