It's Going To Be A Great Time

A Friday Night at Josie's....

The joint was packed as usual....

And I, Donnie Ray Alexander, Former New Orleans Homicide Detective , now transplanted Philadelphian and Investigator for my wife's law practice was playing   a set in Josie's tonight..

My other passion, besides my wife is playing the trumpet....

I was sitting in with some new guys who were in town..Meek Rollins told me they needed a trumpet player for the night and so there I was..

My wife, Attorney Olivia Bennett-Alexander  was wearing a fabulous and sexy mini skirt and sitting down front ,watching my set as usual...She was getting an extraordinary amount of attention tonight from guys...Several had sent her drinks.. She always politely declined..

Two tried to sit and talk to her anyway...She told one that she was married and showed him her ring..He left..but the other one...There is always one...Insisted on talking to her anyway...

She didn't respond to or answer any of his questions ,laugh at any of his jokes or acknowledge his presence at all...He finally got the hint and walked away...Furious..

Her niece and partner, Attorney Beverly West-East and her husband and our Associate Attorney, Nelson East walked over to us..

 "Hey Auntay...You and Donnie Ray still playing "Pick Up." she said and kissed her aunt..

"No Not tonight.....I'm waiting for him to finish his set ,so we can go home.."said Olivia, kissing her niece on the cheek.

 "Sounds like a fun game to play...We should play it...You pretend like you're a lonely bored girl and I pretend like I'm a handsome dashing young Attorney who sweeps you off your feet." Joked Nelson..

Beverly cracked up laughing...

"Why don't we reverse that..You're a lonely bored young man and I'm a seductive young attorney who sweeps you off your feet?" asked Beverly, laughing..

"That's too much like the truth." said Nelson..

 ''Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww…"said Beverly....

 "Hi you two." said our Para-Legal, who was also in Law school, Josie Boyd..

"No...Paris and I went to Bottom of the C. for dinner and then to Aqua Bar and finally here.."said Josie..

"Nelson and I went to Red Booth and then to the movies.. We are all just meeting up here...We figured you two would be here."said Beverly.

"Well....If Josie and Paris are staying over tonight...I'll be fixing breakfast tomorrow morning up in my place..but uh don't come up too early..."said Olivia..who smiled and winked..

"No please don't..."I said. My set was finished....

I pulled Olivia to me and kissed her passionately...I was fixing to hurt what was under that skirt...

"Yeah...we get the message.."laughed Beverly...

''We'll see you at home."said Nelson...

''Bye Liv" said Josie. As the four of them left...

Olivia and I continued making out...

 "Cut out that PDA counselor.."  It was our good friend, Assistant U.S. Attorney Karla Williams

there with Assistant District Attorney ,Miles Ellis..

"My husband is talented at many things....Sooo many things.."joked Olivia with a devilish smile..

"Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu girl...and those are the things to be talented at..." said Karla as the two shared a conspiratortial laugh...

''Where is Bev and Josie?" she asked.

"You just missed them..."said Olivia..

''We saw Yvette and her people at the Mermaid Crabhouse a few nights ago and now we run into you guys...How nice.."said Karla.

"Glad to see all is well.." I said..looking at Miles...He had been through the ringer with women lately..

"Yeah man, all is well.." he said and kissed Carla...

"Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ummmmmmmm.." he moaned..

Karla giggled.....


"Well, we are going to let you good people uh get back to what you were doing...So Nice to see you guys.."said Carla..

''Same here.."said Olivia..who looked at me..

"Let's go home husband.." she said..

"Great idea.."I said..

Just as we were leaving we heard a loud slap...

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" came the voice of a woman...

She had slapped the same guy who was trying to pick Olivia up, who seemingly wouldn't take no for an answer...

"Not his night tonight.." Olivia said and we both laughed..

Then we  headed home...  It had been a long night...It was nice to pocket a little extra money..

Olivia put her key in the door..

"I liked the last number you played tonight...You looked right into my eyes...Did you write that for me?."she asked...

"I'd like to say yes...but I didn't write that...The Bass Player wrote it. I said..

"Well it was nice.." she said..

I pulled her to me..

"Know what I like?" I asked..

"Me?" she giggled as we entered our floor and she closed the door..

''Speaking of which...I haven't seen Elwood lately..Remember, we were running into him all the time at one point." I said.

"Oh Yes...One thing..This is the year we visit my family in New Orleans for Christmas..You guys down to join us.??."I asked Beverly, Nelson and the Rest..

"Yeah you know I love the Big Easy!" said Nelson...

"YESSSSS!  We had a ball last time, remember?" said Paris..

 "YES OF COURsE....I want to see my little niece and nephew..."said Beverly... My sister's son and daughter really took to Beverly and had been calling her "Aunt Bev" ever since they first met her...

"Your sister told me that she's kind of like in the real estate business now...She owns three Air BNB's.."said Olivia.

''Yeah...They're  right there in Monroe... My Brother makes good money working as a Longshoreman at the fisheries..This is just a little extra cash for them...Which brings me to our next topic...Since she has three....She asked me if we would ask our other friends if they'd like to come down...Meaning Yvette and crew and Kayla and Ray.... Kayla and Ray went with us before..Yvette and company might like it too...They'd have someplace to stay and we could exchange gifts and have a fine meal at my sister's house on Christmas day...She loves to cook.." I asked..

"I can ask Vettie….I plan to see her today at the Shopping Center..."said Olivia.

''And I can ask Kayla and Ray and the others..."said Beverly.

"Great...Get Me a Headcount by tomorrow and I'll call my sister and tell her how many rooms to book.." I said..

Olivia met with Yvette at her apartment..

"It's going to be a great time Vettie….Two years ago...Donnie Ray and I, Beverly and Nelson, Josie and Paris and Kayla and Ray went...it was wonderful..."said Olivia.,..

"Livy girl, I'm sold!!!...I've never been to New Orleans...I'm sure I'll love it...Let me call Gary..He'll love it too!"said Yvette...

''Consider it our gift to you....My law firm is paying for your rooms and round trip air fare...You guys will have to rent your own cars.." said Olivia.

"Ooou Look at you, Trying to be all like McClusky and all.."laughed Yvette...

And a few blocks away at their apartment building... Beverly called Bee Bee and Sofia and asked them to round up the rest of their crew..

"If you're down....It's going to be a great time guys..." said Beverly...

 "I'm down...we were looking for something to do for Christmas...You guys were in San-Francisco last year"said Bee Bee..

 "I've never been to New Orleans...I'd love it.."said Keith...

 "Pencil me in....I'd love it.."said Sofia..

"Me too!"said Kahlil...

"I've been to New Orleans before...I loved it...Let me call Danny and see if he can take some time off."said Jade..

"Oh this is great...Two years ago...Donnie Ray and Auntay, Me and Nelson, Josie and Paris and Kayla and Ray went...it was wonderful..."gushed Beverly....

''And you guys law firm is paying for our airfare and our rooms?" asked Keith...

"That's right...Our gift to you guys for being such great friends..All you pay for is rental cars, which you'll need..and any clubbing we do...We aren't exactly in New Orleans...We are in a nearby suburb..." said Beverly...

Later on that day...

"Well Girls what's the verdict?" I asked..

'Vettie and Gary are in

and Kayla and Ray are in as well.."

"Did you talk to Alfreda and Rockland?" I asked.

This would be the first time they would be traveling with us..

''Sure did...They said they'd be delighted.."said Olivia.

"That's three rooms." I said.

Beverly and Nelson walked in....

"Keith and Bee Bee.

 are in...

so is Kahlil and Sofia..

and Jade and Danny Ho.."said Beverly...

"That's about nine rooms.....Okayyyyyy..Let me call my sister and set it up.." I said happily....

''Oh ,I can't wait....This is going to be so much fun..."laughed Olivia.
