 Avril  looked over the files on his desk..

 "That's it? " he asked.

"Yes that is it...No scandals, no blemishes, no arrests...No secret children on any of them...Nothing...They're all quite accomplished...well educated.."said the staffer..

"Wait a minute.. Alvin Bennett was no millionaire.. How did he put a daughter and grand-daughter through law school?" asked Avril..

"He and Olivia's brother, Jimmy, Beverly's father both worked at the University of Pennsylvania for years.. Their employee benefits paid for their full ride through Temple and a third of their law school costs for Penn...Olivia worked in New York as a model for a time

..She made good money...That paid for the rest of her schooling..

Beverly did what most students do.. She took out a loan to pay for the rest of her schooling.. There is no scandal with those two.."said the staffer..

''What about the husbands?" asked Avril..

'The Husbands...

Donnie Ray Alexander was a Homicide detective on the New Orleans Police Department for years.. Had the highest clearence  rate several years running...He suspected that three of his fellow officers were behind the murders of black citizens during Katrina...Working with the FBI, they arrested 22 people,including his Lieutenant...3 for outright murder and the rest for obstruction of justice." she said.

''Bet that made him popular amongst the rank and file." said Avril..

''He received a few death threats...Eventually, he retired and left the force...He had met Olivia Bennett ,who was vacationing in New Orleans that same summer. A friendship of sorts developed...He moved to Philadelphia and began working for her newly formed law firm..

They got married and the rest is history...It's really quite sweet.."gushed the staffer..

''Sweet but not what I'm looking for.What about East and Boyd?"he asked..

"Ahhhh now they are interesting.

Nelson East is the son of Barbara Newton-East.. She is interesting because she is the Older by a year, sister of former Philadelphia Crime Kingpin, Arthur ''Fathead " Newton.....Fathead Newton paid for his nephew's college in St. Johns.. Undergrad and Law school.. It appears young East had no idea what his uncle did for a living until after he passed the bar...He never went to work for his uncle instead choosing to work as a public defender where he met Olivia Bennett and Beverly West..

Olivia took a shine to him and mentored him

and introduced him to his future wife, her niece, Beverly..

Their law firm...The Duplex /Office where they work and live

was paid for by monies received after her divorce from top litigating attorney Elwood Barnes..

Olivia sold their former house and bought the property the four of them now live in.. A Duplex /Law office and she furnished it with the sale of two or three of his very expensive cars...

Today Elwood Barnes is Chief counsel for Cyclops Insurance." she said..

Josephine Boyd is the daughter of deceased former Philly Crime Kingpin Joe Boyd...She was raised by her mother in the Red Hook section of New York City...Educated at both Fisk and University of Pennsylvania..She didn't know of her father's profession until she was a grown woman...She is currently in Law school at Drexel and is a para-legal..She's been with Olivia,Beverly and Donnie Ray since the beginning of the law firm.."

"Damn it...Nothing..Nothing..Nothing I can use against them....They've got to have an achilles heel, something...I can use to slow them down...Tell Stanley to keep looking.."said Avril..

"They got Willie Clark off..relax..Maybe you're done with them.."said the staffer..

"No....No...Olivia Bennett-Alexander hates me..She never forgave me for her father..She's a lawyer largely because of me..She will stop at nothing to stop me from becoming Attorney General...No, trust me..Right now she's plotting a move...Trust me...She's about to make a move..Another move and I've got to check mate her." he said.

At our house...Nelson was busy studying his case...

 He was looking up old newspaper clippings on his laptop in the bedroom he shared with Beverly.. his wife..

He was very focused...

Beverly smiled...Nelson was cute when he was focused...

She made herself some tea and smiled...

''This Hortense Jefferson case really has you focused..."said Beverly...

''She's still in prison for a murder everybody thinks she committed and now we have proof that there might not have even been a murder at all.."said Nelson..

''Well Auntay and Josie got an exhumation order for the baby's body...."said Beverly..

 And Donnie Ray

tracked down the Urine sample that supposedly was "lost"...It wasn't lost at all...Hazel and Dr. Goggins are both examining it..to see if any drugs were involved...

The detective who made the arrest..Dominick Evans is in prison himself now for a double homicide..Many of his cases are now being re-opened....He bullied and intimidated witnesses and he too hid evidence...He supposedly took a statement from her ex -husband saying that he was positive she committed the murder , except there is one problem"said Beverly..

''What is that?" asked Nelson..

"He doesn't speak a lick of English...I had to interpret that for him..He says he never wrote that statement.."laughed Beverly...

Nelson looked up from his lap top...

"WOW!  You guys have practically made my case for me." he said..

"Yes..now put that laptop down and give your wifey some attention.."said Beverly who kissed Nelson softly and slowly..

 "Mmmmmmm with pleasure.."moaned Nelson as they kissed slowly and softly....She could feel his temperature rise and feel him getting aroused..

"Oh my god Nelson.." she said , unzippering his trousers and finding him very erect...

The next day, we all sat in the conference room going over the case...Olivia, Beverly, Nelson and Josie had been going over trial testimony from the first trial and picking apart  the original case.

 ''Shame we can't talk to the original trial attorney...He died two years ago..But he was making a credible argument, even minus the new evidence we have.."said Olivia.

''He apparently knew that there was missing evidence...Look here..He was demanding the results of a urinalysis..Hazel testified that she had conducted one and ADA Young said that it couldn't be found and that it wasn't material to the case, especially after a taped confession."said Beverly..

"He said that she appeared to be drugged , but then ADA Young argued that it was all mere speculation..."said Nelson.

"And he got a jury to just go for that? To let that go?" I asked incredulous..

''He had an all white jury..They were from affluent areas where there is next to no black people...This was a drugged up Black woman from a "bad" area...They were likely to believe anything Young said..He did the same thing to my father."

"I have to give credit where credit is due...He's a skunk, but he is a hell of an attorney.."said Beverly...

''Well he's not going to get the kind of jury he had before and this time we will have the evidence that first lawyer couldn't get.."said Nelson...

"I've worked up an appetite...How bout any of you.?" I asked.

Alfreda came in with soul food platters just then...

"I stopped by Mabel Jenkins's soul food joint.. I figured you all might be hungry...I know what everybody likes."she said as she placed a platter by me, Liv, Bev, Nelson and Josie..

Olivia hugged her..

"Freda girl you are worth your weight in gold." she said..

"That's my mommy."said Beverly hugging her...

I kissed her on the cheek...

"Love you woman.."I said..

''Ummmmmm good to know." she laughed.

"Thanks Mrs. Jay.."said Nelson hugging her..

"Thank Youuuuu."gushed Josie..

We chowed down, taking a break from what we were doing..

"Hazel and Dr. Goggins have both come to the conclusion and they are set to testify that Hortense Jefferson was drugged and that the Detective, Dominick Evans knew she was drugged when she made that confession..The drug was administered through the coffee...We have a record of two other times he had done this and the confessions had to be thrown out."said Olivia, who would occassionally peer over at me and shoot me a seductive glance, while she was eating..

 "Handwriting samples show that he wrote this statement from her husband...Her Husband, like her is Guyanese...She can speak fluent English, but he can't speak a lick." I said. Her glance wasn't lost on me..

"I can testify to that...And I have a sworn deposition from him....on Video...He's afraid to come to court..Afraid that ICE might get him and deport him.."said Beverly, who smiled at her new husband...

''A drug induced confession, record of this shady detective doing this two other times...and the fact that said detective is now himself incarcerated for murder..Urine loaded with a drug...evidence that the original attorney never saw...and a phony statement from her husband...I think that's compelling evidence enough for a Judge and a grand jury to vacate her conviction and release her.."said Nelson...

"Oh it's more than enough...Same ADA, Avril Young...My goodness...He's still in hot water behind the Willie Clark case...a second case destroys any chance of him becoming Attorney General.."said Olivia..

"He's already polling behind the Democrat and the Independent candidate.."said Josie...

Our Office manager, Alfreda Johnson looked at her watch

"Wow, look at the time..Can't believe you guys have been here all day...I'll see you lovely people tomorrow.."she said, Smiling..

"Bye Freda...Thanks for everything..See you tomorrow."said Olivia.

"Byee Mommy.." said Beverly...

"You want me to drive you home? I'm going your way."asked Josie..

"Oh No thanks baby..."she said and pointed...Her boyfriend ADA Rockland Cambridge drove up...

"Hey Guys.." he said, smiling and waving...

"Hey Rockland.."I said, waving.. Hard to believe he was once a very determined adversary of Nelson and the girls...

in several courtroom battles...Four in which they won, One in which he won...but now ,with him dating Beverly's mom , He was like a member of the family...

 "I've thought about you all day Freda.." he said..

"Oh My goodness Rockland...I've never had anybody this gone over me.." she giggled..

He kissed her passionately....In between kisses ,Alfreda said..

''Well now you've got me thinking about YOU!"

"Okay...I think we need to give them their privacy..."said Beverly, walking inside...

Olivia laughed and followed her niece inside..

''Awww I think they're cute.."laughed Josie..

Nelson whispered to me..

"I think some panties are coming off tonight.." he laughed..

"Ohhhh no doubt" I laughed..

We had no idea we were all being photographed....

At his campaign headquarters....Avril Young was upset...

''I told you they were making a move..

Nelson East is representing Hortense Jefferson, another one of my old cases.... and Olivia and Beverly are second and third chair..

This is two cases...A Black Man and a Black woman...Do you know how this will look?" he scoffed.

"I may have something that can help you..."said his blonde staffer.. She tossed two glossies on the table..

 "This is Alfreda Johnson..She is Beverly West's mama....The Baby mama of Olivia's older brother, Jimmy West..

"This is her boyfriend, ADA Rockland Cambridge..." she said..

"Yeah,so what?" asked Avril Young..

"Years ago...Ms. Johnson lived with this man...Basil Riley...a convicted drug dealer , who also had several arrests for spousal abuse,when he was married..Even Ms. Johnson filed a few charges against him for hitting her.. One day Basil just went missing..No one has seen or heard from him in years...The police searched for him for awhile..but they came up with nothing...

Ms. Johnson had a nervous breakdown....She was in deep therapy for years...She's been out for awhile and she is employed as an office manager by Olivia...Olivia loves her almost like a big sister, second mother..but nobody knows whatever happened to Basil...She was the last known person to see him alive...Wonder...Wonder if she was the cause of his sudden disappearence?  No proof of it..but it and her subsequent nervous breakdown does make one wonder..

It's not much....but it's enough to slow them down, maybe shut them down..."said his staffer..

"Hmmmmm yessss...Imagine if her ADA Boyfriend got wind of this...tooo?? Hahaha...We may have finally have found..Olivia's Achilles Heel.." he laughed..
