See, I want to say something meaningful and heartfelt
I want to write something really clever...
See, I don't want a trite phrase or expression
to head you in the wrong direction..
because it would be worse than a Shakespean tragedy
to see you with anyone other than me../

So you tell me
what must I say?
what must I do?
to make you stay
to have an influence on you?
What can I say to keep you from changing your mind?
please don't walk away..
please give me a little time../

I was gonna text you,
then I thought better and decided to write you a letter...
I really need to get next to you..
but I thought that a face to face conversation would be better..
I didn't want the thing's I say to be marked by abounding cliches
or a hackneyed theme or situation...
to be mis-understood as merely simple infatuation.../

So tell me
What must I say?
What must I do..?
To make you stay?
To have an influence on you?
Please let me stay...
Don't do me like you've been known to do...
Don't turn your back, don't walk away.....
Because you couldn't have known...
and I guess it just hasn't been shown
how long I've been waiting for this day..../
