Weekend At Sam's

SATURDAY MORNING-

 In order for Sam Mother's to get the crowds he was used to having, He had to have a big special...His publicity department was good at that....Today was Half price on Pancakes...

This brought out everybody...People who had avoided coming in here to avoid arguments and fights with Lt. Tragg...A couple of the men in these groups had punched Lt. Tragg's lights out...but he was hard headed...He still had to play the role of the bully.

Olivia Bennett-A;exander , her husband, Donnie Ray, Her niece, Beverly , her husband, Nelson, Josie and her husband, and Bresha and her husband Tony all sat at a large table..

''Everything smells so good , ummmmmmmmmmmmm When I saw this on Sam's website..I couldn't resist and I had to tell everyone else." said Olivia..

"I'm glad you did.. It's nice having all of us here again...It reminds me of when I first moved to Philly and joined you all. " said Donnie Ray.

"Yeah the good old days.. We used to eat here all the time ,remember Nelson?" said Beverly.

"Yeah,when we could, when we weren't burdened with cases." said Nelson..

" When I was at Penn studying for my MBA ,I used to come here."said Josie.

"I always ate here..In fact ,this is where we met." said Paris.

''Awww that's so sweet." said Bresha.

Her husband Tony laughed and hugged her, glad to be amongst her friends, who were now his friends.

At Another large table that Sam and his men pulled out.. Sat Yvette Jones-Lockwood and her group, husband, Gary, Keith and Beatrice Jones...Sofia and Kahlil Ahmed, Jade and Danny Ho and Virginia Shaw and Judge Jetty Dukes..

''Mannn, I remember being a young attorney eating here, because this was all I could afford at the time..I knew times would get better." said Yvette.

''All the cops and detectives ate here." said Gary, her husband..

'Remember when we were in law school, we'd all come here after a big exam?" asked Keith.

"Shoot Me and Sofia came here before an exam and after an exam.." laughed Bee Bee.

''Sure did." said Sofia.

"Good Times" said Kahlil..

"I ate here when I worked on that big case with Sissy and her guys." said Jade.

"Yeah this is where I met you." said her husband, Lt. Danny Ho.

Virginia, her boy friend Jetty Dukes, Alfreda and Rockland, Zoey and Lem made up a third table..

"I always ate here after a court date.."said Virginia..

"I think we all did.."said Jetty Dukes.

"Here come our pancakes." said Alfreda..

"Nice not to have to cook them today huh?" asked her husband, ADA Rockland Cambridge, hugging her.

"Ummmmmmm I'm so glad Olivia told me about this." said Zoey Easter.

"I would have hated to miss this." said Lem..

And at small tables near us sat Jazzy and Dabnis, Kayla and Ray and Jessie and Chip..

"Now we are going to have a nice breakfast and not anyone ruin this for us." said Jazzy.

"Mann I'm not even worried..but if he comes near our table with any foolishness..I'm decking him.."said Dabnis.

"Come on now..Don't even bring him up...We came here for a nice breakfast."said Kayla.

"I'm with Dabnis...He's getting decked, cop or not!" said Ray.

"To think that one man influences our decisions so much...It angers me."said Jessica.

"Relax...he's not here...Here comes the rest of our meal..

Hash browns, Orange Juice, Sausages and Coffees arrived on big trays that would be shared by all three big tables and amongst the smaller tables..

Surprisingly... the next guests hadn't been here in awhile..ADA Keith Wallace and his cops,His wife, Detective Carlotta Wallace, Detective Angie Belton-Barlow and her husband, Detective Jimmy Barlow, Detectives Tyriq and Sirena Pile, Detective Duke Baylor and his wife, Dr. Hazel Baylor walked in...They saw Olivia and Yvette's crews and waved,

''Hey Everybody..You guys saw the coupon too?" joked ADA Keith Wallace... The entire room burst into laughter..

Carlotta,Angie, Jimmy, Tyriq, Sirena, Duke and Hazel all laughed, smiled and waved and pulled up seats..

Detective Tony Hopkins and FBI/ATF Special Agent in Charge, Sharon Hopkins, his wife also walked in and took seats..

"I could not miss this ."said Hop ,who was very excited..

"I just know you couldn't." laughed his wife, Sharon...

Lt. Sissy Van Buren and her husband, Eddie C. walked in followed by

Private Investigator, Kevin Morris, his wife Sepia and their daughter, His friend, walter "Kool Kat" Jones and his wife, Chelsea and Insurance Investigator..Bonnie Shay and her husband, Ronald.

Sam Mother loved it...He was going to come up with more weekend specials to get his old customers to come back in... If he was lucky...a certain Lieutenant that should remain nameless wouldn't come in...

He was wrong.. He came in...

Lt. Tragg walked in... he was astounded... The place was filled with "His favorite people, All of the lawyers and their spouses who he jousted with or rather annoyed and bullied  and "his cops"

All of whom avoided eating here to avoid arguing with and in some cases fighting with him...

The place had been festive, people eating, laughing talking.. He walked in and it seemed like a tension wafted through the air.

Usually Lt. Tragg would be like a kid in a candy store , all these targets...but this morning his mind was on the night he had previously..

FRIDAY NIGHT

He was with ADA Jill Jones.. She was no drinker.. He introduced her to Tequila.. He chowed down, paid his bill and left without saying a word to anybody in the diner..

"He must  have gotten laid last night " observed Detective Jimmy Barlow.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON-

As usual, they were quietly laughing and talking and eating their food.

''When we get home..I am going to take a nice long rest...My legs are hurting from all that roller skating last night..and then you having my legs up in the air for hours..pounding my insides. having coffee.

''Welllll look at you, how do you feel now that my cops put your boyfriend Johnny B. Goode

 away  for up to 50 years?" asked Lt. Tragg...He liked rubbing salt on someone's wound.

"You should make a better choice in men in the future." he added.

"He wasn't ever my boy friend..He was a just a guy I knew from the neighborhood." said Sersi.

"Go Away.." she added..

Naturally it was like talking to a brick wall, he stood there glaring..

''And for the record...YOUR COPS, DIDN'T DO A DAMN THING!! They were my cops...my cops under my command, not yours...You didn't have anything to do with the investigation.. If they had put you on it...you'd of arrested the wrong guy or arrested him too soon and those defense attorneys over there would have gotten him off and made you look inept ,like they usually do...So Stop taking credit for something you had nothing to do with and LEAVE THIS YOUNG LADY ALONE!" came the voice of Lt. Sissy Van Buren, who had indeed led the investigation into the recent International Securities and exchange Bank Robbery....Her C.I.D.  had returned the money and bearer bonds and put the ring leader behind bars..  The other suspect was dead, murdered by "person or persons unknown " officially. anyway.

Furious at being called out and embarrassed in the diner, Lt. Tragg turned and stormed angrilly out of the diner without ordering..

His departure was met with claps and cheers..

''This was why a lot of his old customers stopped coming.. Artie Tragg's constant bullying...It was like he was so miserable he had a need  to bully others...He had been in five fistfights in here and had his clock cleaned and he still didn't get the message..Sam shook his head.. To His surprise, ADA Keith Wallace and Sissy's other detectives came in. Carlotta, Tyriq, Sirena, Jimmy, Angie, Sharon, Hop,Duke, Hazel.

He had known many of these people and their parents , since they were children. Had watched them grow up...go to school, law school, the police academy and watched them move up from the Public defenders office, uniform cop to the high profile attorneys and elite Detectives and Federal agents they had become..They were like family....He always wanted them to feel welcome here..

IV-

SUNDAY AFTERNOON-

Lt. Tragg rang ADA Jill Jones doorbell....He waited for a long time..

She came to the door..in just a t-shirt and panties..She had just awakened...

He had his regular of Fried Eggs, Hash browns, Sausage and Coffee

And hours later in her office,

ADA Jill Jones got a huge delivery...

Three Bouquets of Fresh Roses...All from Lt. Arthur Tragg....

She had an assistant fill three vases full of water and place the roses in them..... She smiled..She felt warm inside.
